A vegetation fire is burning in Vallejo near the Carquinez Bridge toll plaza and Interstate 80 has been closed to traffic in both directions.

The fire has jumped the freeway and is burning toward the California State University Maritime Academy.

The California Highway Patrol is diverting traffic to Interstate Highway 780.

Emergency Alert System broke into programming at 10:21 AM saying Crockett is under mandatory evacuation due to fire.

Is this the same fire or separate?

The Crockett fire is across Carquinez Straits from the Vallejo fire. There is speculation that embers from the Vallejo fire started the Crockett fire, but that seems unlikely to me. There is a bridge spanning Carquinez Straits between the two fired and, of course, a large body of water. The Crockett fire is burning is in an open hillside area near Highway 80, while the Vallejo fire is near Glen Cove and the Maritime Academy which you can see from the Dead Fish Restaurant in Crockett.
