If they are doing contact tracing than we should know what they are finding. They don’t have to give names just circumstances.

Open the water park. No virus can survive the chlorine and sunshine. Plus I need to absorb some vitiman D while I work on my tan. And I want to show off my new haircut.

It’s the same five locations in Contra Costa racking up the majority of the new cases. 68% today. The same locations account for 46% of the overall total in Contra Costa County. What is the CCHD doing about mitigation? Not much.

Big family, small refrigerator… once a week shopping was never an option so I would say I’ve been following my normal routine as I was never one to enjoy spending money on non essentials anyway, As time has progressed I have noticed busier stores and more traffic so I am guessing lockdown is ending whether the government wants it or not.

Biggest inconvenience for me has been the closed zoos and museums and closed access to kids activities. I have a daughter that has a movement disorder and swimming is one of the few activities she feels physical comfort in engaging with. My heart is broken into a million pieces for her. Another inconvenience? All my “quiet” spots to take my kids to have a good romp and get fresh air have been overtaken with people I have never seen before who act like they own these open spaces…and have little tolerance for friendly kids.

Totally different coming home from work, freeway was packed, walmart lot was dang near full, saw fresh yard sale signs and surface streets weren’t bumper to bumper but there was allot of traffic.

Once over the hill can smell BBQs in use and a few houses with pools have extra vehicles around them.
Lookin’ like SIP is on it’s last legs.

Chicken Little May 9, 2020 - 4:54 PM - 4:54 PM

My neighbors are having a SIP (Shelter In Pool? Swimming In Place?) party right now. Cars all down the street. Looks like they’ve had enough of being locked down, just like most people I know.

@Courious
We only go to grocery store every other week, that’s it. We walk in our neighborhood and keep distance. Spouse and I both have some medical concerns so we are careful (cancer me, lupus her)

I watch several neighbors, mostly the 30-40 crowd with kids, doing what they always do- play dates for kids, bq’s with other families, group bike rides… guess they aren’t worried..

I do. I’m not going to name any stores, Good for them for staying open.
Too bad about one store that has swallowed the Flavor-aid even worse as they are only allowing 40 people at a time in the store. Then you’ve got people getting huffy as you reach your arm too close to them to grab something off of a store shelf…….how about don’t stand at the same spot blocking the product for ten minutes, I don’t have time for that – Get a move on it!

I agree. Some guy stood there blocking the aisle like he was a tourist on a sightseeing expedition.

Mr. Musk is threatening to move Tesla production and headquarters to Texas/Nevada. You could argue he is one of the biggest influencers of global commerce.

California can’t afford to lose him in the middle of a $54 Billion deficit. Hopefully he will take our Governors call.

WC Resident May 9, 2020 - 4:29 PM - 4:29 PM

There is something strange with the number of deaths being reported by the county. The total for yesterday report was 29 deaths. Two more were added for today’s report but the total is now 32?

Even the county’s graph’s show the weirdness
New deaths by day shows one on .5/4 and then two more on 5/8.
Total deaths by day shows that on 5/4 the total went from 28 to 29. It remained at 29 until 5/7. On 5/8 it went up by 2 to 32?

Either the total should be 31 or the number of deaths for 5/8 should be 3.

The number in hospital increased from 16 to 20. If two people died then that’s at least six additional patients. If three died then it’s at least seven additional patients.

Chicken Little May 9, 2020 - 4:57 PM - 4:57 PM

I come and go as needed, including going to work every day, just as I have been throughout the lockdown.

frenchdawg May 9, 2020 - 8:52 PM - 8:52 PM

I wonder how many people recover every day ?

Newsom is using his “science” to impose a political agenda. The Covid death rate per Stanford for ages 1-45 is 0.014%. Newsom is using the total death rate to punish everyone unnecessarily. And his politcal opponents.

We used to do “chicken pox parties” – remember? Get the kids exposed and through another virus for life. The REAL science here is R: the transmission rate. We need to get everyone else exposed while managing the curve and while keeping our elderly and immunocompromised quarantined, and regularly test those who interact with them. Get the overall infection rate to 55-60%, the R of 2.3-2.5 people infected per person becomes irrelevant, and we return to normal. Permanently.

We didn’t have the testing, the PPE, and an understanding of where we are in March. We do now. It is time to lead Newsom – not hide.

We will have far more people die from suicide, drugs, alcohol, and homelessness than Covid due to the purposeful destruction of our economy. Get the big picture Newsom. Use real math. And stop playing politics.

A whole “THREE????” … OH MY … THE HUMANITY!

Can we please end this fing charade and arrest the idiots who are behind it all?

For cryin’ out loud already.

JoJo The Circus Clown May 10, 2020 - 5:26 AM - 5:26 AM

Btw … condolences (to the departed)

Kauai Mike May 10, 2020 - 6:49 AM - 6:49 AM

as of 05/09:

1,036 confirmed cases (CCC) with 32 deaths = 3.08% death rate.

Mitch May 10, 2020 - 10:10 AM - 10:10 AM

No deaths of people under 51, average age can’t be calculated specifically, but looks to be about 75, pretty close to US life expectancy.

Let alone the fact that the confirmed cases is drastically off by a factor of 10x minimum.

Jojo May 10, 2020 - 10:03 PM - 10:03 PM

People have more cases of common A and B flu every year and some die. All cases and deaths from flu outnumber covid19 every year and not once have there been any shutdowns or people been ordered to not leave your home. “Tyranny is when the people are afraid of the government, when the government are afraid of the people it’s called liberty.” Thomas Jefferson.
