I think whoever is providing the cookies since about 10-years ago is shafting the scout org. The cost has risen and quality deteriorated!

I loved the shortbread but it is lousy now! I bought some lemon flavored cookies this past weekend and they are decent but not outstanding.

Was the removal of Trans-Fats that ruined them…. I don’t eat cookies to be healthy; I eat them because they are tasty.

Antler February 18, 2020 - 12:57 PM - 12:57 PM

Agreed!
Nabisco used to make the cookies, and the quality was outstanding. Then at some point, they started slowly rotating the bakeries in a downward quality spiral.
I still buy the sugar ones just to help the Scouts, but then I crush them to make crusts for icebox pie.

Tagalongs- can’t get enough of them.

Cowellian February 18, 2020 - 12:31 PM - 12:31 PM

I like most Girl Scout cookies, but Samoas are my favorite.

Legal Eagle February 18, 2020 - 10:07 PM - 10:07 PM

I happened to see a Daisy Scout today pulling a cookie wagon through the neighborhood. I asked her which ones were her favorite.

Her response: “All of them!”

dbcoop February 18, 2020 - 12:53 PM - 12:53 PM

thin mints and tagalongs

bdml February 18, 2020 - 12:54 PM - 12:54 PM

I used to like the thin mints but they are all really awful quality now.

Stove February 18, 2020 - 1:00 PM - 1:00 PM

Favorites are Thin Mints, then tie between Samoa’s and Tagalongs. But they dont have Samoas and Tagalongs anymore due to racism or PC culture or whatever, and what they replaced them with dont taste the same, so therefore I dont buy as many as I used to, and quality control has gone wayyyyy downhill and seems to get less in each box every year as well as price going up $0.50 every year. This year Ive only had some other people bought, i personally am done buying them.

TeacherMom February 18, 2020 - 1:15 PM - 1:15 PM

Girl Scouts still sell Samoas and Tagalongs.

Stove February 18, 2020 - 4:54 PM - 4:54 PM

They changed the names, no longer called Tagalongs or Samoas. They are now the peanut butter “something” and caramel “something”, I dont remember what the something was, maybe a girl scout can update, but they didnt taste the same and I won’t buy them with the new name.

Cowellian February 18, 2020 - 5:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Different Councils use different bakeries, and the bakeries may use different names and different prices. Here in Tennessee, I bought Samoas from the Girl Scout up the street for $3.50 a box.

Roz February 18, 2020 - 1:10 PM - 1:10 PM

Been 10 ten tears since I bought any Girl Scoot Cookies.
Sounds like they aren’t as tasty as they use to be.
The one I did liked had coconut,…is that the Samoa’s?

Lambie February 18, 2020 - 10:25 PM - 10:25 PM

Yes

Gititogether February 18, 2020 - 1:17 PM - 1:17 PM

Here’s a question: “How long before DeSaulnier submits a Bill to force the GS’ to be inclusive and sell pot cookies?”

The Professor February 18, 2020 - 2:16 PM - 2:16 PM

I think his next bill will address the word “girls” on the boxes. He’ll probably mandate a name change to “They Scouts”.

RSD February 18, 2020 - 1:59 PM - 1:59 PM

The cost makes them taste very bitter. Before the $$ grab I always liked the mints.

Stealthy Mama February 18, 2020 - 2:04 PM - 2:04 PM

My favorites in ranking order:

1. Tagalongs
2. Samoa
3. Thin Mints

The Mamba February 18, 2020 - 2:29 PM - 2:29 PM

This is the correct answer.

maacomb February 18, 2020 - 2:43 PM - 2:43 PM

i wish they made all of types of cookies there are!

Hanne Jeppesen February 18, 2020 - 11:23 PM - 11:23 PM

That would be impossible. Do you know how many different recipes there are for cookies? I have, or use to I finally threw some out, Gourmet Magazines from mid seventies to the late nineties, and if I remember correctly each magazine had several cookies recipes in it, granted some were from other countries, still that is a lot of recipes. I love to bake, but never was much of a cookie baker. I bought some girl scout cookies years ago when my daughter was a child, haven’t bought them since. I do remember one with coconut and it was quite good. These days I try to stay away from sweets, might by one cookie or piece of cake.

The Professor February 18, 2020 - 3:54 PM - 3:54 PM

I think his next bill will address the word “girls” on the boxes. He’ll probably mandate a name change to “They Scouts”.

My vote is for Samoas.

kate February 18, 2020 - 4:22 PM - 4:22 PM

i just donate cash and tell them it must go directly to the scouts and not the organization. I tell them keep the cookies and her is some cash for the girls.
I agree they cookies do not taste the same but I like the lemon ones.

They are still a good organization locally.

ZZ February 18, 2020 - 4:49 PM - 4:49 PM

Too bad the quality has gone down the last ten years. Don’t buy them anymore.

Ilovepopcorn February 18, 2020 - 5:33 PM - 5:33 PM

I never eat them. If i did it would be the mint type for sure.

chuckie the troll February 18, 2020 - 8:35 PM - 8:35 PM

This troll is a big fan of Short Bread cookies, however, we are attempting to loose weight. So I gave the girls selling cookies at the Safeway at Clayton and Denkinger $20, and they are supposed to give the boxes to our troops.

Silva February 19, 2020 - 2:36 AM - 2:36 AM

Which are my favorite Girl Scout cookie? I buy them and open the box at home and leave it where people go for snacks and goodies or put them in a pretty dish and watch as people take one. The kids usually don’t even eat the whole thing. I’ve had to throw away most of the boxes of Girl Scout cookies I buy, I wish they were better. I don’t mind buying them anyway, though. Boy oh boy, do I miss Miss Saylor Camp Fire Girls mints. I never even liked peppermint for some weird reason, but I sure could eat me some of those. Yep, miss them.

CoCoOld February 19, 2020 - 7:43 AM - 7:43 AM

None of them are any good now. Haven’t been good since Burry Cookies stopped making them. Scot-teas and Lemon Gauchos were the greatest.

Michelle February 20, 2020 - 3:00 AM - 3:00 AM

Tagalong are my favorite. But I wish they would bring back Thank You Berry Munch. They go great with a hot cup of coffee
