We will be filming a pre-production trailer for “They Don’t Cast Shadows” at Berkshire Book store on November 28th at 3PM. Come and watch a “Hollywood” shooting. Get autographs from the stars!

Sam October 28, 2020 - 3:09 PM - 3:09 PM

F Hollywood. “Autographs from the stars” laughably desperate..

Anon October 28, 2020 - 5:43 PM - 5:43 PM

Most “shootings” are Hollywood productions.

Sam October 28, 2020 - 5:52 PM - 5:52 PM

Ahhh I see what you did there..

bdml October 29, 2020 - 10:32 AM - 10:32 AM

Why would anybody idolize hollywood idiots?

parent October 28, 2020 - 2:15 PM - 2:15 PM

I like how there are lots of green check marks, but many of those green check marks have restrictions. They try to make it look positive ..

On a more serious note, why aren’t team sports open yet? Many of them do not require contact; ie baseball, softball, … I get wrestling and basketball …

Ash October 28, 2020 - 2:52 PM - 2:52 PM

yet pools are ok? kind of like how looting/riots are ok but not going to church.

Led October 29, 2020 - 9:38 AM - 9:38 AM

Yeah, no-contact or low-contact sports should be open. People need recreation and exertion and socializing of *some* kind over a period of 7-18 months. Outdoor stuff is low risk, high reward when it comes to Covid.

Ash October 28, 2020 - 2:48 PM - 2:48 PM

don’t see common sense listed as open, so clearly we have a ways yet to go

an iota of maturity October 29, 2020 - 12:42 PM - 12:42 PM

It”s Concord, you expect too much.

chuckie the troll October 28, 2020 - 3:04 PM - 3:04 PM

What’s not open is in-person Public Schools, which are still being held hostage by the “Teacher” unions. My old boss used to say, “Fire 5 people around here, for cause or at random, and watch performance improve!”. It’s still true today.

PESFG October 28, 2020 - 3:26 PM - 3:26 PM

Hey Scumsome and county lords! Y’all are forgetting that we NEED LIBRARIES TO BE OPEN!!! Currently, the libraries are only offering front door service and that isn’t enough! Students k-12 and college need to use library services. I guess it’s true that keeping people uneducated is one of the goals. Keeping libraries shut is not inclusive!

K October 28, 2020 - 4:37 PM - 4:37 PM

Libraries were supposed to open with retail. There’s no excuse for this. With schools, recreational sports and libraries being closed our kids are struggling!

anon October 28, 2020 - 4:11 PM - 4:11 PM

Why are high school football players allowed to practice football?

bdml October 29, 2020 - 10:33 AM - 10:33 AM

Why do you care or require an explanation?

claycordcreekmike October 29, 2020 - 11:26 AM - 11:26 AM

worry about yourself, if you want to stay isolated then by all means go ahead. High schools have approval from local districts for pods and workouts. long overdue and the kids need an outlet, all sports should be open 100%

anon October 29, 2020 - 5:31 PM - 5:31 PM

Look look it up, playing football in highschool is FAR MORE LIKELY to lead to death than a Covid-19 case for a 18-and-under age demographic.

Highschool football is literally, factually more dangerous for highschool students than covid 19.

Firstw October 28, 2020 - 4:11 PM - 4:11 PM

Kaiser’s still closed and nobody cares. How are people supposed to get cancer screenings over the phone? How are stroke and heart attack patients getting fully treated over videoconferencing. And yet, we’re still paying full-price insurance premiums!

Sandy G October 28, 2020 - 7:02 PM - 7:02 PM

Kaiser is open if you really need it. Your doctor will advise you and make an appointment with the department you need. I’ve had no problem getting the care I need

bdml October 29, 2020 - 10:34 AM - 10:34 AM

That’s great Sandy but not everyone is having your experience…

Natalie October 29, 2020 - 1:13 PM - 1:13 PM

Kaiser services for cancer screening, lab testing, imaging and oncology are open. Cardiology services are available. Urgent care services are operating.

Telling people that Kasier is totally shut down is disinformation that can cause direct harm to people.

Dorothy October 28, 2020 - 4:36 PM - 4:36 PM

I suppose it’s okay that the funeral and cemeteries are open. If the virus got me I wouldn’t want to be left laying around somewhere. Shouldn’t they have been part of the essential services?

Derb October 28, 2020 - 5:13 PM - 5:13 PM

Huh? K-12 Schools aren’t open. So why does this chart say they are?

parent October 29, 2020 - 8:03 AM - 8:03 AM

Cause this image is a gimmick. They are trying to ‘trick’ us by saying schools are open, but we know that they are only open for distance learning … So technically, schools are ‘open’, just not what we, the normal folks, would consider open. They are trying to get us to accept a ‘new normal’. Well, they can take that new normal and shove it where the sun don’t sine on the human body.

Led October 29, 2020 - 9:39 AM - 9:39 AM

The county says they are free to open, but the district and unions have to actually do it.

America October 28, 2020 - 7:39 PM - 7:39 PM

It’s all BS !!! Newscum has no intention of reopening , he loves his power that he has given himself too much ! and sadly , the heavily democratic dominated legislature won’t defend us against his Unconstitutional power grab!!! Vote all the incumbents out !!! Vote Newscum out ! Sign the recall petition. If you signed before June 10 , it doesn’t count. You have to download and sign the petition from this site: recallgavin2020.com or look for the signing locations and go there!

Puffandstuff October 28, 2020 - 8:39 PM - 8:39 PM

Thank you @ America! I did sign it before June 2020 so I will be signing again ASAP!

Frustrated October 28, 2020 - 9:14 PM - 9:14 PM

To those who say Gavin and others do not want to reopen, how is it beneficial to them to have schools, sports and economy shut down? Why wouldn’t they want their counties/states to be flourishing??

Sam October 28, 2020 - 9:28 PM - 9:28 PM

You are operating in the old paradigm. The push for communism is here. Flourishing is not part of the new normal. It’s time you upgrade your understanding of what’s going on in the world.

Downtown WC Rez October 28, 2020 - 9:49 PM - 9:49 PM

Think about why politicians get elected, or why they become popular. Most often, it’s because they promise change for the positive.

When you have an uneducated or desperate voter base, they are less likely to hold these politicians accountable in the long run. Take the high-speed rail, for example. Newsome told us Californians that we could look forward to riding a 2-hour bullet train from SF to LA. Sounded amazing at the time, but it’s been a disaster & complete waste of our tax money. Where are the protests? The calls for action? There are none, because many of us are more concerned about our jobs, health, and family right now.

I liken it to buying a Lotto ticket. The reality is that you’re wasting money on a dream, yet that 1-in-40-million chance sells A LOT of tickets daily. If our fellow citizens were actually flourishing, they would spend less time worrying about basic needs (or dreaming of something better) and more time on what the leaders of our state are actually doing to further improve our lives.

Led October 29, 2020 - 9:43 AM - 9:43 AM

I think the political dynamics here are rather complex. Yes, it looks good for a politician when people are happy and prosperous. But also it looks bad for a politician if they are going to be held responsible for every bump in the Covid numbers upon reopening stuff. This is an underrated downside of ‘lockdowns’ – once you have one, the political incentives are against relaxing it, because any increase in cases is “owned” by the politician who reopens. (Which is crazy, btw.) Also, crises are opportunities for politicians, and Newsom has spoken rather openly about wanting to come out of this pandemic with a more ‘progressive’ California as a result. Right now Newsom can just make things happen with the stroke of a pen, even more than usual. That’s not something an ambitious politician is going to give up casually.

Mitch October 29, 2020 - 10:36 AM - 10:36 AM

Fear, control, and power.

Downtown WC Rez October 28, 2020 - 10:32 PM - 10:32 PM

I should add to that: when the voter base doesn’t demand accountability, politicians gain more power and money. The populace isn’t asking, “where/to whom have our funds been allocated? Why did this company/person get the contract over other bids?” All we want right now are safe openings of schools and businesses, fewer homeless, and reliable electricity. The politicians continue to get paid for providing NONE of this, and in turn, they line the pockets of their families and friends, increasing the void between the super-rich and middle class.

Cyn October 29, 2020 - 9:37 AM - 9:37 AM

@Downtown
Good post.
