KP November 23, 2020 - 12:33 PM - 12:33 PM

I hope that dispatch hangs up on people who do call. This whole “report your neighbor” thing is disturbing.

Sick of it November 23, 2020 - 12:58 PM - 12:58 PM

It’s real disturbing when you look back in history how many times that has been used by bad governments. Germany and Russia for example

Mutts November 23, 2020 - 1:16 PM - 1:16 PM

Very disturbing. Why don’t people get it? Look back in history. Instilling fear is a driving force.

Mother of Dragons November 23, 2020 - 5:33 PM - 5:33 PM

Agree, I find it weird to report your neighbors. I would not do it.

Ricardoh November 23, 2020 - 12:41 PM - 12:41 PM

You would have to be one nosy bad neighbor to do that.

Simonpure November 23, 2020 - 12:43 PM - 12:43 PM

Nope…not my business.

Dawg November 23, 2020 - 12:47 PM - 12:47 PM

No, I’m not a fink. By the way, I heard our fearless leader (Newsom) is in a 14 day quarantine. He’s blaming it on a CHP officer assigned to his security detail that has tested positive, and that the party at the French Laundry has nothing to do with it. Yeah, right. The problem with a narcissist is they have no shame and it’s always somebody else’s fault.

The Mamba November 23, 2020 - 3:22 PM - 3:22 PM

The timing is suspicious…

Badge1104 November 23, 2020 - 4:34 PM - 4:34 PM

I would call the police on Gavin Newsom’s gathering. I bet he’ll be gathering with more than just his wife and daughter. I’m tempted to try to drive by his home to see how many people are inside on Thanksgiving. But don’t know which one he’ll be at. ie : the governor’s mansion in Sacramento, or is swanky City place, or his wine country place.

Barbara Aiello November 24, 2020 - 4:15 PM - 4:15 PM

Newsome son was exposed by a student who tested positive to Covid. That is why the whole family has to Quarantine

Dawg November 24, 2020 - 9:47 PM - 9:47 PM

Barbara Aiello, how do you know, did you witness his son being exposed, or do you just believe everything Newsom says?

MikeT November 23, 2020 - 12:51 PM - 12:51 PM

I would not, but there are many who would. It happens a lot with the “spare the air” days, and people report their own neighbors for having a fire in their fireplace. Sounds cowardly to me.

JoAnne November 23, 2020 - 12:53 PM - 12:53 PM

I agree, very disturbing, just to call to report
on a holiday family gathering.

TeacherMom November 23, 2020 - 12:58 PM - 12:58 PM

No. None of my business.

To Do List November 23, 2020 - 12:59 PM - 12:59 PM

The biggest parties in my neighborhood are at the house of an ex-cop.

Same November 23, 2020 - 3:29 PM - 3:29 PM

Garen, is that you?

Bay Area Native November 23, 2020 - 1:05 PM - 1:05 PM

Absolutely not, if family feels comfortable being together I say let them. I see a large difference between a consensual gathering between relatives and gathering in a public setting of strangers.

Reason November 23, 2020 - 2:42 PM - 2:42 PM

What’s the difference? Both gatherings would be “consensual.” The virus does not distinguish between relatives and strangers. Here’s an example of 15 relatives contracting COVID after they met for a “consensual” birthday party: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/11/23/texas-birthday-party-covid19-video/

The Professor November 23, 2020 - 6:17 PM - 6:17 PM

@ Reason-

You never answered the question. But from you post, I sense that you would Karen your neighbors.

One of the kids on my street had a party yesterday with around 15 guests. But I see nothing!

Jeff November 23, 2020 - 1:05 PM - 1:05 PM

Absolutely not! Perish the thought.

Comrade Grandkid November 23, 2020 - 1:12 PM - 1:12 PM

I dont believe people should be gathering in large groups but I am very uncomfortable with the idea of calling the police and reporting neighbors like that. Too creepy.

mayflower November 23, 2020 - 1:15 PM - 1:15 PM

why ask the question? this is America. I would certainly not….

Martinezmike November 23, 2020 - 1:15 PM - 1:15 PM

Only if my neighbor was a hypocritical gub-mint offical.

Town Crier November 23, 2020 - 1:16 PM - 1:16 PM

Only if it were hypocrite Newsom

Anon November 23, 2020 - 1:20 PM - 1:20 PM

We won’t be answering the door, so they’re going to have to send SWAT. Won’t be answering any questions either (learned that from politicians).
Won’t be contact tracing, phones will be on airplane mode.

little rant November 23, 2020 - 2:49 PM - 2:49 PM

politicians answer questions….its just always a lie…..or I dont recall…

Doh November 23, 2020 - 7:49 PM - 7:49 PM

A phone on airplane mode is a game boy.

Specksynder November 23, 2020 - 1:22 PM - 1:22 PM

Maybe a symbol on their door? A star perhaps? Just so we know where they are.

Nancy November 23, 2020 - 1:31 PM - 1:31 PM

You mean the type of gathering involving rap music, pot smoke, and assault rifles discharging into the air? Hell yes, I call the cops every year.

bdml November 23, 2020 - 3:32 PM - 3:32 PM

Ok Karen

Rollo Tomasi November 23, 2020 - 11:11 PM - 11:11 PM

Assault rifles, Nancy? You’re adorable.

Day n Night November 24, 2020 - 7:30 AM - 7:30 AM

The music and pot smoke are not illegal, and I doubt there are assault rifles being discharged in the air. We’d hear a lot more about it in the news if that were the case…

Bobfished November 24, 2020 - 8:21 AM - 8:21 AM

Nancy,
Can you give us the definition of assault rifle?

Ano November 24, 2020 - 2:38 PM - 2:38 PM

@bobfished
A squirt gun……….. lol

Jay Roller November 23, 2020 - 1:34 PM - 1:34 PM

Never call the cops unless you want someone to die!

bdml November 23, 2020 - 3:31 PM - 3:31 PM

So if you have to call the police you would die, how is that?

Comrade Grandkid November 23, 2020 - 3:50 PM - 3:50 PM

Bdml because the police have a habit of shooting first and asking questions later. The have been multiple instances where the cops shot the person who called them. Calling the cops is often a death sentence for non-white people.

Rollo Tomasi November 23, 2020 - 11:14 PM - 11:14 PM

Do you have any idea how many times law enforcement responds and never does anything more than speak with those on scene? You’re so full of s**t your eyes are brown. Stop getting your info from social media.

Ano November 24, 2020 - 2:52 PM - 2:52 PM

99% of the time the police do NOTHING. The “facts” you read on social media are not real. You have to investigate information and think for yourself. That is the reason, as a teacher, I am so focused on my students learning how to learn and then advocating for themselves. That way one day when they are all grown up they will not sound like you.

It’s not a race problem when the police are called it’s a listening problem of the suspects. If the police say STOP then stop. If they say don’t reach for a gun then don’t reach for it. If you don’t want the police in your life don’t do things that bring them there. It’s so simple.

Roz November 23, 2020 - 1:48 PM - 1:48 PM

No!,…. I like my Neighbors.
More that likely, none are having any Thanksgiving gatherings anyway.

concord grape November 23, 2020 - 1:52 PM - 1:52 PM
Rollo Tomasi November 23, 2020 - 1:52 PM - 1:52 PM

Nope. And I don’t believe any of my neighbors have sworn fealty to Fuhrer Newsome, either.

Yves Harlowe November 23, 2020 - 1:53 PM - 1:53 PM

No. I’m not a member of the Stasi. Besides, we’re going to a relative’s home for Thanksgiving. Why would I narc on someone else?

missimee November 23, 2020 - 1:54 PM - 1:54 PM

Absolutely not! I am not a fascist.

Hmmm November 23, 2020 - 1:54 PM - 1:54 PM

No. I’d call them idiots, but I wouldn’t call the cops.

Rollo Tomasi November 23, 2020 - 4:24 PM - 4:24 PM

And I’m sure the feeling is mutual…

Doh November 23, 2020 - 7:50 PM - 7:50 PM

No but I’d avoid them like the plague. 😉

RANDOM TASK November 23, 2020 - 2:03 PM - 2:03 PM

Then you might be a democrat !

🍷🍺 🦃🥬🥕🥔🍠🥘🍰🥧🍮

Kind Neighbor November 23, 2020 - 2:59 PM - 2:59 PM

Absolutely not. This reminds me of calling the Gestapo on the Jewish community during WWII. I want the police to use their resources to combat true crime like theft, human trafficking, and illegal narcotics.

amigo November 23, 2020 - 3:07 PM - 3:07 PM

Only on the ones who had Biden/Harris signs displayed.

Marco November 23, 2020 - 3:14 PM - 3:14 PM

Sounds like a yes

George November 23, 2020 - 3:22 PM - 3:22 PM

Absolutely Not. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

The Mamba November 23, 2020 - 3:26 PM - 3:26 PM

No, I wouldn’t, because I don’t philosophically agree that it is the governments job to dictate how we live every facet of our life. People have to make their own decisions, and I have no idea if people got tested and have quarantined leading up to Thanksgiving.

bdml November 23, 2020 - 3:28 PM - 3:28 PM

Absolutely not and anyone who does is a punk…

THAT GUY November 23, 2020 - 3:55 PM - 3:55 PM

Would never call but I would totally put on a cop 👮 uniform & raid the party & pepper spray all with tofurkey…. HAPPY Holidays Claycord

Bobfished November 23, 2020 - 4:17 PM - 4:17 PM

No! History teaches us some harsh lessons when people start doing this!

Rollo Tomasi November 23, 2020 - 4:23 PM - 4:23 PM

Actually, if I had a problem with any of the scenarios you mention I’d have a conversation with my neighbor.

Russ Sayin November 23, 2020 - 4:29 PM - 4:29 PM

I’m only calling if they put breadcrumbs on their Mac and cheese

Exit 12A November 23, 2020 - 4:38 PM - 4:38 PM

No.

We stay out of people’s business and they stay out of ours.

BernieM November 23, 2020 - 4:42 PM - 4:42 PM

No, the cops wouldn’t show up anyway….

However, if it was reported as one of these: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/22/nyregion/sex-club-covid-sheriff-nyc.html
😁

Rollo Tomasi November 24, 2020 - 8:24 AM - 8:24 AM

So, law enforcement not responding is the reason you wouldn’t call? Nice. Reminiscent of the scumbag Representative Ted Lieu D-CA, stating that while he’d love to regulate free speech, the Constitution stands in his way.

Law Abiding Citizen November 23, 2020 - 4:54 PM - 4:54 PM

If the police go to your neighbor’s house, that might push their guest limit over the 3 household limit set by Chairman Newsome. And we all know that would be like a COVID bomb going off in your neighborhood.

CAtoTX November 23, 2020 - 4:58 PM - 4:58 PM

@anon you’re probably the same person that claimed Russian Collusion, said Trump is not your president, love Gavin Newsome, and think Joe Biden is fully with it upstairs.

Chuq November 23, 2020 - 5:11 PM - 5:11 PM

No, that’s right up there with calling the cops because the neighbors are noisy after 10:00pm.

ChuckStir November 23, 2020 - 5:17 PM - 5:17 PM

Highly unlikely Gavin Newsom is in quarantine, he is just trying to make himself look good. And if one rats out their nieghbors they have already drank the Kool-Aid.

Gittyup November 23, 2020 - 5:34 PM - 5:34 PM

Some of you may be interested in what Ted Nugent has to say about restrictions on Thanksgiving gatherings. All sounds very familiar to what we hear pretty regularly on Claycord.

https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/ted-nugent-blasts-thanksgiving-gathering-restrictions-you-cant-tell-me-how-many-people-i-have-at-my-house/

Winnie The Pooh November 23, 2020 - 5:42 PM - 5:42 PM

No I wouldn’t but I’m also not an asshole neighbor. What other people do is there business. There choices. But if there littering and causing issues then possibly.

nytemuvr November 23, 2020 - 9:23 PM - 9:23 PM

Someone needs their mouth washed out with Lava (the old black soap bar) and a toothbrush, it worked on me. BTW…maybe you need an elementary English refresher course too…..”there, their, they’re”.

Amateur Teacher November 23, 2020 - 5:44 PM - 5:44 PM

Only if they didn’t invite me.

chuckie the troll November 23, 2020 - 5:49 PM - 5:49 PM

Call the cops? Hellno! I’m sure we have a few people in our neighborhood who would like to be appointed block warden, however, I will not participate.

Now if it sounds like a nice party, I might go over for a quick visit and a pre 10 pm libation.

Ilovepopcorn November 23, 2020 - 6:49 PM - 6:49 PM

No way! Tell who anyway? It is a shame that people live carelessly, but those are the risks they want to take. I have to pay attention to my behavior not theirs. I am meeting with my family 5 miles away. We are celebrating Thanksgiving outside. Masked up and six feet apart! I have not seen them for a year.

Marco November 23, 2020 - 10:04 PM - 10:04 PM

no youre not it would be way too cold.Nice try of overdoing it dem style just to disagree
.

Rollo Tomasi November 23, 2020 - 11:19 PM - 11:19 PM

“I have to pay attention to my behavior not theirs.“

Now you’re catching on, Skippy!

Chuq November 24, 2020 - 7:48 AM - 7:48 AM

My family did the same thing in saturday- we used two outdoor heaters, separate card tables and all the sides and turkey were divided ahead of time. Some of these virus deniers act like there is no alternative way to do anything when they just need to think creatively.

Ilovepopcorn November 25, 2020 - 1:32 AM - 1:32 AM

I decided to cancel the Thanksgiving celebration after all. That is what they recommend to do! So I will. I bought my great nephews toys and neat Batman face masks. I will just drop off tomorrow before Thanksgiving. Sad.

Comrade Grandkid November 25, 2020 - 7:34 AM - 7:34 AM

Aw tough decision Popcorn but a safe decision. Your family is lucky to have you. Batman facemask sounds cool. I wish I had one.

Caskydiver November 23, 2020 - 7:51 PM - 7:51 PM

You gotta be kidding….

The government has no business telling anyone who they can invite over for dinner. I hope lots of people flagrantly disobey this “order”.

Lari November 23, 2020 - 11:01 PM - 11:01 PM

I wish we had family out here just so we could defy Gavin’s edict. But all of our relatives and closest friends are in New York. The Californian friends we have would never step out of line, even if we all took COVID tests.

Rollo Tomasi November 24, 2020 - 8:26 AM - 8:26 AM

Lari, you need to get out and find more friends.

Ilovepopcorn November 25, 2020 - 1:43 AM - 1:43 AM

There are exceptions. A worldwide surge on a very deadly pandemic is one of them. We have to use common sense. This is a highly infectious disease. Unfortunately people are going to spread this all over the place because they think they can do what they please without THE GOVERNMENT telling them what to do!! We will shut down and so will our economy. What go’s around …….comes around. Just sad and dumb. You watch how this turns out with all the families meeting got Thanksgiving. It is going to be awful.

The Fearless Spectator November 23, 2020 - 9:32 PM - 9:32 PM

I wouldn’t, but a lot of Newsom subscribers would.
“We’ve got to close down the state, empty the prisons, and open the borders. It’s the only way to defeat the virus”.

Bad Nombre November 23, 2020 - 9:42 PM - 9:42 PM

Nah. Just means more real estate hitting the market when they kick the bucket.

Savagette November 23, 2020 - 10:08 PM - 10:08 PM

I would not. My neighbor across the street (kid in his 20’s) had parties on Thursday, Saturday, and yesterday. Very loud, music blasting well past midnight and neither I nor any of my neighbors, to my knowledge, called the cops. This Covid snitch line they have set up is ridiculous. People calling mostly on business I believe. It’s just wrong. Starting to feel less and less like America around here.

Hanne Jeppesen November 23, 2020 - 11:02 PM - 11:02 PM

No, I would not, as long as they stayed in their own house and yard. Everyone have the same information and warnings, if they are willing to take the risk it is up to them, they will be in the ones dealing with the consequences.

Rollo Tomasi November 24, 2020 - 8:27 AM - 8:27 AM

“they will be in the ones dealing with the consequences.”

The better than 99.7% survival rate, for example?

jjshawk November 23, 2020 - 11:20 PM - 11:20 PM

I don’t care about things that are not my concern. Get together with family/ friends at all your own (hopefully calculated) risks.

It’s a great time to “stick it to the man” (or woman); because, the men/women who make the rules, break their own rules when away from the public eye, and it’s funny when they get found out.

jose November 24, 2020 - 5:17 AM - 5:17 AM

No I would not turn in my neighbor for this or his fire-place.
Sounds like the California Air Resource’s ‘Turn in a Smoking Vehicle’ program
Learn from history’s past when people start doing this kind of stuff..

Sam Malone November 24, 2020 - 7:28 AM - 7:28 AM

I would call them on Newsom, Pelosi, Schumer, Booker, Harris, Biden and almost forgot Becton. But as usual they can do anything they want and no repercussions.

ToldUSo November 24, 2020 - 8:27 AM - 8:27 AM

I wouldn’t call the cops on my neighbors and they party a few times a week with MANY folks over. My wife and I just share our heads and tell our kids “you wonder why things are getting worse….well people like that is what is causing this to take longer”. It’s sad but I truly believe too many people just don’t care. I would say the cops should just drive around and if they see any parties give a ticket. Fines should be high ($1,000 for first offense).

JG27AD November 24, 2020 - 9:28 AM - 9:28 AM

I would call the authorities to report a Antifa neighbor since he would be a terrorist.
Never call the Gestapo on the good people giving thanks to God for His blessings on our country.

AD

Dorothy November 24, 2020 - 11:37 AM - 11:37 AM

None of my business what the neighbors do inside their own home. Excessive noise after 10 or 11 PM is something else – especially for those that have to go to work the next day.

Ano November 24, 2020 - 3:31 PM - 3:31 PM

We have a block party every year right before Halloween . Everyone and anyone is welcome. We hand out fliers and post them on the streets in surrounding areas. We get a permit from the city to close down our court and then the police chief has to sign off on it so they are aware too. We bring in cotton candy machines, snow cones, hot dogs, pot luck food, rent a ton of tables and chairs, do a costume contest for adults and children, have a Halloween parade, bring out fire pits and heaters, and so much more. Every year someone calls the police. They come and are so in shock to see it . Families of every color, class, and size are there having a great time. We usually ask for the permit to end at 1am due to clean up but end the party around 11pm.
Two years ago the police show up and have multiple cars respond. I seen 4. They come walking up and have this look of complete shock. One stands next to me at the entrance area and a few go hand out stickers to the kids. The officer says to me “ you don’t understand, we never get calls like this . This restores my faith in humanity. “ I asked him what he meant and he said “ when we get calls for large block parties it’s because of a shooting , gangs, fights, drugs, and bad behavior. You guys have a permit , everyone is positive and happy, everyone is walking home, and this is family focused and community building based.” I told him that is our goal and he said next year he wants to take the night off and bring his family. I told him he is welcome to come anytime and to get some food on his way out. He said we will not be back here tonight and that we could keep the party going for as long as we wish and to have a good night.
What struck me was the tear in his eyes and the shock on his face when he realized what we were doing. We should have more things like this. It has to start somewhere so when we are over Covid 19 start a potluck on your street with your neighbors. Be the one to pick the date and make the fliers, throw your kids in a stroller and go door to door and pass them out, apply for the permit it’s free.
Our children play in the court and go house to house. When we need them back we just walk outside or call the neighbor and say hey are they at your house , I make dinner and feed them all. When my son breaks his is arms, legs and elbows they all come down and cheer him up. None of this happened before we moved in so build it in your neighborhood.

We have many elderly in our area, Many widowed . So when I make dinner for my family I make extras and send them down to them all. One elderly couple lives next door and the wife in the last 6 months has taken a turn for the worse mentally. it has killed me to have to call the police in order to get her to safety because she is combative. We know it’s not who she really is so we just love her anyway and hope that she finds peace and can get to sleep.

I hope whoever reads this will do something to make positive changes to society instead of feeling like they are owed something.
