The National Park Service is holding a virtual celebration to announce the site opening of the Strentzel/Muir gravesite following recent renovations. This event will take place virtually on Wednesday, April 21, 2021.

This will mark the first time in the park’s history and regular access is available to the gravesite without being on a tour. This will be a virtual event, available on social media and on the park website and will provide a history of the site and an overview of the site improvements.

Reservations are not required. Please call the John Muir NHS Visitor Center at (925) 228-8860 if you have questions. To view the virtual event or for more information, please visit the park website at www.nps.gov/jomu.

Following the virtual event on April 22, pedestrians and bicyclists can visit the gravesite Mondays through Fridays 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on weekends by ranger led tour as staffing is available.

Bit of a stretch to refer to a virtual event as “regular access”…
