DIRTY DINING: Pho May Vietnamese Restaurant Closed After Health Inspectors Find Cockroaches, Cups Stored In Hand Sink

Pho May Vietnamese Restaurant, located at 4041 Alhambra Ave. in Martinez, was closed on Oct.4 after inspectors from the Contra Costa County Health Department say they found the following.

Observed approximately 20 to 40 total live adult and nymph cockroach activity in the following areas:

  • Throughout grease drip trays at wok line.
  • On floor under prep table at cook line and front service area
  • On floor drain under front reach in refrigerator with top inserts
  • Inside wooden personal items cabinet under front counter
  • On floor under 2 door upright refrigerator in prep area
  • Inside gasket of 2 door upright freezer in back area
  • On floor under prep table in back area
  • Along back wall by water heater.

Inspectors say they also observed slime build up on the plastic baffle of the ice machine, and observed drink cups stored in the hand sink.

The restaurant has since been reinspected and reopened.
