Contra Costa is now reporting 86 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the county, which is 15 more since yesterday.
One person (a Contra Costa man in his 70s with underlying health conditions who recently traveled outside the country) has died from the coronavirus in the county, according to the health department.

How many people have recovered?
I don’t know about Contra Costa County specifically but last numbers I saw were about 50% world wide have already recovered. This was off of a CNN article, if I recall correctly.
Your question is SUPER IMPORTANT to understand. Do we have 86 cases current today, or is it 86 people contracted it, but we are currently only treating x. I would like to also know, demographics of those infected and to what severity.

@Dawg – It’s possible at least three of the active COVID-19 cases in this county are not Contra Costa residents. East Bay Times from March 8th includes “In addition to the nine confirmed cases in Contra Costa County, three people were transferred to Contra Costa County from an out-of-county location to receive care.”
March 8th seems like eons ago and it’s possible a lot has changed since then.

Curious how many have tested negative.
I am not sure that it makes a difference how many test negative when the majority of presumptive cases are not being tested at all as there are only about 15,000 test kits available for California as of this morning.
In my extended circle I know of 7 with presumptive cases, two have been tested and confirmed as they met criteria for testing, and the rest have not been tested as they do not meet the testing criteria.
The numbers are likely much higher and will continue to grow since the testing is not widely available.
Current criteria for testing:
Patients who are most vulnerable to severe disease and patients who may expose vulnerable people
should have highest priority for COVID-19 testing. COVID-19 testing for symptomatic members of these
groups should be sent to the Contra Costa Public Health Lab (CCPHL) for expedited testing:
1. Persons who LIVE or WORK in CONGREGATE FACILITIES:
• Skilled nursing, board and care, assisted living and other congregate senior living facilities
• Shelters, group homes, residential treatment programs
• Jails
2. HOMELESS PERSONS regardless of current status of shelter
3. HEALTH CARE WORKERS and FIRST RESPONDERS
4. Persons who receive DIALYSIS or CHEMOTHERAPY in clinic settings
5. Persons who are HOSPITALIZED

Contra Costa county should let us know what city these cases are in. I don’t need to know the hospital they are in ( if they are in hospital) but it would be nice to see the data by city …

So one in 22.45 people die from an illness thats just in its infancy.
I’d say that’s alarming.

Just ask NYC that has 5,000 cases, with people lining up around the block at 8am trying to get into a hospital to see a doctor.

I have a job at an “essential business” and my coworker came down with a severe case of respiratory congestion, aches, fatigue, coughing, voice loss, etc. It’s all in the lungs, making it extremely difficult to breathe, and has wiped this person out. Person’s doctor did appointment over the phone and decided that since no fever yet, that they can’t get tested for COVID-19, ALTHOUGH, the doctor will be treating them as a pneumonia case. From what I’ve read, not everyone gets ALL the symptoms so they could very well have it, but we won’t know unless a fever prompts the doctor to test them. I know we don’t have a test for everyone, but I feel this case is justified for a test! Our type of work makes us work in very close proximity, many people handling the same equipment, and people huffing and puffing around each other for prolonged periods of time. We should be able to know what we were working with before this person went home sick!
In Korea they have opened up a text system that government sends out if there is anyone with. In a certain mile radius who has a confirmed case. In America we have no such disclosures.
In China they have no new confirmed cases because everyone has followed orders to stay in side. Thank you america at least you all tried. I suppose.

CoCo County has averaged an increase in confirmed cases of 17% per day over the last week. At that same rate of infection there will be 84306 cases by Cinco de Mayo.
Remember folks this is not the Flu this is a new strain of noro virus that is vicious and even if you survive your lung capacity can be dramatically reduced. Please wash your hands often be careful what you touch. We can stop this if we all stayed in side!!! If we do not do this soon then this will forever be a virus that will be in our country. Now is the time our cities should be doing massive sanitation efforts like they did in Wuhan. There are no new confirmed cases out of china. It has not spread to Russia because they followed stay in orders. Maybe it not important who or where someone has it. Just Please stay in and encourage everyone you know to stay in please for just a few weeks. Otherwise our past way of living is gone and sadly this all becomes the new norm. Im considering getting ply board for the windows to just have ready to drill up if this country gets out of control. Does anyone personally know a victim of V19? And what about crime has crime gone down or up?

In the past I have had my own business, and for years sold Long Term Care Insurance and annuities and was quite successful at it. To try to insult me, but as usual you are just making things up, and have no idea about me or my life.
