Seventeen thefts and eight instances of vandalism and a whole two arrests. Seems like this would be a good project for the Clayton mayor instead of what she spends her time on.

West Leland July 20, 2019 - 11:00 AM - 11:00 AM

It’s really clear that the only part they arrest people is the part that Concord PD back them up(the area around Safeway). Small towns like Clayton hate admitting that they often rely heavily on their bigger neighbors for services

Gittyup July 20, 2019 - 2:01 PM - 2:01 PM

@Ricardoh Exactly. Rather than escalating issues in Clayton, the Mayor needs to devote more time to solving them.

With so many crimes now being transformed from felonies into misdemeanors, this kind of crime spree will become more common. May I suggest public floggings as a cure?

anon July 20, 2019 - 1:47 PM - 1:47 PM

PROP 47 – the liberals voted it in & we are screwed because of it

MoJo July 20, 2019 - 12:20 PM - 12:20 PM

18 crimes committed on the 18th. Hmmmm! Some Clown had a very busy night. Hope they catch him and feed him into the wood chipper. Feet first of course.

Looks like the Diamond Blvd Boyz moved east

ZZ July 20, 2019 - 1:07 PM - 1:07 PM

Hey mayor of Clayton, why don’t you post something about all the crime in your city and how you won’t stand for it? Or is it just, Some people doing something, to you?

aDingoAteMyBaby July 20, 2019 - 5:28 PM - 5:28 PM

There were a number of car windows broken out on Easley right there next to Center St.

On Yolanda July 20, 2019 - 6:34 PM - 6:34 PM

This is 5-6 times the normal amount reported for Clayton. Wonder how much was related. Also, have to imagine bad guys knew it was Amazon Prime Days… lots of packages delivered Wed-Fri.

S July 20, 2019 - 7:49 PM - 7:49 PM

It’s the zombies that live in the creek behind Safeway cod and Clayton pd need to address these people that are breaking into and stealing things

Mike Cody July 21, 2019 - 12:37 AM - 12:37 AM

It’s another one of those look the other way situations because they could go after those people everyday and put them in jail everyday but all that does is cost money because they wont be paying fines or posting bail,so it’s not cost effective to enforce certain laws if it’s not in their spending criteria.Concord and Clayton spend more time, money and energy these days doing computer/crime work.Their hands onpatrrolling has visibly dimished.I don’t have a clue what they are doing with the money they take in.The roads are a mess, the police sit under a tree. The city maintenance workers are more worried about trees and grass than infrastructure and safety.(It’s cheaper to drive around and water stuff)

Schools out, that may account for the number of vandalisms. For a graphic example, see the link I posted for 1100 Russelmann Park Road in Clayton listed on Zillow.com. Tap the photo to see inside. Pretty shocking.

IWasOneOfTheVehicleVictims July 21, 2019 - 6:26 AM - 6:26 AM

I see a lot of armchair quarterbacking about the mayor here. We have little crime here in Clayton on a regular basis.

Let’s see how you respond when you’re mayor and have several competing priorities for your part-time responsibilities as mayor… and then when there’s no crime to speak of, some crew tools in and spikes your burglaries in one night.

Now think about how you feel when someone criticizes you for not spending your time on crime as a priority, even though it hasn’t been a problem at all.

That person seems pretty out of touch with reality to you then, don’t they?

Sure July 21, 2019 - 7:45 AM - 7:45 AM

Yes, the mayor is absolutely swamped calling out local businesses for saying running their business the way they want. I couldn’t imagine.

Gittyup July 21, 2019 - 9:30 AM - 9:30 AM

No, really, you need to see this. Just plug the address into the search engine on zillow.com . Tap the top photo for that address and scroll to the photos of the interiors. I’ve always wondered what they mean by “vandalism.” Now I know,

Gittyup July 21, 2019 - 11:36 AM - 11:36 AM

Nevermind, you can’t get it on their search engine without the link I posted. So, I’ll describe it .., the house is listed at 1.3 million. It’s “zestimate,” what it is estimated to be worth based on several factors, is 2 million. it was built in 2002, is two-story, on 5+ acres, with 7 parking spaces, number of bedrooms and baths is not specified, but it is a very large house.

All the first floor windows have been broken out and are boarded up, apparently after the interior was completely trashed. Mechanical controls have been ripped off the wall, leaving random wires sticking out, graffiti adorns the walls throughout with child-like drawings and the usual words that are banned by the politically correct crowd. There are satanic symbols painted on the walls. Curiously, over one door the word “Frat” and along the sides of the door, the words, “ambition” and “dedication.” Every colorful spray paint is represented. Ive seen graffiti, but never like this.

Red plastic cups (like you get at party supply) litter the floor in front of the fireplace. Someone had a raging good time destroying the inside of this house … likely drunk. Doors ripped off of kitchen cabinets and likely burned in the fireplace for heat.

Every wall bashed in with large holes in the wallboard. What appears to be a mattress has been ripped apart with stuffing that lies scattered about. A closet shelving unit just a scatter of random boards. What looked like it might have been a barn with six horse stalls trashed.

CoCoOld July 21, 2019 - 11:37 AM - 11:37 AM

Yikes, Gittyup! You weren’t kidding! I especially liked the room with “frat,” “ambition” and “dedication” tags.

IWasOneOfTheVehicleVictims July 21, 2019 - 1:11 PM - 1:11 PM

Uh-huh. Comments paid for by the committee to re-elect Jeff Wan, I see. For a moment there, I thought I was on SaveClayton.org, that tiny but vocal minority who’s SOLE agenda is to remove Julie Pierce and anyone who appears to vote like her.

Zgittyup July 21, 2019 - 1:36 PM - 1:36 PM

Yep. This crowd was sophisticated rabble.

MattfromConcord July 21, 2019 - 2:32 PM - 2:32 PM

@ giddyup FYI – the giant house on Russelmann Park Road has look like that for years. The family that bought the land and built the house moved out within a few years of it being built. It was only occupied for a few years.

Gittyup July 22, 2019 - 6:23 AM - 6:23 AM

@MattftomConcord Interesting. Do you know if it Is bank owned? I can’t imagine a property owner letting their investment fall into such disarray. If its bank-owned they obviously haven’t secured the property. Must be a real headache for the neighbors.

Sherry July 23, 2019 - 2:38 PM - 2:38 PM

So glad I got out of state and moved somewhere where most everyone carries. Crime is everywhere but very minimal here. Love it. Crap’s been going on in Clayton for years. That town covers up crime like nobody’s business. Take the blinders off you all! Peace out.
