Rep. Mark DeSaulnier, D-Concord, was recently admitted to the hospital with complications from pneumonia and remains in serious but stable condition, his office announced Monday.

According to DeSaulnier’s chief of staff Betsy Arnold Marr, he developed the illness after suffering a fractured rib when he fell while running. DeSaulnier was admitted to the hospital Friday and is expected to remain there for at least the next several days.

“The office operations remain unchanged and staff will continue to serve our constituents,” Arnold Marr said. “We are grateful for your thoughts and well wishes during this time.”

DeSaulnier’s office plans to continue providing updates about his condition as they become available.

I’d bet he was trying to chew gum while he was running.

Please! Just stop the nasty comments. Tell me! What is gained by saying that?

james March 17, 2020 - 3:46 PM - 3:46 PM

popcorn what is gained by constantly talking bad about your president? It makes the country look weak to other countries that look for an opportunity to take revenge. You are a hypocrite with a capital WC.

Wishing Rep D a speedy recovery. Don’t care for his politics much, but seems like a decent enough guy. Get well soon!

Kirkwood March 16, 2020 - 1:13 PM - 1:13 PM

I second that.

The is a difference between being critical of the President, any president of that matter, and his politics and having nasty comments when someone is ill or had an accident. I notice when Rush said he was diagnosed with lung cancer how many posted on Yahoo they couldn’t stand his politics or show, but wished him well in regards to his illness, I was one of them. Having said that I know there also was many liberals that wished for him to die as soon as possible. Left or right or the middle, watch out for karma.

Whatever March 16, 2020 - 12:51 PM - 12:51 PM

I don’t care for his politics AT ALL, but I don’t wish harm on anybody. Best wishes

Those broken ribs hurt like mad.

ConcordRes2 March 16, 2020 - 1:26 PM - 1:26 PM

Sounds like he may have the virus and is trying to hide it. Coughing can also break a rib.

Ilovepopcorn March 16, 2020 - 9:47 PM - 9:47 PM

This type of comment is very destructive and dangerous. Stop starting rumors. I hate this example of ignorance.

Dawg March 16, 2020 - 1:30 PM - 1:30 PM

I don’t like him, but I certainly don’t wish him any harm. Hope he recovers soon.
Get your pneumonia shot, it’s even more important now since the COVIC-19 can lead to pneumonia.

Hoping for a quick recovery for Mark. Take it easy and surrender to Netflix when you’re resting at home

Original G March 16, 2020 - 1:44 PM - 1:44 PM

Hope he recovers, perhaps these events and previous health disclosures might be considered a sign to contemplate retirement.

Mike M March 16, 2020 - 2:40 PM - 2:40 PM

I hope Mr. DeSaulnier feels better soon. As a former runner, I know how itchy people can get when they’re unable to get their miles in.

Wishing you full and speedy recovery!

I believe we are lucky to have such a fine representative in Washington to watch our backs. Fortunately, the voters in our district agree as he wins elections. Get well quickly and make plans for November.

Ilovepopcorn March 16, 2020 - 7:27 PM - 7:27 PM

Oh my!! I pray for Mark’s speedy recovery. Kind of a terrible time to have health issues. Bless you Mark.

Joatmeal March 16, 2020 - 9:22 PM - 9:22 PM

Don’t read anything partisan or political into this, but I completely agree.

Susan I. March 16, 2020 - 10:02 PM - 10:02 PM

Speedy recovery to you Congressman. I worked on your first campaign and have been a supporter ever since. Thank you for all you do to make our lives better. Much gratitude 🙏

American Citizen March 16, 2020 - 10:29 PM - 10:29 PM

This is just karma. After he has all his stupid town hall meetings about alleged gun violence and plotting to eliminate all of our constitutional rights and raise all our taxes. Also promoting the homeless population so that it continues to grow bigger and bigger at the cost of the taxpayers.

This liberal politician hates America and it shows.

Susan I. March 16, 2020 - 11:53 PM - 11:53 PM

And thank you for showing us how truly classless you really are. So happy you are the outlier on this thread. As much as I dislike trump I’d never wish him ill-will. Go crawl back under your rock.

Ilovepopcorn March 17, 2020 - 3:03 AM - 3:03 AM

Ugh! How hateful can you be? Yes, go back in your dark little world.
Shame on you.

I don’t like his politics and I think he is worthless as a representative. However, that said, thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

ConcordMike March 19, 2020 - 11:09 PM - 11:09 PM

Any updates to Mark’s status? I know HIPPA may play a part here, but he is a public official.
