The Contra Costa County coroner’s office on Thursday confirmed the identity of an Oakland man who died in a vehicle crash in Clayton on Tuesday.

Lamarcus Smith, 23, was the passenger in a vehicle that crashed into an unoccupied and parked work truck in the 5400 block of Clayton Road.

Officers responded at 9:36 a.m. and pronounced Smith dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, who Clayton police identified as 25-year-old Antioch resident Myishia Turner, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. After being released, she was arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter, according to police.

Ever notice the drunk people survive accidents involving DUI’s while the sober people die? While I do not know if Lamarcus was sober or not, I often read about a drunk killing.others in vehicular accidents, while the drunk survives. I sometimes contemplate if being drunk and not realizing you’re about to be involved in an accident leaves the body limp and relaxed (and thus you survive) while the sober person tenses-up as they’re about to wreck (and the force of the impact breaks bones due to tensing-up that ruptures organs?) and die. Secondarily, does this mean that if you detect that you’re about to be involved in a head-on collision that the best thing to do is “go limp, like a drunk”? Any LEO’s out there care to weigh in? Is it best to go limp if you’re about to wreck due to no fault of your own?

reminds me of the girl who left clayton drunk in the middle of the day drives drunk and hits a motorcyclist in the opposite lane on clayton rd. almost killing him. of course she lives while the biker suffers life threatning injuries. sick people.

I would guess Lamarcus was tired from last nights partying, was reclining and taking a nap thinking everything was ok,and Miyshia decided to doze off too,and the car did the only thing it could do.
Lamarcus never woke up.

On the road drunk on a Tuesday morning at 9:30 AM during a nationwide shelter-in-place order. That’s real dedication. Some people don’t let anything stand in the way of their partying.

When I adopted “Anonymous” around 2011 or 2012, no one was using it. Granted, I have not posted a lot here.

5400 block of Clayton road is right at the shopping center intersection. How do you crash into a park car at that intersection?

I was eating breakfast In the parking lot across the street when it happened it was a what looks like a PG&E truck you know with those side stabilizers but it wasn’t a PG&E truck it was some kind of tree trimming company or something and believe me this truck was a lot heavier than that Lincoln was and of course it’s always the drunks that live got a video of it on my YouTube channel

When I drove by, there was a work truck parked on the side of Clayton Road with red cones around it exactly in front of the liquor store/Shell Gas station. The work truck that was hit was down a little further in front of Travis CU, again with red cones around it. I believe the workers were actually working between the two trucks which is why they were not hurt.
