Concord Police will host their next UAS (Drone) Neighborhood Zoom Meeting tonight from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

The meeting will be for the following neighborhood groups: Dana Estates, East Concord, Monte Gardens, San Vincente, and Silverwood.

Other meetings will be held in the very near future for all other Concord neighborhoods.

The meeting is to discuss the potential creation of a Public Safety Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS Drone) program.

Small remotely operated UAS, also commonly referred to as drones, have successfully been implemented in Public Safety across the country and these programs have proven to be an efficient and effective tool used to enhance First-Responder services to a community.

RANDOM TASK May 11, 2021 - 12:09 PM - 12:09 PM

while i agree with the first responder notion

we have been doomed by repeated hits on our rights

is there a min altitude they can be at so as not to sit next to my window
is footage recorded and or accessible for scrutiny

look shots fired and people armed and running i could see this being a real good thing

but we have a pro far left dem DA that refuses to even prosecute repeat felons or even prosecute shootings to the full extent of the law

she is compromised and making our children the victims

another question is who came up with the idea

it wasnt joe officer

this can not get this far without political backing

so who is behind the drone so to speak

this does appear to be a first shot of spying on us by police

a clear abuse of power and a steer to a communist natzi regime

yep the dems are employing every tactic to further their bank accounts

again i ask …..

can any dem voter actually tell us how dems have helped your families
how has voting for legal theft helped you and your family
how has a DA that wont prosecute criminals helped your family
how has a vote for higher taxes helped your families

I would not agree due to invasion of privacy. Do you really want cops in your back yard and being a nanny? Concord PD are already crooked and corrupt enough without violating set rules on drones including flying over people’s back yards and unlawful surveillance. If they ever get outside of corruption then maybe within constraints. Police in Concord abuse power and are asked to lie in court then promoted because they protected the department. Color of authority is a serious issue and they do not have public trust.

You trade your civil rights for safety. It’s just a matter of what you prioritize.

Walter Ego May 11, 2021 - 4:06 PM - 4:06 PM

The city can’t afford a helicopter……..

Nope! May 11, 2021 - 6:01 PM - 6:01 PM

Glad I moved out of Concord, but I expect this invasion of our privacy to continue and worsen as the years go by. Many people will think that this makes them safer and will be OK with sacrificing even more freedoms. I’m glad I am as old as I am and remember what real freedom was like.

To Do List May 11, 2021 - 7:07 PM - 7:07 PM

A drone program is not going to increase public safety if you are looking at the big picture. The increase in and high level of crime is due to a political environment that favors criminals over citizens, Prop 47, a bad DA, and a whole list of other items having nothing to do with lacking drones. There is just no comparison between Prop 47 and anything drones would improve, so its playing with words to say this would improve public safety.

anon May 11, 2021 - 7:43 PM - 7:43 PM

No one actually wants this. The police want it, because they want as much power as they can get. This will be used to spy on dissidents, not to catch violent criminals in the act; violent criminals who liberal DAs will immediately let off the hook.

NO! May 11, 2021 - 7:47 PM - 7:47 PM

Don’t we lack enough privacy as is?

Nick May 11, 2021 - 8:53 PM - 8:53 PM

Are they using drones made in China (linked to the CCP)?

Anon May 11, 2021 - 9:37 PM - 9:37 PM

I better not see a drone above my house

Los dog May 11, 2021 - 11:17 PM - 11:17 PM

Concord cops have already been implementing the use of drones for a while now,now they want to do it legally,I dont like the way everything is turning communist, invasion of our privacy, freaking chem trails up the ass,the news media, covid, which is a joke,,the virus is just a ploy to get every single person vaccinated, playing with emotions and our heads, mass ,confusuon, the death toll,I mean all this time they had to come up with a plan to distribute the vac. The year 2021 and nobody could come up with a vaccine any sooner, out of the whole freaking world, why couldnt they put the symptoms and etc. Into a computer and out comes a remwdy,I just cant believe, what is going on nowadays

jay neno May 12, 2021 - 12:04 AM - 12:04 AM

Hell NO!

Paladin May 12, 2021 - 9:41 AM - 9:41 AM

A drone in the air would make concord safer if used only once to follow a fleeing felony vehicle and help iD the driver, preventing or lessening the danger of a police chase. I absolutely want to see this implemented and used daily. People who fear the drone are probably doing something wrong. I would be happy to see the drone flying over my house and the cop operating it can park in my driveway so I can bring them snacks. Back the Blue!

Did anybody attend the meeting? I tried logging in at 6:15 (late due to tech issues at my end) and no joy. Zoom said it was waiting for the host. Wondering if the meeting happened……

Jane May 16, 2021 - 2:37 PM - 2:37 PM

Oh yeah the meeting happened you can tune into it on are High School radio station k b h s 90.5 The Edge you find out all sorts of information there like they’re bringing what they called the set team back which is a privately funded little kid cop power control thieving we’re under FBI investigation disbanded like cockroaches 10 years ago but her back now and now apparently they want to have helicopters to help them out with their thievery backstabbing and spying I’ve been to jail several times for various reasons I have absolutely no problem with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Department they treat people like human beings the Concord police on the other hand I’ve had nothing but problems with them throughout the last 25 years dirty dirty dirty something needs to be done and drones are definitely not what they need I’m also sure my comment will not be posted as to because they are never posted because whoever runs this website doesn’t want the truth to come out
