California Gas Prices A Dollar More Than National Average

The national gas price average is $2.54, which is three cents cheaper than last week, a penny less than last month, yet 30-cents more than a year ago, according to AAA. Gas prices edged cheaper in the last week as gasoline stocks grew.

“Motorists across the country are paying less to fill-up as U.S. gasoline supply outpaces demand this winter,” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson. “Typically, we see cheaper gas prices this time of year as motorists generally drive less.”

Today, gas prices are $2.50 or less at 61% of gas stations in the country.

That’s it keep voting these Democrats in and we can get 2 dollars ahead of everyone else by next year.
This is really ridiculous. Vote all of them out. There might be a slight glimmer of hope in saving this state.

Stop buying gas at Chevron and Shell and you’ll have more $$$ in your pocket. GasBuddy.com will show you where gas is cheaper very easily.

Chevron has Techron. It’s good for the engine.

Gittyup, I agree and also add their lubricants are great too.

Gittyup January 23, 2020 - 1:53 PM - 1:53 PM

The Wizard, Same here. They also have a gasoline additive I purchase inside that does a great job cleaning the engine. I’ve always had fewer auto mishaps when using their gas so the ever so slightly higher price is worth it to me.

Also, California wages are higher than the US average.

And so are taxes, housing costs and just about everything else.

So we’re net net?

Costco in Antioch is $3.05. Few ways to save money on gas: Stay away from stations that charge extra just for using a credit card unless you are paying with cash. Stay away from the high price named brands, lesser known brands charge less and gas is still good.

Costco was $3.99 a gallon!

concord grape January 22, 2020 - 9:16 PM - 9:16 PM

ilovepopcorn proof read, proof read $3.09 per gallon

And how many of those other states charge tolls on roads that we call “freeways” for a reason?

Doh January 23, 2020 - 7:17 PM - 7:17 PM

Outside of DC Rte 66 in Virginia now has commuter tolls. I’ve no doubt states share good money grabbing ideas with other states.

What is the average gas tax for each?

KenInConcord January 22, 2020 - 11:30 PM - 11:30 PM

I believe the gas taxes are going to rise another .70$ this summer. All part of the same vote from a couple of years ago.

We Californians are stupid!

Finally California is first in something.

Got to pay for Gav’s Freebies.

Kelli January 23, 2020 - 8:41 AM - 8:41 AM

With every gallon of gas, Californians pay ~$1.00 per gallon that is just state taxes. We all know this, right? Taxes.

I drove from Concord to Pasadena. Before I left I filled up at Arco on Willow Pass, it was $3.49, driving down on I-5 I noticed several different prices, from about$3.05 to $3.49. In Pasadena and surrounding areas it was $3.52 and up. When I left I stopped in Santa Clarita, and filled up at $3.49, I made another stop at Santa Nella and although I had enough gas to get home, I filled up at an Arco station again, it was $2.95, when I got home I notice Arco on Willow Pass was now $3.15. I remember a year or so ago gas was close to $4.00 then it dropped and then this fall it was again up to almost $4.00, been have been dropping steadily, my guess is it will not drop anymore, and come spring it will surely go up again.

Taxes,Taxes and more Taxes!

concord grape January 23, 2020 - 2:55 PM - 2:55 PM

But. people, just look haw fast our roads are being fixed and when more taxes are added work will be at a fever pitch.

Sick of it January 24, 2020 - 8:09 AM - 8:09 AM

Keep drinking that koolaide. If they didn’t screw up so bad already with managing our tax money there would have never been any need to tax us more. Concord is doing some of the worse road repairs I’ve seen. All this cut and patching that has been done is a waste of money since the roadway next to the patch’s fail fairly quick after the repair. Look at the ones on Ayers rd by the park. Those repairs are good for parking lots but not heavily used road ways. As long as we are stupid enough to allow them to keep spending our tax money in bad ways we will always have bad roads and asked to chip in more tax money

Nica January 23, 2020 - 3:44 PM - 3:44 PM

I voted against the gas taxes, I didn’t want to pay at the pump every week on top of our already inflated prices! If our gas prices are inflated for no good reason, on top of gas taxes, someone needs to at least do something about the inflation! Can the gas tax be recalled since nobody can seem to get to the bottom of the inflation problem???!!!
