Looks like the numbers are relatively the same, yeah? People get tested people pop hot yet most recovered and there’s no hospitals overwhelmed with patients. So what’s up with these riots? Are any of them actually happening here in Contra Costa? Or just actual peaceful protest?

The term “recovered” is deceptive. Know of someone who had their leg amputated because of blood clots caused by COVID. Not a death and released from the hospital….. but “recovered”????

We are going to see the cases increase due to the new order by the state for residents and employers at the home care.

Okay now enough of the new cases let take our mind off of it.

Co co county is one of the only counties in CA that won’t release where the clusters are coming from ( ex Richmond ) do we not have any tracers or are they hiding something?

Bases on the news coverage of the riots nationwide I’m seeing; shelter in place is over whether or not the Health Department recognizes that reality or not.

It’s herd immunity now. No pun intended, but Covid-19 is out of the barn and so far down the road it can’t see the ranch it came from.

I have updated https://imgur.com/a/RSQK6hP which is the graph of active cases.

The solid blue line is the estimate of the number of active cases.* The dotted blue line is the 7-day rolling average of the active cases. The solid red line is the number of tests and the dotted red line is the 7-day rolling average. The scale for the blue line is on the left and the red lines scale is on the right.

* The number of active cases is an estimate and is the number of new cases of COVID-19 in the last 14 days plus older cases still in the hospital minus those that have died. As a result, the number of active cases lags behind changes introduced due to changes in the number of tests. I expect the number of active cases will soon drop as testing has dropped from a peak of 1137 tests per day on 5/25/2020 to 783 tests per day as of 5/30/2020. This is not evidence that COVID-19 is going away but rather than testing for COVID-19 has decreased. Ideally, the testing would be at a consistent level and consistently be surveillance testing of asymptomatic persons to more accurately show if the incidence of COVID-19 is increasing or decreasing in response to changes in shelter-in-place and other protocols.

Can’t wait to see the numbers go up around the U.S. with all these riots. Notice how the folks partying at the Lake of the Ozarks got crap for not wearing masks but no one is saying crap about how the majority of protesters aren’t wearing masks. Hopefully hospitals are more prepared now then back in March for an influx of sick people.

Can we get a ballot proposal for CCC to disown Richmond?

Imagine the savings

Here is the distribution of new cases by age from 5/23/2020 through 5/30/2020.

Age 20 or under increased by 24 cases which is 18.8% of the total increase.
Age 21 to 30 increased by 22 cases which is 17.2% of the total increase.
Age 31 to 40 increased by 19 cases which is 14.8% of the total increase.
Age 41 to 50 increased by 28 cases which is 21.9% of the total increase.
Age 51 to 60 increased by 12 cases which is 9.4% of the total increase.
Age 61 to 70 increased by 13 cases which is 10.2% of the total increase.
Age 71 to 80 increased by 7 cases which is 5.5% of the total increase.
Age 81 to 90 increased by 4 cases which is 3.1% of the total increase.
Age Over 90 decreased by 1 case which is -0.8% of the total increase.
The total increased by 128 cases. There were no deaths.

The county did not explain the age over 90 decrease. I’m guessing someone’s age was corrected. We went 8 days at 29 cases in that age group and are now 5 days so far at 28 cases.

Previously, the age 61-70, 71-80, and 81-90 groups had seen very little increase. The increase in the older groups is a steady climb throughout the week and not a one or two day surge I would expect to see if there was an outbreak in an assisted living or nursing home facility. Thus, I’m assuming it’s community transmission.

Maybe the older folks got tired of the extreme shelter-in-place that previously had resolved in very few cases? I know I have relaxed my personal protocols a little but much of that was driven by (hopefully) better understanding of how the virus is transmitted from one person to another.

WCreaker May 31, 2020 - 4:56 PM - 4:56 PM

Perhaps the increase in the older ages is just from them getting tested now with Countywide availability…..up to recently you had to get a referral from your doctor….

Concord lifer June 1, 2020 - 3:27 PM - 3:27 PM

Is there a means of determining the number of cases by age and ethnicity by each city. I was surprised to see the high number for Orinda, but remembered the Assisted Living facility had a high number of cases. Just curious to see if we can try to help the specific areas/neighborhoods where there are more cases; so more businesses can partially open.

Kauai Mike May 31, 2020 - 4:09 PM - 4:09 PM

as of 05/31:

1,450 confirmed cases (CCC) with 37 deaths = 2.55% death rate.
