To the greatest nation on the face of the earth, Happy Birthday!

DanManMtn July 4, 2020 at 9:26 AM

Happy Fourth, everyone! I assume if you come here you care about what happens in this county. We may not agree on how to make things better, but I thank you for caring! Be safe and be well!

Susan July 4, 2020 at 9:32 AM

Happy 4th of July everyone! Be safe and enjoy.

Happy Day, everyone!
Evidently, our neighborhood has people from all our nationโ€™s time zones scattered around because there were various sorts of โ€œboomsโ€ as each zone hit midnight ushering in 4th of July.
Wait for it….wait for it….. ahhhh, THEREโ€™s the Hawaiian checking in! Can go on to sleep now

Let’s see: ribs, baked beans, cole slaw, corn on the cobb, garlic bread, beer, Martini, apple pie. Just my wife and me ….

Anyone see the vintage planes flying over in formation this morning? I don’t know if it was publicized or not. By time I heard them and grabbed my camera, they were too far gone to make them out.. Anyway… It was a neat sound and sight.

Loved seeing the old cars driving down Concord Blvd. with flags and tooting their horns! Made my morning.

The Wizard July 5, 2020 at 12:49 PM

Love that Model A horn. One drove by my house with 2 American flags flying….Happy Independence Day, God Bless America and Trump 2020.

Dawg July 4, 2020 at 1:02 PM

Loved the flyovers before the Presidents speech last evening, and the fireworks afterwards at Mt. Rushmore.
Happy Independence Day!

Happy Birthday, America!

I do miss the parades. My first 4th of July parade was also Concord’s first parade in almost a century, in 1991. Then, for most of the Nineties, I was with Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, or Boy Scouts in either Concord or Clayton. Those are very good memories.

Cowellian Concords parade will be televised at 5 today. Not sure if it will be on Concord website/facebook, I know it’s on local channels.

oh darn! July 4, 2020 at 2:57 PM

Happy 4th! However it still makes me very sad that they don’t have The Singing Flag!! It was such a fabulous way to celebrate Independence Day! Great for both adults and kids! I know that if it was still available, they’d have to cancel it this year, but the memories are still so wonderful!

The Wizard July 5, 2020 at 12:44 PM

I miss that too.

Concord mom July 4, 2020 at 3:33 PM

All Holidays matter. Merry Labor Easter ๐ŸŒฒ ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿฐ

Susan July 4, 2020 at 6:16 PM

Concord mom what a ignorant and unkind post. If you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem.

Sam July 5, 2020 at 12:06 AM

Iโ€™m part of the problem. Susan you sound like a washed out warrior, get a real job, all holidays matter. Youโ€™re not wrong concord mom. Some people think they are too important

S July 5, 2020 at 9:10 AM

Well, I don’t know Sam???
CM left out Thanksgiving, Halloween, Hanukkah, and April Fool’s Day.

Susan July 5, 2020 at 10:53 AM

Sam I’m glad you’re able to admit that. S if that’s what was meant ok. How do you know anything about me, you don’t. I’m just trying to stay away from negativity, ignorance, people who have nothing better to be but bottom feeders who spread hate and negativity. Time to grow up and post responsibly. Wear a mask sammy.

Sam July 5, 2020 at 11:24 AM

I will for Halloween.

Sam July 5, 2020 at 11:39 AM

Furthermore we all know what you were doing, but thanks for clarifying my original response was accurate. You are calling out โ€œhate and negativityโ€ where there is none. That by definition is spreading hate and negativity. Thatโ€™s why you cowered on your original position when called out. And true to form you ended with an attack. Have a nice day

The Wizard July 5, 2020 at 12:42 PM

Susan…Time to fire up a big fat one and chill out.

Kirkwood July 4, 2020 at 8:53 PM

The Headline for this thread refers to this day as “Independence Day”, the true name of the holiday. The TV has been on all day and the term “Fourth Of July” was heard many times in different contexts. Not once did I hear the term “Independence Day”.

Thank you Mayor.
