Capitol Corridor Re-Introducing Discounts For Seniors, Small Groups

Capitol Corridor is re-introducing discounted fares for seniors and small groups to encourage more people to ride its trains following the state’s lifting of most COVID-19 restrictions.

One of the discounts is for people ages 62 and over who ride Capitol Corridor midweek and will get 50 percent off their fare on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Sept. 23.

The other discount allows someone who buys a full-fare ticket on Saturdays, Sundays or holiday Mondays to bring up to five people with them for $5 each through Sept. 19.

“We are excited to start seeing more riders on the train as people head back to offices and leisure travel picks up,” Capitol Corridor managing director Rob Padgette said in a news release. “By offering a variety of fare discounts, we hope to give people more reasons to choose the train to reconnect with friends and visit their favorite places in Northern California.”

All of Capitol Corridor’s discounts and information on how to book a seat on a train can be found at https://www.capitolcorridor.org/deals-promotions/.

How safe and secure is the parking around the station?

RANDOM TASK June 24, 2021 - 8:51 AM - 8:51 AM

Wow pushing for the most endangered age groups to board the trains

Seems the state either has no idea of the past atrocities

Or are trying to impose them

Another gaff by the self absorbed socialist communist democrats agendas

For shame

I mean teachers and politicians up in arms if you wear a shirt with the American flag on the 5th of may or anytime now …really
But they allow a poop emoji with a smiling face
That is obviously racist and sick if you ask me but it’s approved

I mean hey it’s a shirt and sometimes a shirt is just a shirt right

But to offer discount train rides <<<<so wrong and just ignorant
to age groups most likely to die if packed together again is just
A huge fail

The marketing director should be fired
and or if it is a purposely directed assault

By the so called newly blm directed city council of mtz
and its racial equity non white council placed volunteers

Bad form and out of touch with reality

Shame on you mtz council

This is just looooow

How is poop racist? White people poop. Black people poop. Asian people poop. I think you get my gist.
Giving seniors a discount is great. We’re the most vaccinated group. And they’ll still probably make you wear a mask anyhow. The ride up to Reno is beautiful. Especially with snow. I took the train from Ohio to Martinez and it was amazing. I’d love to do it again. At 50% off I may just take a trip

Sure, seniors already grew up in an era of unchecked economic prosperity, where they only had to compete with their own countrymen, when a house could be purchased for two to five years pay, when abundant factory jobs with no requirement of higher education provided enough income for an entire family of 5 or more to exist comfortably and safely. Sure, they destroyed this utopia for their pensions and social security welfare payouts, a ponzi scheme which those paying into currently will never, ever benefit from.

But, let’s give them more for free. They’ve haven’t had it easy enough.

Yea, we caught WWII. It was great!

Justifiable languor June 24, 2021 - 5:22 PM - 5:22 PM

Yep. One car, one telephone, one income, one bathroom, one pair of shoes. Make your own meals – ALL of them. Few choices. No excuses. No whining about “fairness”. Eat what was put in front of you or have it served for breakfast.

Parents went without food so the kids could eat a piece of bread. Saving pennies, patching the holes in you clothes. Sewing your own clothing, inheriting handmedowns. Study after school. Chores on the weekend. More.

@anon Are you opposed to the 50% family and 25% student discounts as well?

You painted your picture with a wide, obtuse brush.

RANDOM TASK June 24, 2021 - 1:40 PM - 1:40 PM

and there you have it

focused on the poop emoji with a smiling face
being ok

but no mention of displaying the american flag
whenever and where ever americans want to
in america and its schools without reprisal or equity bias

the flag stands for everyone yes everyone
who wishes to appreciate it and the freedoms and the people who died protecting it
and the sacrifice it takes to protect it both foreign and democrat
err domestic

a poop emoji is $1.99

wow
when you place more emphasis and defense on a poop emoji
than american values and culture and pride

there is the problem

nuff said

Sorry I didn’t address everything in your prior post. I just found your assertion that a poop emoji is racist rather ludicrous. Next time I’ll try to address each and every comment. Please forgive my ignorance.

When has Amtrak being willing to give discounts even though they are advertised!? It is an issue trying to get a discount for a disabled person!, especially if paying with cash and despite having enough proof of a disability. The employees at the counter are rude, specially one, and don’t seem to want to help. The tickets are very expensive even if is for a short trip like going to the city or Sacramento. And finally, their trains are frequently late! People don’t have an hour or more to wait around hoping for the train to show up if it’s not cancelled or rerouted at the last minute. Amtrak is going the way of BARF, becoming a failure.
