A retired Police K9 who worked for the City of Concord for seven years passed away this afternoon.
Dantest, who was a German Shepherd from Slovakia, was 12 years old.
The following information is from the Concord Police K9 Association:
As a K9 handler there are not many bad days. Unfortunately today is one of those rare hard days. Today we say goodbye to K9 Dantest who crossed the rainbow bridge. He passed at home with his family by his side.
K9 Dantest was 12 years old and worked for the City of Concord from March of 2008 to January of 2015 with his handler Officer Nunn.
He was donated by Kathleen Tallman in memory of her son William, who passed away from cancer. He loved going camping and hiking with the family. He loved the water and wanted to be in it constantly.
Thank you for your continued support of our K9 unit, active and retired.

What a beautiful animal and what a noble calling. I know there are no words that can ease the grief of losing a dear friend like this, but my condolences are sent to Officer Nunn and his family at the loss of Dantest. May he rest peacefully.
To Dantest’s family and loved ones: As a dog person, I know how difficult it is to allow and be with a Beloved Canine Companion when they pass over The Bridge. Been there, done that, and will do it again.
Allow yourselves time for mourning. Dantest will always be with you in spirit. Just as all of our Faithful Canine Companions are.
Live each day in the present. As each day is truly a gift. Mary Fouts

Man, that saying is so correct about loving and owning dogs. Sorry for the family’s loss, he sounds like a great dog and police officer.
My thoughts exactly.
God truly blessed humanity with these wonderful creatures who give us so much love and devotion. So very sad and sorry for your loss of this kind soul.
That quote is spot on. I cried for days after my dog died.
Yes…just lost my dog June 28th. The little guy went to sleep and never woke up. He was 19 so we had a lot of good times. Very very hard!! Starting to get misty eyed just typing this.
Rest well in peace Dantest and Harley.
All dogs go to Heaven; you enjoy your new home!
