Amy’s Kitchen Proposes New Drive-Thru Restaurant In Walnut Creek

Amy’s Kitchen, a pioneer in the organic food movement, is planning to expand to Walnut Creek with the addition of a drive-thru restaurant.

Amy’s Drive Thru offers veggie burgers, shakes, french fries, pizza and burritos — all with gluten free and dairy free options.

“We are proposing to bring our next-level vegetarian fare to Walnut Creek with an Amy’s Drive Thru at the corner of 2nd Avenue and N. Main Street,” said Dave Wolfgram, President of Amy’s Drive Thru Restaurants. “We are focusing on providing the neighborhood with delicious and affordable organic food in a beautiful, community-oriented restaurant where all feel welcome.”

Has anybody done a deep dive into the religious beliefs of the founder yet?

Who knows what this “Amy” person might or might not personally believe. What if *gasp*, she’s a Christian? What about Dave Wolfgram? Do you think he might have gotten drunk to the point of blacking out back in high school?

Or maybe just because they claim their stuff is organic that’s enough of a virtue signal to get a pass.

Please, stop. This does nothing to contribute to this discussion and makes you look foolish.

whatever April 24, 2019 at 3:50 PM

Why am I foolish? If what I said is foolish, then I presume you’ll be down at the Concord city council meeting speaking in support of Chik-Fil-A coming to Concord and bringing it’s numerous tax dollars. Who cares what the people behind the business believe, and even support with their own dollars, right?

It should be a 100% civic decision, not a social decision. The city council’s RESPONSIBILITY is to bring in businesses that contribute to tax base.

I’m merely asking if anybody has done a deep dive into the people behind Amy’s, like they have the people behind CFA.

What does Alyssa Milano and John Legend’s wife have to say about this or should we wait for Jim Carey’s finger painting? Inquiring minds want to know how we should think about this.

NorwichFan April 24, 2019 at 6:58 PM

Thank you for the laugh! There has to be some kind of outrage !

WCreeker April 24, 2019 at 2:35 PM

I vote yes!!!

Dorothy April 24, 2019 at 2:36 PM

Has to be drive-thru because not many can afford to park and eat inside.

Reason April 24, 2019 at 3:19 PM

There is so much free parking in Walnut Creek. I go there several times a week. I never pay for parking.

Shoulda Coulda April 24, 2019 at 5:33 PM

Have you been to Walnut Creek lately.
The proposed business is at Second Ave
& N. Main St. There are NO parking meters
north of Parkside Dr. in the city.

Tammy April 24, 2019 at 2:39 PM

Saves me a drive to Rhonert Park!!!!

Steve Obrien April 24, 2019 at 2:57 PM

Just down the street from Chick’s

Kirkwood April 24, 2019 at 3:11 PM

I wish them well. They might just make it in an upscale location like Walnut Creek.

The Fearless Spectator April 24, 2019 at 4:18 PM

Terrific! Whenever I have business up the 101 corridor I stop at their Rohnert Park restaurant. It’s clean, the food is terrific, and the staff are on top of things. This is a sharp contrast to typical fast food, yet still affordable. Corporate did their homework; Amy’s will be popular in Walnut Creek.

Lucca April 24, 2019 at 4:45 PM

Torn on this one…food looks fantastic but that entire part of North Main would be a traffic nightmare. You only need to look at Sprouts parking lot and chick-fil-a’s traffic flow to see how bad it’s gotten.

Shoulda Coulda April 24, 2019 at 5:43 PM

Sprouts is in a very busy shopping center.
Chick-fil-A shares a driveway with a popular
24 Hour Fitness Center. As with the newly
proposed Chick-fil-A in Concord, Amy’s
Kitchen would not share their problem.

Can’t wait! It is time we start having more healthier restaurants instead of nothing but crap restaurants. Oh and more vegetarian options too!

Shoulda Coulda April 24, 2019 at 5:50 PM

Have you read their menu. They offer organic
vegan options on just about every menu item.
A far cry from Burger King and so called fast food.

gittyup April 25, 2019 at 11:17 AM

Nevermind that the stuff is tasteless. The story is Amy (I think it’s the mom’s name, might be the daughter’s) developed the recipes for her daughter who has gastrointestinal problems. So there you go. Bland. Tasteless. And, if vegetarians were serious about their commitment to all living things, they wouldn’t be brutalizing plants the way they do. Give me a Whopper, an In ‘n Out burger, or a ChickFilA any day.

Food 4 Thought April 24, 2019 at 6:05 PM

Now if the City of Concord was smart they would start putting better businesses and restaurants along Clayton Road.

jon s April 24, 2019 at 11:35 PM

That’s a huge IF !

Bob Foo April 24, 2019 at 6:17 PM

Interesting. I didn’t know there were Amy’s branded restaurants. Their frozen and canned foods are excellent. I’ll give it a shot for sure.

Captain Bebops April 24, 2019 at 6:20 PM

Most of the grocery stores around here have stocked their frozen foods and entrees for years. Didn’t know they had started a drive thru chain or starting one since there is only the Rohnert Park one at the moment.

ZZ April 24, 2019 at 6:33 PM

How do you know it’s REALLY organic? Because they say so?

Shoulda Coulda April 24, 2019 at 7:25 PM

There are government regulations to follow
to label a product organic. Look it up.

Mary Fouts April 24, 2019 at 9:17 PM

Most of the Amy’s stuff is of off the charts high in sodium. Want healthy food? Make it at home. Takes less effort than going through a supposedly healthy drive through, and you can cook so you have amazing leftovers for the next day(s).

Shoulda Coulda April 24, 2019 at 11:48 PM

@Mary Fouts

Have you done ANY research on Amy’s
food. Here are at least 29 items they sell
that are lite or low in sodium.

S April 25, 2019 at 10:41 AM

mary just likes to complain……………….

Mary Fouts April 26, 2019 at 6:15 PM

To those who have replied to my post. I ain’t complaining. Just stating the facts. Amy’s food is tasteless, including the “lite” sodium frozen dinners I got for my husband to try for an occasional lunch. They went into the trash.

Interesting to see how this thread seems to have been hijacked by so many anonymous people. From Amy’s perhaps,?

russ sayin April 25, 2019 at 5:48 AM

The real outrage is if this goes in before we get an Olive Garden in the area

gittyup April 25, 2019 at 11:20 AM

mike April 26, 2019 at 9:04 AM

lol, olive garden is the joke in the world of italian food.

Idiots everywhere April 25, 2019 at 7:21 AM

I do not think the community wants any more drive thru options on the West Side of North Main St and I don’t blame them.

Captain Bebops April 25, 2019 at 9:25 AM

I looked up the location which as it turns out I happen to know well and now that stretch is fast food row. 😀

AJ BUTTACAVOLI April 25, 2019 at 1:12 PM

As always I am riveted by the lively discourse at Claycord! However, I wish to elevate the level of conversation here by mentioning once again that Walnut Creek is utterly deprived of the highest level of gourmet food – McDonald’s!
You snicker do you? Laugh all you want, but nothing on this planet comes close to the cosmic satisfaction a Big Mac provides. Gobbling a Big Mac is akin to having entered a state of Nirvana that surpasses all other experience. If you haven’t had a Big Mac you are truly deprived and need immediate help!

jon s April 25, 2019 at 6:34 PM

They have put chemicals in it to make you crave it and become addicted and now everyday you have to go to a different city for your poison.Your life expectancy is very low.The opposite of your weight.Seek help.Seriously.

jon s April 25, 2019 at 6:36 PM

the last big mac I tried was dry, over cooked, lacking any condiments on one entire side, and cold.I realized that MC d’s is mostly a scam now.

mike April 26, 2019 at 9:08 AM

@jon s thats quite a claim dude, what chemical are they adding that gets people addicted? like physically addicted and withdrawals to boot?

Shoulda Coulda April 25, 2019 at 2:53 PM

Yes, but they will have to take a number
and wait their turn. Anything else would
be an infringement of their rights.

VegFanatic April 26, 2019 at 5:24 PM

Very excited to hear about this development! The trek up to Rohnert Park, depending on traffic, can sometimes take about 90 minutes or so, so having this right in our backyard is welcome news indeed! Fresh, healthy and delicious!

They are also opening a location in Corte Madera next year and will be opening in Terminal 1 at SFO this summer too…

Mary Fouts April 26, 2019 at 6:09 PM

Hopefully you do realize that you can easily fix fresh and healthy food in your own kitchen, without having to drive 1.5 hours round trip to get ‘ healthy’ takeout food.

VegFanatic April 26, 2019 at 9:35 PM

@Mary–LOL, yes thank you! My point was, it is so great that vegetarians and vegans in Claycord will soon have dedicated options closer to home which are not Berkeley, Oakland or SF. Hope to see even more in the coming months ahead.
