Firefighters Extinguish Two-Alarm Blaze In Walnut Creek

Firefighters extinguished a two-alarm fire early Sunday morning in Walnut Creek, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Department.

The fire started inside a building in the 1400 block of Oakland Boulevard at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday night.

The blaze was extinguished by about 1 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

It is unclear what started the fire.

Per Google Street View this appears to be 1443 Oakland Blvd, and from the images it looks like a boarded up/abandoned office building. I could be wrong.

Yup, that’s the boarded up and abandoned building. I work down the road from here and have always thought this could happen. Just glad that it didn’t spread and create a bigger problem.

I was on my way home Saturday, planning to exit at YV, traffic came to a stop as we made the curve because The building looked like a Roman candle. I skipped the YV exit and on the flyover I felt the heat from the fire it was that hot.
