National Weather Service Expects Wind Gusts Of Up To 55-MPH Tonight, Wednesday

The National Weather Service is forecasting windy conditions this week that could topple trees and cause power outages.

With recent rain in the region, the weather service says fire concerns remain low related to the winds, which are expected to arrive late tonight with gusts of up to 45 to 55 mph at higher elevations during the windiest times Wednesday.

As the system moves east, winds are forecast to subside by Thursday morning, although additional windy weather is possible next weekend, according to the weather service.

People with temporary outdoor structures like medical tents are advised to secure them, especially if they’re downwind of nearby mountains.

Don’t stop or park under a tree. The ground is still wet from the rain, and trees can be blown down more easily. Another thing, stay away from power lines, they too can come down.

Unless you live at the top of Mt. Diablo you will only see a light breeze.
We haven’t had a decent windstorm in a dozen years.

Another false alarm so far tonight. Had a great motorcycle ride to the top of Mt Diablo today. Could see the City pretty clearly, and only a slight breeze. Maybe more wind later tonight(???) I don’t think so. Looks like another Chicken Little/Henny Penny weather warning.
