The snack bar inside Jump Sky High, located at 1631 Challenge Dr. in Concord, was shut down on March 8 after inspectors from the Contra Costa County Department of Environmental Health say they found the following during a change of ownership facility evaluation.
- 25+ rodent droppings inside the cabinet underneath the front kitchen hand sink.
- 10+ rodent droppings next to the water heater.
- 2 rodent droppings on the floor next to 1 door refrigerator in the back kitchen.
- 3 rodent droppings behind the refrigerator in the back kitchen.
- 5+ rodent droppings on top of the single-use article boxes.
- 2+ rodent droppings on the window seal near the food preparation sink.
The snack bar has since been re-inspected and reopened.

The elimination of some Rat poisons in California could be showing up in the recent stories as you cannot put the baits out you use to use. This was done because of the secondary killing of other critters that eat the poisoned rats. Seems like aggressive trapping in every food service place is needed to fix the problem…
Everybody is getting whacked. Good. Rat traps work very well. Better yet find out how they are getting in.

I’m glad we have this many, shows that the restaurant inspections teams are on point and keeping us safe!
All these rodent infestations are probably caused by the rains and the canals being full driving the vermin out. Seems like a lot of these places are near water ways or open spaces.
The canals were emptied on December21st and won’t get refilled until April 1 or April 15th. Usually only the Contra Costa Canal is emptied. This year they also shut down the Ygnacio canal. The annual shutdowns are for inspection, cleaning, and maintenance.

The natural earth storm canals were all flooded during the storms. That’s where a lot of the rodents live
How accurate are these? Im asking because on March 15, you have an article stating the Jungle’s cafe was shut down due to rodent dropping, dead rodents in traps, live rodents in traps, etc. This article has a link showing that The Jungle cafe in Concord is included on the list for a food safety excellence award. Which is it?
My understanding was that those who handled the money weren’t supposed to be handling the food, but I’ve seen that rule violated repeatedly in the fastfood industry.
Yes, that or they must put on fresh gloves after handling money each and every time. In real life they don’t often have time for it during a rush, without their queues going out the doors and around the blocks.
From what I’ve seen, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. It calls into question degrees from the institutions involved
They need to check Subway on Newell in Walnut Creek. My son and his friend saw roaches crawling around yesterday…..after they had already ate. Ewwwwwww
