Here we go again. Screw all these liberal counties and their guidance. They ruined small business forever and clearly are not following the science. Before it was about deaths now it’s a sniffle. When are the people of the Bay Area going to wake up and stop electing for profit wackos in to office? If it was about the people they wouldn’t shut us down.

Chuq August 2, 2021 - 11:13 AM - 11:13 AM

If you’re going to be mad at someone I would direct that ire at the anti-vaccine wackos that are causing our hospitals to fill up with people with new COVID cases. They have had plenty of opportunities to keep this resurgence from happening but instead have decided that they would prefer risking a hospital stay for themselves and their families.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

parent August 2, 2021 - 12:17 PM - 12:17 PM

So why are we blaming those anti-vaccine ‘wackos’?

If the vaccine works, then why are you so concerned? 6600 people out of 135 Million people who are fully vaccinated got the Delta virus. DO THE MATH! It is a very low percentage. None of the vaccines are 100% effective. NONE!

If you are SCARED, you STAY HOME!

I am vaccinated, but I am so tired of people are separating us from each other. You, CHUQ, are one of them. If you want to drive division, do it in your FAMILY, not mine. Not my friends, YOURS!

Yoyo Hop August 2, 2021 - 12:40 PM - 12:40 PM

PUSH-BACK! However you can push-back. Do not comply. Or make it expensive to comply.

If everyone wears a mask, they will continue lock-down logic, until almost everyone gets vaxxed. When almost everyone is vaxxed they will have enough support for vaccine passports. When everyone has a vaccine passport your freedom will depend on getting the latest booster shot.

IT WILL NEVER END IF YOU MINDLESSLY COMPLY

Er Chuq, masks don’t really do anything. They may help the spread a little bit such as preventing spread of a sneeze though not all sneezes are infectious. Masks are about coercive psychology to subdue the masses and keep it under control. Fortunately many Americans are smarter than that not being born yesterday.

The control freaks are terrified of us. I don’t think they have any clear idea how many including those who got the jab are opposed to a two tier society. We’ve spent over two centuries opposed to such an idea. If such a thing happens there will be trouble.

This very much appears to be an attempt at genocide to reduce the population to about 10% what it is now. If you think that is tin foil what then you were a poor history student.

If I were to propose a theory, it would be that the state governors (signing an NDA obviously) were to that if they didn’t tow the line their state would be denied federal funds. That would certainly explain the behavior of these officials. Think of how many dollars that would be for California. If Newsom wanted to be a hero he could have spilled the beans anyway.

Chuq August 2, 2021 - 1:07 PM - 1:07 PM

Do I care if people who chose not to get a vaccine end up in the hospital? Not especially, you have had ample opportunity. Vaccinated people can of course get COVID but they tend to have milder experiences and aren’t often hospitalized. Please take a look at the small percentage of people actually hospitalized with COVID who were vaccinated compared with the very large percentage who were not.

But for some reason skyrocketing levels of people being hospitalized is something the government has to care about. It’s frustrating to continue to have these restrictions because selfish people don’t care enough to get vaccinated.

Captain Bebops August 2, 2021 - 4:49 PM - 4:49 PM

“Skyrocketing”, “Surging” I hear or read this hyperbole seemingly every day but the numbers are nowhere near that. It’s just a fear tactic.

Whatever it takes to keep us voting remotely next year

whatever August 2, 2021 - 11:11 AM - 11:11 AM

I’m with Bob, the goal is to keep pandemic voting policies in place through the midterms. They know it’s going to be a slaughter, the only chance they have remaining is to employ strategies learned from 2020.

Ricardoh August 2, 2021 - 12:20 PM - 12:20 PM

Exactly.

Will August 2, 2021 - 10:51 AM - 10:51 AM

The announcement will be “masks back on everywhere, all the time”. But I believe people have had enough and will not comply. At least I hope that is the case.

This is what you get when you don’t follow the rules.
Another shutdown, all because it’s more important for
the individual to be happy, than the community to be healthy.
Wearing a mask isn’t difficult, washing your hands isn’t either,
and if you think it’s bad now, wait till Mandatory Vaccinations.
It’s Coming Folks, & There’s Nothing You Can Do About It.

More Fear & Paranoia.
Just go to the “health” dept facebook….and you’ll see that they’re nothing more than a Vaccine Dept.

It states Covid “guidance”. Well that means no mandates!

Guidelines” = Requirements
.
Given the availability of vaccinations, the unvaccinated are responsible for themselves.

Let’s move on!!!

welcome back to contra costa lockdown!!

this_that August 2, 2021 - 11:31 AM - 11:31 AM

I admit this is completely anecdotal, but the past week or so, I’ve learned of three people I’ve known who came down with COVID.

All three of them were fully vaccinated. Two of them were middle age, while the third person is 14. Hope this isn’t a common thing, especially the discussion of waning efficacy of these mRNA jabs and the idea of ADE.

Just curious if anyone have similar stories

Bad Nombre August 2, 2021 - 1:52 PM - 1:52 PM

Not local but my niece just got it despite being vaccinated. She reports symptoms like allergy and cold but nothing serious. But she was supposed to start a new job and that had to be delayed.

jp5air August 2, 2021 - 11:34 AM - 11:34 AM

Please do not take out your displeasure of having to wear a mask on frontline workers at area businesses. Business don’t have a choice. Lawyers will be looking to sue employers if someone gets COVID and their company disregarded the mask guidelines. Also, their business liability insurance may not cover them if they decide to not follow the guidelines. In addition, businesses can be fined by Cal OSHA for unsafe practices if they disregard this. Most businesses can’t afford to take these risks. Unfortunately it is the front line workers at these businesses who will have to deal with people who disagree.

What is it Shakespeare said? Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Wait, I though Trump mishandled Covid and once Biden was in office it would be smooth sailing. What happened????

Lulu August 2, 2021 - 11:59 AM - 11:59 AM

Next will be lockdowns and this Country can not take another one, the first one was only till they flattened the Curve, whatever that meant because it took over a year to do that. Next time will be longer! NO mask, not for me, not ever, I like fresh air in my lungs!!

parent August 2, 2021 - 12:10 PM - 12:10 PM

Oh … I can not wait for the ‘good’ news these ‘gods’ are going to bring to us. I am on bended knee waiting for their benevolence, praying that I am worthy to receive such a great honor. Their wisdom has been beyond reproach and well-received during this entire time of turmoil. This has brought peace and servitude to the masses as we worship our our masters. Since we cannot go to school, or out, we cannot learn our rights. All hail the Health Dictators of the Bay Area Counties.

I expect to hear
1. Mandatory Mask Mandates
2. Closure of more business out of the abundance of caution.
3. Considerations to shutting down schools again unless they can magically meet arbitrary guidelines in the 2 weeks.

Anonymous2 August 2, 2021 - 12:12 PM - 12:12 PM

Noncompliance and no understanding of epidemiology are what got us to this point. This is why we can’t have nice things. Grow up, people.

parent August 2, 2021 - 12:29 PM - 12:29 PM

You would have thought that our doctors and political leaders would follow the rules and understood epidemiology. It is a shame that they all wasted their parents money on that ‘education’.

Noncompliance? August 2, 2021 - 12:39 PM - 12:39 PM

During the last lockdown, I NEVER saw anyone enter a business without a mask. Right now in Contra Costa County, 80% of those 12 + have had their first dose. 75% are fully vaccinated. How is that noncompliance? We are never going to have 100% vaccination rate. Six weeks ago we were “allowed” to go without a mask. Given being isolated from every pathogen for 16 months, why are the “health” experts surprised the rise in illness?

Captain Bebops August 2, 2021 - 12:55 PM - 12:55 PM

Epidemiology says that natural herd immunity works quite well too. Isolate those who are at risk for their protection if necessary not blindly. Many of the worlds top epidemiologists who trained many top doctors in the world have been banned from social media for pointing this fact out. Lack of understanding is from the masses who just allow the mainstream media to brainwash them despite decades of not trusting such sources.

Yoyo Hop August 2, 2021 - 12:17 PM - 12:17 PM

Johnson and Johnson sued in HUGE lawsuit over toxic baby powder. “Johnson & Johnson marketed baby powder to Black women amid cancer concerns, lawsuit says”

…and this is one of the corporations trusted to produce an experimental vaccine, one which has no financial liability for the ADVERSE SIDE-EFFECTS that have already numbered in the THOUSANDS?

TG August 2, 2021 - 12:32 PM - 12:32 PM

We’re all so used to wearing masks outdoors. It shouldn’t be so difficult to comply again lol.

Yves Harlowe August 2, 2021 - 1:09 PM - 1:09 PM

A lot of never got used to wearing masks indoors, especially when working out at the gym. It’s pretty hard to breathe through that thing – they get pretty wet when working out and how does that help anything? It’s really difficult to breathe through them especially when they get wet from sweat and exhalation.

I never wore one outside, and only wore one inside when I absolutely had to. I see that Solano county isn’t going with the mandate. There a really good chance I’ll make that drive to get groceries, I hate wearing a mask that much.

annoyed August 2, 2021 - 12:32 PM - 12:32 PM

Don’t be dumb, if a business asks you to put a mask on, put it on, no need making some poor schmuck’s day miserable because you are so offended you have to wear a.stupid mask for 10minutes.

Chris August 2, 2021 - 1:24 PM - 1:24 PM

Just put a damn mask on, the people that work retail get paid nothing and they are already short staffed. You wear it for ten mins they have to wear it all day. It’s not that complicated. If you feel like you have to tell people your views well tough, it’s their business don’t shop there and don’t make it harder on these workers that already have had enough. Go back to your mansions and pensions and enjoy it while these people live day to day and don’t get paid enough to hear your B.s.

anon August 2, 2021 - 6:56 PM - 6:56 PM

Those forced to wear a mask 8 or ten hours a day, the ones you supposedly sympathize with, are the ones who suffer the greatest by mask mandates. If no one is wearing respirators, and guess what like 5 percent at most are, then the masks do very little to stop viral transmission, arguably so little as to be pointless.

Just because you like wearing a muzzle and have taken a experimental mRNA gene therapy with zero manufacturer liability doesn’t mean to get to act like a Nazi and force these things on your fellow Americans.

BORbeliever August 2, 2021 - 2:25 PM - 2:25 PM

If vaccinated people can still get the virus and spread the virus, then even if 100% of the population is vaccinated it will still be around (like the seasonal flu).

If the stated goal is no one gets sick from Covid, ever, then we will be wearing masks and/or locked down for eternity.

Duck August 2, 2021 - 3:29 PM - 3:29 PM
