The numbers on the Coco health website are different, 6 cases/100,000 and 3.6% positivity rate. Maybe there is hope that we move to substantial tomorrow?…maybe I am just dreaming.

Unfortunately, I think it will more than likely be in the next week or two. The blue numbers in the chart/map above are the state averages that are updated weekly. If you hover over CoCo on the map, it will give you case rate and positivity rate also updated weekly. CoCo was at 7.1/100k and 4.7 positivity last week. We were over the case rate last week. Counties have to be at 7 or below on the case rate and we just missed it. We have been under the positivity rate for substantial, but are penalized for the case rate and are stuck in the higher tier.

Marin Co. was given an exception to move forward to the Red tier 2 weeks ago.

We should have applied too, but our supervisors in Contra Costa County could care less about opening schools or businesses.

Emailed all of them asking why we didn’t also file for the exception, not a single reply.

Throw all local incumbents out November 3rd, or at the first chance thereafter! Weasels, all of them!

I agree with you LR. The only thing I can think of is that the state’s numbers aren’t updated as often as CCC’s website. It would seem that our numbers warrant the next tier level. Not sure how much long people will be willing to sit back. I’m starting to see Recall Newsom posters everywhere. Maybe the movement is bigger than I realized.

For those who keep yelling OPEN THINGS UP.

What are dying to do that isn’t opened up?

parent September 21, 2020 - 4:41 PM - 4:41 PM

Lets see …

open my business so I can put food on my table, says the
… nail esthetician.
… movie theaters.
… most small businesses.

If you think these places can stay afloat legally while only letting in 10-20-25% of their target population then you are gravely mistaken.

You may be an expert on the word COVID, but not an expert on the impact if you are seriously asking this question.

How about kids sports (both rec and competitive)
Schools
Bowling Alleys
Indoor dining
Gyms
This is just to name a few.

I’m retired, so I don’t have a business to lose, and have sufficient income. It’s the people who are losing their businesses, and their employees who are now out of work. It’s kids who can’t go to school, people who want to worship in church, and fellowship with other members. So many businesses that were forced to close will never open up again. There is a lot of collateral damage to the lengthy shutdown.

Me, personally, I need to go to the gym. I can do some exercising at home, but I need the weights and machines to keep osteoporosis at bay and to help with arthritis pain. Working out at home with what I have just isn’t sufficient.

Indoor dining. So tired of eating cold takeout or shooing away flies while outdoor dining. And yes, I do cook at home too, but it’s nice to go out once in a while

@Covid Expert

You might have a job that pays decent, but you’re being quite ridiculous.
There are TONS of people who are unemployed, struggling to pay bills, struggling to pay rent, buy food, etc.
There are a lot of small business owners in CA who cannot afford to keep their business closed anymore.
Are they just supposed to lose their business that they’ve worked their a** off for?!

Why can’t Newsom at least partially open up businesses (i.e. indoor dining, gyms, hair salons, etc.)
He won’t even open up partially!!
That just shows he doesn’t give a rat’s a** about the citizens of CA.
He cares only about himself while he and his family sit in the governor’s mansion getting haircuts and eating gourmet food.

Try thinking about the people struggling mentally too.
Suicides and self harm have sky rocketed and the mental health of everyone is on the line.

If you’re afraid to leave the house, then by all means, stay inside, and put your mask on.
This is America.

Churches – being “allowed” to have an outdoor service in scorching heat or smothering smoke is not open. The same goes for any other business where being outdoors is considered open.

partially open businesses? hmmm, like the winery he runs?

@mike – we are in the sixth month of the California-wide lockdown. The numbers are far worse today than when we started. Lockdowns, at least by themselves, are not making the virus go away nor are they lowering the numbers. Based on what’s happened in counties and states that either eliminated or never had lockdowns at this point it’s not clear that a lockdown has any affect on the virus. Both locked down and non-lockdown regions have their ups and downs.
