QUESTION: It’s Been A Week, What Have You Noticed Regarding Masks?

by CLAYCORD.com

It’s been one week since the state’s mask mandate was lifted (in most cases).

QUESTION: Do you still see a majority of the people wearing masks outside, at the grocery store, etc., or have you noticed that a majority of the people are going without a mask?

MikeyV June 22, 2021 - 2:13 PM - 2:13 PM

I still see many people wearing.
Outside
In the car
In the store
sometimes two.

Follow me here:
Vaccines are 99% effective > State/county says you don’t have to wear a mask unless unvaccinated > still wearing a mask > unvaccinated > vaccine denier > doesn’t follow science.

It’s now become the mask of shame.

Gittyup June 22, 2021 - 2:43 PM - 2:43 PM

Hardly. It’s the “Mask Of Vaccine Clinical Trials Ongoing – Not FDA Approved.”

The Observer June 22, 2021 - 2:52 PM - 2:52 PM

They are probably getting ready for another smoky wildfire season.

AC June 22, 2021 - 3:20 PM - 3:20 PM

I agree 100 percent. People are entitled to their own decisions but for myself and my loved ones it was never a question not to get the vaccine. While I am in perfect health and young I have family that is immunocompromised or elderly.

Jeff (the other one) June 22, 2021 - 4:21 PM - 4:21 PM

It is an approved vaccine. It may not be a fully approved as per standard review, but the EUA still represents an approval, the drug can be shipped across state lines and administered to a specified population as outlined in the package insert. This was evaluated in a clinical trial (granted, a Phase 1/2/3 is rare, but not unheard of) and the data of about 18,000 subjects dosed with the vaccine, and 18,000 with placebo (a prospectively defined, randomized, controlled trial) were used to establish the safety and efficacy of the vaccine.

Anon June 22, 2021 - 5:16 PM - 5:16 PM

The vaccine is 99% effective???

You claim to “follow science”…..and then you post Fake information. Your post is the post of shame.

Me June 22, 2021 - 6:41 PM - 6:41 PM

@MikeyV

Tell me, Where does it state anywhere that Vaccines are 99% effective? If I am not mistaken. The best one states that they are 95% effective but that does NOT mean you can’t still get it and pass it on to someone who hasn’t been Vaccinated. I am sure you are one of the ones that probably said this Virus is 99% safe as well.

Most people who wear them in cars just got done being somewhere “In a store, At work, Hospital ect” and just forgot to take it off. I do that from time to time.

I just got my 2nd vaccine shot today and I will still be wearing a mask. Not for me but because I deal with elderly people almost every day. My choice.

Pete V. June 22, 2021 - 10:10 PM - 10:10 PM

Haha, imagine saying something as ridiculous as “99% effective” in such an authoritative and condescending manner, when the reality is you have no real understanding of what you’re saying, you’re just mindlessly regurgitating dogma.

First off, it’s 95%, but second and more importantly, that is the RELATIVE Risk Reduction (RRR) between the vaccine and control groups in Pfizer and Moderna (rushed & very flawed) Phase 3 clinical trials. So “95% effective” sounds super impressive don’t it? Well it’s not in this case. The ABSOLUTE Risk Reduction (ARR), which is a more “real world” useful number to use, is ~1.2% for Moderna and LESS THAN 1% for Pfizer. This is what’s known as “REPORTING BIAS” which has been used with great effect to confuse and mislead hundreds of millions of people.

So yeah, a rushed vaccine with unknownlong-term side effects, that’s already caused over 300K injuries in the US including 6000 deaths (which is probably closer to 30K thanks to CDC’s trick they pulled in February with “unclassified deaths”), all for a ONE PERCENT risk reduction with a virus that has a survival rate around 99.7%…gee, sounds very reasonable.

Me June 23, 2021 - 1:46 AM - 1:46 AM

@Pete V

Part of what you say is true and other is not

You are right by saying it’s ridiculous that it’s ridiculous to say it’s 99% effective.

But the 2 things you are wrong are. They may be controlled groups but you have to remember these vaccines are given almost a year ago with still no side effects. Now having long term we still don’t know but the people that were in the vaccine trials have actually lost a little bit of immunity as that was stated with no side effects still. The technology has been around for a little while so I do trust the technology. Also dr. Fauci and a number of other health organizations have stated that it does seem like it actually is more effective than what the trials worth. As for the 300 injuries and the 6000 deaths. That is being bias because you did not read the rest of the reporting. It was stated multiple times by multiple health organizations that it was not proven that these deaths were caused by the vaccines. Some most likely were but most definitely not all were. Insane the survival rate of the virus was 99.7%. That is 100% false. We were in a death rate of over 7% at one point which eventually fell went a lot more people got it to around 4% and 5%. Which has far more than what the vaccines have done to people even if it was at 6000. The survival rate has gone up a lot due to vaccinations.

Pete V. June 23, 2021 - 2:49 PM - 2:49 PM

@ Me,
Haha, oh brother, you actually cited St. Fauci of Serial Murder as some reputable source, and presumably you typed it with a straight face. He’s a corrupt bureaucrat who has at best been flat-out wrong on multiple occasions, and at worst lied about/suppressed information that LITERALLY resulted in people dying. He is a scumbag piece of garbage.

And yeah, thanks for making my point, the vaccines did just start going into arms in trials LESS than a year ago, and then into general public mere months after Phase 3 began, whereas normally it would be minimum 5 years. As for the survival rate, it absolutely is ~99.7% across all age groups…but you want to get into people under 70? It’s over 99.9%. Then we can parse it even further into age range 0-20, it’s >99.9999% yet the ghouls want to inject them with this experimental elixir. Fun Fact: Children/Adolescents were EXCLUDED from Pfizer and Moderna Phase 3, along with Immunocompromised and also Pregnant/Breastfeeding Women…oops, I meant “Birthing People”.

Face it, the vast and I mean OVERWHELMING majority of deaths occur in people who have preexisting comorbidities, particularly obesity and/or old age.

Re: VAERS, you people crack me up…NO ONE had any issues with VAERS for the ~30 years it’s been around as a useful reporting tool that researchers/scientists/doctors have used as part of the vaccine development/evaluation process. Oh but now, NOW, we can’t rely on it…no, we’re supposed to assume that in these over THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND reports of injury to include SIX THOUSAND DEATHS, well it’s all just unsubstantiated rubbish. Even though on your CDC vaccine card it TELLS YOU TO REPORT ADVERSE EFFECTS to VAERS, and doctors are REQUIRED BY LAW TO REPORT, no all the mask/vaccine zombies tell us we just can’t trust the data, won’t even look into it let alone actually believe any of it. Tangentially, when should we expect to hear about all the charges being filed for false reports, the fines and even imprisonment? I mean, since it is ILLEGAL per 18-USC-1001 to enter false reports into VAERS, I’m sure it’ll be any day now since there’s so many family members, healthcare workers, and doctors who are CLEARLY making fraudulent reports.

Fauci….oh man you people slay me.

Mike June 22, 2021 - 2:23 PM - 2:23 PM

I wear mask when I go indoors , whether business, restaurant, etc. I have noticed I have not got a cold in over a year! which is marvelous. I will absolutely continue wearing a mask indoors except when eating.

Anonymous June 22, 2021 - 4:06 PM - 4:06 PM

Prove that it had/has anything with masks.

anon June 22, 2021 - 5:37 PM - 5:37 PM

Me too! I normally always get a cold during the winter but not this year thankfully.

Wage Slave June 22, 2021 - 5:57 PM - 5:57 PM

The colds probably got temporarily snuffed out back when everyone locked down in 2020. They have been pretty much unheard of at my grocery retail work since then. Covid, however has been, and mask use doesn’t seem to correlate with who did or didn’t get it.

I can’t find it, but even the CDC said at one point that cloth masks were only associated with a 2% reduction in spread over the course of something like 20 days. So while they may have some effect, they aren’t some sort of panacea like people seem to think they are. If you really want the level of protection that would prevent you from getting most airborne respiratory viruses, you need a properly fitted N95.

It’s a free country though (used to be anyway), enjoy your mask time.

Me June 22, 2021 - 6:45 PM - 6:45 PM

@Anonymous

A number of sources “Real sources” have said that it has helped with the flu and common cold. Facts as it was stated but the health department and Stanford. It has also helped with a number of things passed on from bypassers.

Bluebird June 23, 2021 - 5:50 AM - 5:50 AM

Mike, it probably has more to do with frequent hand washing than wearing a mask to keep from getting a cold. And not touching your face etc. But it is fine to keep wearing your mask. I just don’t understand those who wear a mask while in the car by themselves.

Simonpure June 22, 2021 - 2:23 PM - 2:23 PM

Actually see many still wearing them…it is allergy season. They sure help me.

Same June 22, 2021 - 2:24 PM - 2:24 PM

More like the mask I wear because I am too busy to understand what G-D rules there are this week and what idiot is going to post a video on Twitter yelling at me so my employer can decide if they want to fire me for being a victim of harassment at the store. I am too busy to deal with SJW crap and it is easier to blend in.

anon June 23, 2021 - 11:07 AM - 11:07 AM

If you get fired you’ll make your normal unemployment, plus $300 a week in extra money. Pray it happens.

hanne jeppesen June 22, 2021 - 2:27 PM - 2:27 PM

We have had no formal communication from management at Macy’s that we can stop wearing the mask. Most employee’s are still wearing the mask, as are most customer’s. However, we have had customer’s not wearing a mask, and now we don’t ask them to please wear a mask, as we use to do. Yesterday I went to Trader Joe’s I wore a mask, and so did most customer’s. I don’t wear a mask if I’m outside and not in a crowd. I expect as more and more people become comfortable without the mask, I will not wear mine. As for work I’m waiting for a formal announcement from management as to where they stand.

Me June 22, 2021 - 6:51 PM - 6:51 PM

This actually has nothing to do with management as it has everything to do with Corporate. Most likely they will say that employees that have been fully vaccinated can unmask and those who haven’t have to wear them. As that seems to be what happens in most places. As for customers coming in. By rule any customer can come in without a mask as long as they have been fully vaccinated but we know. You can’t trust people so a lot most likely haven’t been vaccinated and still come in. Pretty sad honestly.

steve jobson June 22, 2021 - 2:34 PM - 2:34 PM

Yes, I’m glad folks are still wearing masks.

It doesn’t bother me that much and I’d rather we keep safe from getting COVID and prevent spread.

Wage Slave June 22, 2021 - 6:01 PM - 6:01 PM

Show me any evidence that wearing them keeps you safe or slows the spread. Because I can easily point to red states that have similar rates of covid that ended their mandates long ago. As soon as you leave the bay area, almost no one wears them, yet they seem to be in the exact same situation regarding covid as here.

It blows me away how much the party of science is based on faith.

Sancho Panza June 22, 2021 - 2:47 PM - 2:47 PM

I would estimate 75% of people still wearing the mask everywhere I go…no eye contact whatsoever or smiles as if we’re a bunch of Homo sapiens zombies!

martinezda June 22, 2021 - 7:15 PM - 7:15 PM

100% true. When I took my mask off I found myself talking to people more and smiling. Many just stare straight ahead because they are so peoplephobic now

Hanne Jeppesen June 23, 2021 - 2:36 PM - 2:36 PM

AC June 22, 2021 - 3:18 PM - 3:18 PM

My husband and I and most of our family and friends are all fully vaccinated. We do not wear masks now unless we are required to. I still see most people wearing masks in stores etc.

Dawg June 22, 2021 - 3:35 PM - 3:35 PM

I really don’t pay too much attention to what people are doing when I’m out and about. I’ve never liked the mask thingy, but if a business requires one, it’s their prerogative, and I’ll put one on. I’m not sure everybody got the memo that masks aren’t mandated anymore, I went to Rite Aid today and their sign was still in the window requiring masks, and the employees were all masked up.

chuckie the troll June 22, 2021 - 3:55 PM - 3:55 PM

Masks are about as common now as they were in 2019, here in my free state. Only the most infirmed or brain-addled wear one.

The exception is doctor’s offices, although I took my mom to an appointment last week and once in a room with a doctor, the DOCTOR asked if she could take off her mask. We had all been vaccinated, didn’t have any symptoms of Xi Coronavirus, so we decided to breathe freely.

woody June 22, 2021 - 4:04 PM - 4:04 PM

Unmasked around family and friends.
Still wearing the mask like a bandit in the stores. It is my choice.

Credit my not catching a cold or any other illness for over a year to wearing that mask. They really do work.

Ilovepopcorn June 22, 2021 - 5:04 PM - 5:04 PM

I wear a mask inside even though I am fully vaccinated. Because I don’t trust people that are not vaccinated to wear their masks. Also there’s the new Delta variant! I know the chances of me getting Covid are low but it only takes one time I’m not getting it. My problem is I have members of my family that refuse to get vaccinated in Colorado! My father is with him and he’s 97 and they haven’t suggested that he get a vaccine which I think is scary since he’s almost 100 so I’m upset about that but I have no control over it and I’m just gonna have to decide how I’m gonna handle this I can’t wear a mask when I’m around them that’s kind of weird maybe I just won’t go that’s even sadder well thank goodness we have FaceTime!

Jeff (the other one) June 22, 2021 - 4:15 PM - 4:15 PM

I do not wear a mask. I do see many still wearing a mask (or those scarves and other microporous cloth face coverings), probably close to 90% of people in the stores I have been in. I don’t judge (well, not out loud, to each his own), but I also don’t get it.

Winnie The Pooh June 22, 2021 - 4:58 PM - 4:58 PM

I’ve noticed people aren’t weird and freaky anymore when out walking/hiking or biking which is really nice. I have also seen people in stores without masks and I think it’s really cool to see. I still wear a mask cause I need more science before my family and I get the vaccine.

Went camping up by Mendocino last week and pretty much no one was wearing them. Which is fine by me, I assume if you aren’t wearing a mask, you are either vaccinated or don’t care.

It will probably take a little while for most people to adjust back to mask-free living.

ChuckStir June 22, 2021 - 5:31 PM - 5:31 PM

My entire family & I are fully vaccinated including 2 kids over 12. So, I stopped wearing my mask. We still carry it & if a business requires it I will of course put it on because it’s no big deal and I like being a thoughtful fellow citizen whenever possible. But I personally feel like the science says these vaccines are so effective that we don’t need masks. I like to demonstrate my confidence in science and the power of these vaccines by not wearing my mask anymore. And while I always felt like the masks are a very minor inconvenience it does feel great to not wear one!

Since the CDC announcement 3+ weeks ago, customers coming into the restaurant have been doing whatever they want. With the announcement a week ago, almost no one is wearing one now, except for some of us employees who are either not vaccinated or are regularly around family who are not. Any employee not wearing a mask has to provide proof of their vaccination and the company is required to keep records.

Yves Harlowe June 23, 2021 - 6:29 PM - 6:29 PM

I’m visiting in the hill country, around Boerne, Wimberly, Blanco, Kyle, Buda, and a few other small towns. Almost no one was wearing a mask. Not in the restaurants, not in the businesses. I am waiting for some moron fellow customer to question me about my vaccination status. Too many Karens in these communities. I don’t wear my mask in the stores. If they want to have folks wear masks, then they can ask me specifically. I will follow the guidance about not wearing masks now, which should have been the guidance long ago.

I’m fully vaccinated, but I still wear a mask when out away from family and friend pods (all of whom have been vaccinated).

The national statistics are showing a decrease of DAILY DEATHS due to COVID-19.
But the Covid variant is starting to take hold, and the statistics also show that the number of NEW CASES is RISING every day.

At Lucky’s yesterday about one third of the customers were maskless. There was no sign. I asked a clerk, she said masks are not required of the public. All of the staff were masked.

Yolanda June 22, 2021 - 8:55 PM - 8:55 PM

I still see a good percentage of people wearing masks. I’ve gotten so used to wearing masks indoors, that it feels strange to not wear one. I am fully vaccinated, but I do continue to mask in businesses that have signs saying that masks should be worn. I work in a hospital, so I do have to mask there daily. The interesting thing is that today all staff were sent a letter asking us to sign if we are vaccinated and would like to stop wearing masks. There was a disclaimer saying that at this time we are still required to mask. I’m not sure if these signatures will count as votes toward discontinuing the mask requirement.

I’m vaccinated and don’t wear a mask. But I don’t understand why people who are anti- mask because of rights, put down others who choose to exercise their right to wear one. A few things , if you have to take autoimmune suppressant drugs, the vaccine may not work. People have family members who have cancer or other serious problems and try minimize the risk with mask. I work in retail and would commonly see people with mask here and there before the pandemic, but people didn’t notice. One lady who was a regular had a Six year old battling cancer. Mask are not 100% and you can still get it, but what they can do is minimize your virtual load, which can make a difference on how sick you get. People need to understand, that they don’t know everything about ever stranger they see

Yesterday in the article about King Norman’s Wonderland there were several comments to/about “Mark.” I did Ctrl-F, searched the page for “Mark”, but only saw the comments to/about Mark. I assumed the original comment by Mark had been deleted by the moderators.

Today, Mark’s comment is visible which is why I’m wondering about gremlins.

To Do List June 24, 2021 - 3:14 PM - 3:14 PM

The vast majority of internet traffic is spam and other junk. We have no idea what is happening on the other side of these computer screens, but another website I used to go to that discussed my industry had to shut down out of frustration with all the junk postings. It was just too much and they gave up. Do you ever see advertising comments here for hookers in Thailand? No. I think the administrator is doing a great job. Thanks.

I no longer blog, but I remember that WordPress has a built-in filter that trashes certain letter combinations. Some of their choices are obvious, and some left me scratching my head. I suppose I could have tweaked the list, but I never felt like putting that much effort into researching it.

The vast majority of covid deaths now are among those not vaccinated from available data, see link below for 99.9%
Yes that means 0.1% of vaccinated can still died from Covid, let along transmitting it to someone else.
The “Delta Variant” is more infectious than previous variants and spreading in the US.
So mask wearing still has advantages, part of the multi layer series of protections available.

If you are not vaccinated and don’t wear a mask, you ought to be sure your will is up to date. Your choice. Maybe you’ll be lucky as one person in that article described “That but took a LOT out of me”

I have noticed that I still see people driving BY THEMSELVES with the windows up with a mask on………I feel extremely sorry for the human race

A few months back when my dad had a stroke and was able to leave the hospital, his friends would drive him to appointments. They would wear a mask on the way to pick him just to be on the safe side when he got in. They aren’t overly paranoid. Just being exta careful because of the stroke. Also, I had to wear mind over eight hours a day. Can’t tell you how many time I got in my car and drove off with it on because I was so used to it and was in a hurry. The sad part about the human race is now , we judge even a stranger passing by at 40 MPH and and assume we know all about there lives.

I haven’t worn my mask outdoors since May of last year. Businesses haven’t asked me for proof of vaccination so I’m not wearing one in businesses I go into. My work is mandating it for unvaccinated employees which blows, but whatever. I’m happy to be mask free now. And there’s no way in hell I’ll be getting this experimental vaccine.
