California Lawmaker Introduces Bill To Add Third Gender Option For Passports

by CLAYCORD.com

Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Santa Clara, introduced a bill Tuesday to direct the U.S. State Department to add a third gender option to U.S. passports for applicants who do not identify as male or female.

The third option, “unspecified,” would be available for U.S. passports, passport cards and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad and would not require applicants to present proof of their gender identity via signed
affidavit from their doctor.

The bill would also allow applicants to forego identifying their gender as not male or female on their passport if they feel it would be a detriment to their safety when traveling.

Nearly a dozen countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Germany, India and New Zealand, already offer the option of more than two gender options on their passport applications.

Why don’t we just add switch hitter that way everyone can keep changing their gender depending on what day of the week it is.

Sorry very old school and this is beyond the accommodations that the world should have to make for a chosen few.

Aunt Barbara February 26, 2020 - 11:51 AM - 11:51 AM

It’s all becoming very clearthat people are doing too many drugs and not in their right minds..
Look in the mirror after your shower and you will see your gender. Male or Female. The only other one is Lunatic..

Kentucky Derby February 26, 2020 - 10:13 AM - 10:13 AM

Is this really necessary? “Unspecified” gender is absurd. I guess there are other countries that are more “out there” than CA.

Sick of it February 26, 2020 - 10:21 AM - 10:21 AM

This is getting ridiculous. Wake up there are are only two genders no matter what you want to call yourself. I swear this is becoming a mental issue for these politicians that keep pushing this crap. We need to vote out all of these democrats that keep pushing this stuff instead of working on real problems

double dzzz February 26, 2020 - 12:58 PM - 12:58 PM

Damm straight you and aunt Barbara are right about this. these people making these rules have definite mental issues. I really don’t know how they get into office to begin with ? they are hypocrites themselves when it comes to most of these laws and issues.

Cellophane February 26, 2020 - 10:22 AM - 10:22 AM

Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Santa Clara IQ is unspecified.

There are two genders.

There are no others.

People need to vote for more intelligent Representatives.

In fifty years there will be a dozen options. As dumb as it sounds I guess in the long run should we really care?

Bill Cutting February 26, 2020 - 10:46 AM - 10:46 AM

Madness. This is demonic stuff being nurtured by demonic politicians. You can’t change your chromosomes

RANDOM TASK February 26, 2020 - 11:12 AM - 11:12 AM

ok so when does the classification just stop

how about that no classification at all ….not needed anymore

then what will the want to be seen but unseen self absorbed do

when their antics are passé

no more gender games

no classifications at all will stop the tirade of the pouters and moaners from having to clash with anything and every thing because they can and impress their friends

you don’t need to anti gender to show your different duh

its like claiming your religion is better than someone else

pass that bill slackers …..there will be no classification …no lbqwerty…no waterbottle or snowflake or killjoy…

nothing but human …lol imagine that …oh wait ….can see it now ….

WERE NOT HUMAN chants from any and all special interest groups or designations ….well oh well ….seems like a pit of despair for the gender games …

so lets just spend more money catering to the self absorbed

Killjoy February 27, 2020 - 10:08 AM - 10:08 AM

Excuse me? What did you say?

Same February 26, 2020 - 11:16 AM - 11:16 AM

Evidently polygamists are using same sex marriage logic to argue for legalized polyamory. Fascinating turn of events.

gittyup February 26, 2020 - 6:48 PM - 6:48 PM

Call it what it is, polypromiscuity!

BOOYAH! February 26, 2020 - 11:27 AM - 11:27 AM

So glad to see we’re following Bangladesh’s lead.

Nope February 26, 2020 - 11:38 AM - 11:38 AM

Sigh. I’m getting too old for this world.

bdml February 26, 2020 - 11:48 AM - 11:48 AM

I thought there were only 2 genders, male and female…pandering to the .0000001% of the population should garner the votes required?

Nutcreek Frontier February 26, 2020 - 12:19 PM - 12:19 PM

at bdml, exactly! And don’t get me started on gender-neutral bathrooms, inconveniencing 99.99% of us. Does anyone really like this? Always feel so sorry for the older people forced to stand in looong lines for the gender-neutral toilet. I always think at some point, citizens in California are going to ask, why did we do do this again?

PESFG February 26, 2020 - 5:54 PM - 5:54 PM

PESFG @NutcreekFrontier. Gender neutral bathrooms were invented to save money on the cost of urinals and in the overall cost of space and building it.

gittyup February 26, 2020 - 6:46 PM - 6:46 PM

I’m so appalled by gender neutral restrooms. I had to use one the other day and somebody left the seat up. Disgusting! Beam me up Scotty!

Killjoy February 27, 2020 - 10:10 AM - 10:10 AM

@gittyup. It’s a toilet seat. It’s really pretty simple to operate. Try it some time. You might find that it’s easy enough that even YOU can do it.

Gittyup February 27, 2020 - 10:54 PM - 10:54 PM

Oh, I know how to operate it! I just don’t think I should have to!

Chet February 26, 2020 - 11:56 AM - 11:56 AM

How common is hermaphrodite?
Here’s what we do know: If you ask experts at medical centers how often a child is born so noticeably atypical in terms of genitalia that a specialist in sex differentiation is called in, the number comes out to about 1 in 1500 to 1 in 2000 births.

Googlar February 26, 2020 - 12:01 PM - 12:01 PM

This society won’t last 3 generations.

Lk February 26, 2020 - 12:08 PM - 12:08 PM

Wow, so many closed minded people. Sounds like no one (cares to) understands LGBTQ. The world is not black and white. And ‘Chet’ it had nothing to do with gentitalia.

MikeyV February 26, 2020 - 12:28 PM - 12:28 PM

It is black and white, on your birth certificate.

That is the sex that goes on your passport, the highest form of ID that normal people get.

It’s simple.

Sick of it February 26, 2020 - 12:34 PM - 12:34 PM

We are tired of having this crap shoved down our throats. It’s not a matter not understanding. It’s a fact of biology that there are only 2 sex’s male and female. Any other than that is made up in some ones own head. No genetic test in the world will ever say anything different.
Male or female

Rico February 26, 2020 - 7:53 PM - 7:53 PM

There’s what somebody feels, and then there’s biology/anatomy. Except for the rare hermaphrodite and Turner’s Syndrome (XY) woman, both conditions being considered birth defects due to abnormal hormone levels in the womb, we have male and female genders. Just as sexual preference doesn’t change gender, wishing to be something else doesn’t make it so.

Allowing “other” for safety reasons in other less tolerant countries makes no sense to me, as the presence of the gender “other” on a passport will immediately trigger concerns or bias in those countries.

TLC February 27, 2020 - 6:17 AM - 6:17 AM

To Rico. Please do look up Turner Syndrome, it is a chromosomal disorder. In a case like mine, the second X is either actually missing (XO) or the second X is “broken”.

Jojo Potato February 26, 2020 - 12:16 PM - 12:16 PM

You are all making a big deal out of nothing. The main reasons I can see for forcing people to be male or female are: identifying bodies in a disaster, selling different style clothes, and, well nothing. Many cultures have had “intermediate” sexes. So let people be whatever they want. Worry about something important like the huge deficit that the current government is building up.

Sick of it February 26, 2020 - 12:36 PM - 12:36 PM

In a wreck a DNA test of the remains will still only read Male or Female Not some made up sex identity.

PO'd February 26, 2020 - 12:48 PM - 12:48 PM

Would you enlighten us as to which culture(s) has more than 2 genders? California doesn’t count.

Jojo Potato February 26, 2020 - 1:08 PM - 1:08 PM

Since you asked, and I looked it up on Wikipedia here’s the list:

Argentina
Austria
Australia
Canada
Germany

I’m not really that happy about looking up answers for people who can do it themselves. You do the rest your self.

Fred P. February 28, 2020 - 8:30 AM - 8:30 AM

Male and female – XX or XY.

Period. Facts are facts.

Show me the chromosomes that identify someone as anything other. I don’t care how you “feel”.

Rollo Tomasi February 28, 2020 - 10:49 AM - 10:49 AM

Science deniers across the globe.

Rollo Tomasi February 28, 2020 - 11:00 AM - 11:00 AM

I wonder if Rachel Dolezal still identifies as African American? There was quite a hullabaloo when she claimed she was something other than what her genetics made her.

PO'd February 26, 2020 - 12:43 PM - 12:43 PM

There are 2 genders- Male and Female. That’s it. Anything else is BS.

Lily of the Valley February 26, 2020 - 12:55 PM - 12:55 PM

The world has 2 colors: Black or White- Male or Female there is NOT another gender “option”. Politicians need to invest their time and citizen’s money in something more important than this….

Ozzie February 26, 2020 - 12:57 PM - 12:57 PM

I get the safety part after reading a few comments on here.

Kauai Mike February 26, 2020 - 1:27 PM - 1:27 PM

Reflect on the universe – then, visualize traveling outward :::: past the infinite planets & moons, stars, solar systems, galaxies, and black holes.

How significant in all that is the question of how many genders we recognize?

MikeyV February 26, 2020 - 2:11 PM - 2:11 PM

Very significant when creating a government issued passport.

“What significance is gender in the Andromeda Galaxy on Planet Marf-Derp?”

Come back to earth, buddy, let’s stay on topic.

Simonpure February 26, 2020 - 1:34 PM - 1:34 PM

Just lose gender all together. Let the photo speak for itself.

Killjoy February 27, 2020 - 10:13 AM - 10:13 AM

Have you actually SEEN some of these photos? Without a gender it would confuse people even more.

chuckie the troll February 26, 2020 - 1:53 PM - 1:53 PM

Do we even want to know how the TSA checks you for a 3rd Gender?

RTC February 26, 2020 - 3:05 PM - 3:05 PM

Thanks for the chuckle Chuckie.

Walter February 26, 2020 - 2:03 PM - 2:03 PM

Glad to see our elected representatives are working on the important stuff

Kirkwood February 26, 2020 - 3:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Only three?

Original G February 26, 2020 - 3:14 PM - 3:14 PM

D-Santa Clara, speaks volumes.

When two third genders manage to have a child . . . . .

Atticus Thraxx February 26, 2020 - 3:18 PM - 3:18 PM

Seems an odd thing to be strongly against. Or strongly for, for that matter. I mean who really gives a sh*t what people call themselves? Who has time to worry about it?
Thirty nine previous posters apparently. And now forty. Whatever.

Rollo Tomasi February 28, 2020 - 11:04 AM - 11:04 AM

I agree, right up to the point when the law of unintended consequences kicks in.

Did I Say That Out Loud February 26, 2020 - 5:03 PM - 5:03 PM

Dump the singular “gender” which is a convenient label. Today, with make-up, fake breasts and padding for curves, cross dressing and hair of any length and color….”gender” is no longer a solid established factor. Let’s go to DNA, the one thing that no matter what you do, or try to do, you can’t change. Problem solved. On the passport there will be 2 identities – Gender Identity and DNA.

RANDOM TASK February 26, 2020 - 5:17 PM - 5:17 PM

well thraxx

lets look at history for a moment shall we

as well lest we forget the person who put a steaming hot cup of coffee from a drive thru
between their legs and then ….well they sued because they couldn’t hold themselves responsible for spilling it on themselves …doh

now the issue is as we know ….with this will be someone questioning down the line as they visit mexico or Europe or Canada and smirks or asks questions …

then oh my civil rights were violated and create a scene ….

and the one that happens every time in a foreign country by ignorant americans
shouting im an American in a foreign country and expecting the constitution to roll out for them then screaming racism when they don’t get their way ….creating problems where non exist ….

this gives people a out to cry for defamation and millions in restitution
some yayhoo will take it upon themselves to declare they are a tree or piece of paper or even the declaration of independence
and sue for defamation

and we will have to pay for it …..

its coming ….it always does

Atticus Thraxx February 26, 2020 - 5:59 PM - 5:59 PM

Trying to make sense of that made my nose bleed. You could be completely agreeing or vehemently disagreeing, I honestly have no idea. Maybe cut all the letters you need from magazines and paste me a note? 🤪

RTC February 27, 2020 - 10:32 AM - 10:32 AM

I stopped reading his nonsense years ago.

Boycott The Circus February 26, 2020 - 6:09 PM - 6:09 PM

Regardless of what people want to call themselves, bottom line is, is you were still born female or male so you will ALWAYS be one or the other whether you like it or not!

BOB February 26, 2020 - 6:31 PM - 6:31 PM

I’m just glad San Jose does not have any bigger problems.

gittyup February 26, 2020 - 6:38 PM - 6:38 PM

I see all sorts of red flags when the government begins catering to the undecided.

Rico February 26, 2020 - 7:54 PM - 7:54 PM

I’m thinking the Senate won’t pass this, even if the House does.

Foonman February 26, 2020 - 9:27 PM - 9:27 PM

We could call the third gender…. “..Dunno.”

Killjoy February 27, 2020 - 10:16 AM - 10:16 AM

Oh how about “Nunya” for Nun-ya-business?

The Fearless Spectator February 26, 2020 - 10:07 PM - 10:07 PM

“Unspecified”? How about “Undeclared”, or “Confused”, or “Not sure but willing to learn”.

Personally, I don’t care how a person identifies. From a security standpoint, I care very much that they are properly identified, especially if I have to share an airplane with them.

American February 27, 2020 - 11:17 AM - 11:17 AM

Liberal insanity run amuck. Catering to the weirdo leftists who might possibly try this. Confused about your gender? Ask your momma. She’ll set you straight.

Tired February 28, 2020 - 5:57 AM - 5:57 AM

You can thank your politicians for pushing the movement of gender identification. I dont care if you identify as a salamander, a slug, wolf or pig. Stop pushing your beliefs and sexual preferences down my throat. Why not be judged on your character rather than if you have a penis, vagina or both. This world has turned into that movie Idiotocracy. Why are we being judged by the color of our skin, beliefs and sexual orientation. The government has caused this separation of the people to get votes. Being a woman, Im tired of men thinking they are woman. You don’t know the first thing about being a woman. It certainly isn’t dressing up in outlandish clothing, hairstyles and make up for a cabaret. Talk about discrimination of woman.
