UC Campuses Planning To Resume In-Person Classes For Fall 2021 Semester

The University of California announced Monday that it’s planning for in-person classes to resume during the fall 2021 semester at all 10 of its campuses.

UC officials credited the widening availability of coronavirus vaccine doses for students, staff and faculty as the driving force behind announcing plans to reopen.

“As the University continues to monitor the evolution of the pandemic, we are also carefully planning a safe return to in-person classes,” UC President Dr. Michael Drake said. “Current forecasts give us hope that in the fall our students can enjoy a more normal on-campus experience.”

Additional details about school health and safety requirements as well as starting dates will be announced by individual campuses, according to UC officials.

Oh, please January 11, 2021 - 7:18 PM - 7:18 PM

I like how college, which is not required that anyone attend, is going back in person. Meanwhile our local districts (of which in person is an actual written requirement for them to provide) probably won’t even be back in person at any point during the next school year. Makes total sense in backward Bay Area land apparently.

@ I can not.
Looks like your cup is half empty.
I’ve been able to appreciate some intelligent discussions here on Claycord. There are winers but I do also read many very thought out posts.
Yes there are the trolls and since everyone’s anon it makes for a too easy expression of things sometimes.

All year long I’ve been watching protests that burn and destroy property without a care from the Left. Even Federal buildings, police and their property have been wounded and burned. So this”protest” thing isn’t unique to the White House.

Maybe it would be nice for us to hear the teachers politic a bit to support returning to the classroom?

We’re all a little frustrated. Our State is in shambles. Prisoners get shots before the elderly? Crazy.
How about giving it to prisoners 65 and above?
In fact prisoners even get unemployment checks. Crazy again. Millions wasted away. Who’s minding the store?
(But don’t question voting tabulation)

Jail has become a revolving door and now the criminals know it. They’re booked and released. We all know that Covid has become the get out of jail card. I think the prisoners knew that before Newsom did. Ha!
And really great, release people who have proven that they can’t follow instructions.

And I’m happy to have Claycord. Without it about all I could find out is that there were over 100 homicides in Oakland last year.

Try filling your cup a little. Things might taste better to you.

@ I Can Not
I have been censored here, too.
And I don’t call people whores or tell them they have dementia.
What gives?

To Do List January 12, 2021 - 11:06 AM - 11:06 AM

JJ: What I recall from the “I can not” post was a hate and rage filled tirade lunging at conservatives as cult members, against either the UC system or teachers (I actually don’t remember), against those who question the covid lockdown, and more. It was the sort of thing I might expect some nut to be yelling to ramp himself up for a physical fight. If you like that sort of thing, perhaps you could go to a bar and find an angry drunk to listen to.

Chuq January 12, 2021 - 12:36 PM - 12:36 PM

It’s true, anti-police brutality protests have resulted in a lot of damage.and something like 19 deaths.

But what about hate crime data as defined by the F.B.I.? In 2019, the F.B.I. collected data on 7,314 criminal incidents motivated by bias toward race or ethnicity or gender identity in 2019. That was the third year in a row with more than 7,000 such crimes being reported (and the agency notes that it believes these are extremely under-reported.

What should be done to address racially motivated crime in the US?

Time for a massive overhaul and corresponding a-slashin’ of tuitions

JJ January 12, 2021 - 6:09 AM - 6:09 AM

Not going to sign the recall petition.

Just got a piece of mail from a republican named Del Beccaro of Newport Beach. Is he related to the Del Beccaro from Walnut Creek who went ahead and built an over priced library after the People voted it down three times?

Anyway, this letter asked for money, of course, to recall Newsom.

I got ten letters from Trumps campaign last year and five from Melania, all asking for money. Very elaborate pieces of mail. Funny, republicans don’t trust mail in ballots, but they can mail out millions of junk mail asking for money.

So this recall started with Republicans?

Singledout January 11, 2021 - 9:47 PM - 9:47 PM

Yes right like they know what the fall of 2021 will be like..hogwash

remember January 12, 2021 - 3:38 AM - 3:38 AM

even coumo, the guy who killed so many seniors but sending them back to their group homes to recover which resulted in the deaths of so many others is saying it is time to open the economy up. then again someone told me that the stores are open, so i guess everyone who is out of work must already be back to work? and maybe the kids who weren’t going to school maybe are again? did someone click their heels together and fix this whole plandemic?

God Bless!

To: I Cannot! Thank you for the simple truth.

Where is the bottom? January 12, 2021 - 6:41 AM - 6:41 AM

A little ‘did you know’…

Did you know the moderna vaccine (1 of 2 currently approved) only offers immunity for about 1 year? (See link below)

Follow up inquiry, if the vaccine only last 1 year, do we really think this is going away within that year, or do we now have a perpetual boogie man always lurking in the shadows?

“ Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia”

Chuq January 12, 2021 - 2:01 PM - 2:01 PM

I get the flu vaccine each year. It hasn’t eradicated the flu from the planet – that’s not what it was intended to do (and some years we learn that that year’s vaccine was less successful than others).

Who told you the COVID vaccine would be a one and done deal?

where is the bottom? January 12, 2021 - 3:13 PM - 3:13 PM

@chuq

so wait…this is like the flu after all? Now I’m confused.

I know that wasn’t what you were saying, but more importantly, if this isn’t going away (if there are articles on it, politicians know the same), how does this function with opening the state back up? Are we never going to open up? are they going to start mandating covid shots? if yes on covid, why not on flu shots?

I guess my overarching concern is that all signs are pointing towards this being around for a while (if not forever), if that is the case…what is the long term plan? How does the long term plan look different that what we are currently doing? The government owes it to people to tell them the truth.

RANDOM TASK January 12, 2021 - 9:25 AM - 9:25 AM

your witnessing fraud and the demise of he country

and watching it

not one group has stood up to the fraud and corruption from the left

including the judges who faced with overwhelming evidence threw out the cases

judges who allowed 3 more days of corruption to the election

judges who allowed changing of election policy months before the election

all these judges are leftists

its obvious the states used the virus to corrupt the election

these things happen in occupied and controlled countries

welcome to fraud and corruption to be a daily thing

your children will be proud you threw away freedom and liberty

for ???

wait why do dem voters want corruption and fraud

what does it get you and your family ???

can any corrupt dem voter tell us why you cheer for corruption and how it helps your family and future ????

Chuqc January 12, 2021 - 2:08 PM - 2:08 PM

So were the Republicans who won elections in these states in November also fraudulent? Do those Republicans need to lose their seats in Congress until there is a recount?

Itsme January 12, 2021 - 9:45 AM - 9:45 AM

Timothy White the Chancellor of the CSUs announced somewhere before Thanksgiving that the CSU system would be going back to face-to-face in Fall 2021. I don’t know why this was not widely reported, but I received an email as I’m affiliated with one of the Bay Area campuses.

I can understand the frustration with the lockdowns and all, but the pushback on a return to normal and opening up the economy by these same doubters is astonishing.

Chris January 12, 2021 - 3:58 PM - 3:58 PM

I can’t wait to read this Summer how they’ll have to move the date to reopen back until the following Spring of 2022 just to be extra safe after Gavin blows the vaccine rollout. Don’t worry because the Dems got your back: Its Trump’s fault.

Student January 12, 2021 - 4:30 PM - 4:30 PM

They said this last semester. This is a trick so student’s that are accepted to UC’s in these upcoming months commit to one and go there. Then August comes and students are moving into dorms, they’re going to change it to remote learning.

ZZ January 12, 2021 - 5:42 PM - 5:42 PM

Yep, that’s EXACTLY what they’re doing. That’s how they’re going to keep making their money.
