Two Arrested In Connection With East Bay Burglary Spree After Arriving To Probation Meeting In Stolen Vehicle

Two people have been arrested in connection with a rash of auto burglaries at several Contra Costa County parks in recent weeks, the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department announced this week.

Police said John Fouhy and Rachel Whitlatch were arrested on suspicion of multiple felonies.

The police department had been investigating a rash of burglaries and identified Fouhy and Whitlatch as suspects.

On Thursday, the two appeared at a pre-scheduled morning probation meeting, and officers questioned them about the burglaries.

Police said the couple arrived to the meeting in a recently stolen vehicle, and investigators found several stolen items and fraudulently purchased items during a search.

During the search, officers say they recovered stolen property valued at more than $3,000.

Police said the couple might be responsible for more crimes in the area.

How do we explain stupid? And what is a “pre-scheduled” meeting? Either it was scheduled or unscheduled.

Day n Night November 23, 2020 - 7:38 AM - 7:38 AM

I took it as meaning that the meeting was scheduled before the two were identified as suspects in the burglary cases. So the meeting wasn’t set up specifically just to question them about those crimes.

Rather certain Police did not find MENSA membership cards in their personal effects. Showing up to probation office in a hot car. Really ? ? ?

Would appear combined, they lack any legal skill set and brain power to hold down a living wage job.

But this is California where having drugs for personal use is a misdemeanor and if you are a property criminal, breaking into vehicles or most other criminal activity kept under $950, is maybe 10 days in jail and probation.

Since they’re on probation they’re already familiar with California’s GIANT revolving door county jail systems. Criminals have to really work very hard to catch a Felony case and do real Prison time.

By electing liberals to office, you have volunteered to be victims of their soft on crime policies.

Nothing says screw the law like showing up to a probation meeting in a stolen vehicle with stolen goods. Wow.

Badge1104 November 22, 2020 - 5:28 PM - 5:28 PM

So let me guess: they won’t go to jail but just stay on probation where they can continue their extracurricular criminal activity, right?
This is insane! They need to go to jail and stay there!!!!

Ok again the question to democrats and dem voters and anyone backing democrat bill to allow them to abuse your child

How has anything the democrat regime of this state has helped you and your family

Come on you keep voting the same and slamming anyone else

Original G November 22, 2020 - 10:25 PM - 10:25 PM

“… democrat bill to allow them to abuse your child ”

Collective liberal blank stare, they have no clue.

“California legislators passed a law Monday easing sex offender registry rules for those who commit sodomy or other sex acts with minors in order to end “discrimination against LGBTQ young people on the sex offender registry.” ”

At federal level, how about those metal signs protecting kids, gun free zones where killers are assured of no armed resistance as they kill.
Because good guys with guns aren’t allowed.

Dude posted an eagle in front of the American flag on FB 😂 Nothing wrong with that, I just doubt he’s a “liberal”

ZZ November 22, 2020 - 9:48 PM - 9:48 PM

@popcorn So I guess you mean Democrats that continuously vote for crap laws and crap politicians are better than Republicans that vote against them? You don’t like the outcome of the crap law, but still think Republicans who voted against them are worse than Democrats. You’re looking in a warped mirror.

Dawg November 22, 2020 - 9:51 PM - 9:51 PM

A smart crook would have parked the car around the corner out of sight.

Bad Nombre November 22, 2020 - 10:10 PM - 10:10 PM

The people that came up with the ammunition background check could have prevented this. $1 fee at every gasoline purchase to conduct a background check and if no car registered in your name, a standard car registration fee payment to conduct the background check (and waiting period) would quickly stop this sort of thing.

Carmen faile November 22, 2020 - 10:17 PM - 10:17 PM

WOW John I thought you said you didn’t want to go back to jail you didn’t even make it to 6 month you come from a very good family what a big disappointment you are to your parents the worse put about this whole thing is that you drug someone else down with you 8 hope that theyes put you away for a long time this is your third strike

Don’t worry auto glass salespeople, DA Diana Becton will recommend drug treatment in lieu of prosecution and they will be back to smashing car windows in no time.

Sign from Above November 23, 2020 - 7:50 AM - 7:50 AM

Well then Popcorn, you’ve answered your own question. You blame the Democrats, but believe they are better than the other. Given that statement (which makes no sense by the way), I’m sure you voted Democrat. Therefore, YOU are the problem. You see that they are ruining our society, and yet you vote for them.

I’ve said it many times before and I’ll say it again. Suck it up. You get what you vote for. And, as is perfectly obvious with the dramatic increase in property crimes over the last couple of years, it’s only going to get worse. I suggest you just put your head back in the sand. That way you won’t see the fruits of your labor!

Sam Malone November 23, 2020 - 7:56 AM - 7:56 AM

Just keep voting in the socialist, liberals and enablers. See what we not have to deal with. Why can we not get these loser officials out of office?

Sad state of affairs. Get smart and take back our country, county and lives.

RANDOM TASK November 23, 2020 - 8:46 AM - 8:46 AM

if you show up …to your… probation appointment in a stolen vehicle

you might be a democrat

Fred P. November 23, 2020 - 8:48 AM - 8:48 AM

Popcorn- you voted for the democrat politicians and FAWN over everything they do and say – and insult anyone that disagrees with you.

Yet you have a problem with the asinine laws passed in California. Guess what … you have nobody to blame except yourself.

Take your hypocrisy elsewhere – or learn about critical thinking.

You say the dems aren’t perfect but they’re “better than the other?”

The conservatives have been pushing for stricter laws, and the liberals have been enacting less strict laws, decriminalizing many crimes.

You can’t have it both ways.

Next time your $hit gets stolen, you can thank the politicians that YOU voted for.

Building D at Concord City Hall housed Municipal Courts and County Superior Courts but one year burned to the ground and was never rebuilt. Judges there often confiscated drivers licenses, and the defendants would go out to their cars in the City parking lot and drive away. Sometimes Police officers would be waiting on the street, stop the cars and bust the drivers.
