In 1959, Jack Nicholson filed a movie called “The Wild Ride” in parts of Clayton, Concord, Martinez, Walnut Creek & Pleasant Hill.

Check out the screenshots from the film (above) for some very recognizable views from around Contra Costa County in 1959!

Another movie that was filmed locally is Love Concord. Made in 2012 and filmed in Concord and Martinez, it’s a comedy and has a rating of 8.2 stars out of 10. There are some movie websites that have it for free, but if it can’t be found, Amazon has it to rent for $1.99 and $7.99 to buy. It’s not a bad movie and worth checking out.

Sometime in the early nineties Concord was named “Most Romantic” city due to our restaurants and trails for romani9c walks. It’s only right 2 decade later “Love Concord” was filmed here. 😉

Really way-out movie. Actually it’s pretty bad, but the dialogue is hilarious. And the shots in Clayton and the drag race on Pine Hollow are pretty fun.

The movie was directed by the late Harvey Berman, who was longtiime drama instructor at Diablo Valley College. I talked to Berman in the cafateria one time when I was student at DVC.I was working at cafeteria and I asked him if he had taught Katherine Ross, the actress who stared in the Graduate with Dustin Hoffman – she attended DVC for one year -and he said no he hadn’t. He one upped me by telling me he had directed Jack Nicholson, which was true I later learned. I read a Nicholson bio several years ago and they go into Berman making this film with a young Jack Nicholson. Thanks for puting this on, and the photo of Chubby Hubbell’s.

In the movie “The Irishman” Walnut Creek is mentioned once.

I just read in Sf Gate the connection of the gangsters to Walnut Creek. Sf Gate is a free site easy to google.
