Parada Restaurant, located at 7001 Sunne Lane (just off Treat Blvd. near the Pleasant Hill BART station) in Walnut Creek, was closed on Oct.11 after inspectors from the Contra Costa County Health Department say they found the following.

  • 25 live and dead juvenile and adult cockroaches observed on glue board under shelf next to prep refrigerator
    near ice machine.
  • 1 live adult cockroach observed crawling on floor to the right of the ice machine.
  • 1 adult cockroach observed crawling on tile wall behind utensil storage shelving in back kitchen.
  • 2 dead cockroaches on floor right of janitorial sink.
  • Cockroach debris observed inside bottom drawer behind bar.
  • Possible cockroach egg casing observed on wall between wood cabinet and wall behind bar.
  • Multiple hand sinks blocked by trash cans during time of inspection. Hand sink next to cook line lacked soap and paper towels. Paper towel dispenser broken near walk-in refrigerator.
  • Facility re-using milk crates

The restaurant has since been reinspected and reopened.

25 live and dead juvenile and adult cockroaches observed on glue board under shelf next to prep refrigerator, no reason to state this as that is what the owners are doing to get rid of the cockroaches. Absolutely nothing wrong with cockroaches on a glue board.

La cucaracha, la cucaracha…

I don’t know what is more disgusting: The cockroaches, or the basic lack of sanitation with the blockage of hand washing sinks, and no soap/paper towels at hand washing sinks.

You’d think with $$$$ menu prices that this eatery would at least keep an exterminator on retainer and pay attention to basic hand washing sanitation.

I ate there a few years ago and will never be back. There was a long black hair roasted into the skin of my roast chicken. I told the manager, and they brought me a new entree, but no apology.

ChuckStir,

There are a millions things wrong with 25 cockroaches on a glue board. I have been a chef for 22 yrs and have never worked in a kitchen had anything close to that. Cockroaches don’t just appear. It’s due to poor sanitation on every level, poor training and/or employees not caring for a long time. This is usually a systemic problem in a restaurant starting with the management and one that is not fixed with bleach. Hope they get their act together but I will never eat there again! People need to take food safety seriously especially if you own or work in a restaurant.

Just saw that Cold Stone Creamery in PH is closed by CoCo Health Dept. yet again. 3rd time in 2 years. Looks to be vermin infestation once again.

I quit going there years ago when one of the workers mixing the ice cream licked the mixing spoon, then it used again to mix the ice cream. Gross.

The restaurant has since been reinspected and reopened?hmmm but no thanks😡

For those prices they should absolutely be able to afford soap, paper towels, and an exterminator. I wonder if their sister restaurant in Lafayette is as poorly managed?

This place has gone down hill, except the prices, from the very 1st day it opened!

“reinspected and reopened”

Go now! It’s not going to get any cleaner than it is right now.

Just me October 15, 2019 - 7:04 PM - 7:04 PM

I’ve wanted to eat there for years but have never made it. So sad I won’t be going now. Yuk!! Hand washing stations being neglected is bad enough. Pick up a cockaroach trap but can’t wash hands. Oh well, just keep cooking!! Not a good motto

Disgusting! What is wrong with people and the owners of these establishments, do they not want to thrive and have a business that they can be proud of? Apparently not. Have eaten there a handful of times (such a shame good location and pretty good food) will never ever step foot again and will definitely spread the word for others to do the same. There are other Peruvian restaurants in the area and they will get my business and hopefully I don’t see them get on the dirty dining list. Thank you for the people moderating Claycord for posting such important information to keep people aware and safe.

This place is a mystery to me. Basically a diner with haute cuisine prices. Even without the infestation I was done after one (very pricey) dinner there. Loud ambiance, cheap plasticky decor and furniture, crappy food superficially fancied up, and absurd prices. People, get smart and don’t subsidize a rip-off like that!
