The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office today charged 28-year-old Martinez resident Alejandro Sanchez for attempting to meet who he thought was an underage girl for sex.

In January of this year, Sanchez entered an online chat room and began to communicate with an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a 14-year-old girl, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities say after the pair chatted for one day, they agreed to meet in-person. Then, on January 4, Senior Inspectors with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office went to the agreed upon location, a local park in Martinez, and arrested Sanchez.

At the time of his arrest, Sanchez was employed as a soccer coach in the Central Contra Costa County area. The investigation up to this point has revealed that no actual children were victimized, the District Attorney’s Office said.

During the undercover operation, Sanchez allegedly complimented the “minor” and told her, “we need to cuddle then” and “you have a nice body.” Sanchez allegedly made repeated remarks about her physical appearance and expressed a desire to engage in sexual acts with her. During the undercover operation, the officer posing as the young girl made it clear to Sanchez that she was a high school student in the in 9th grade.

Even after that disclosure, authorities say Sanchez still expressed a desire to meet in-person.

The charges against Sanchez are as follows:

  • Count 1, Contact with Minor for Sexual Offense, Felony
  • Count 2, Arranging Meeting with a Minor for Lewd Purposes, Felony
  • Count 3, Attempted Lewd Act Upon a Child, Felony

This is sick. Scum like this makes it so bad for other coaches. Having to register as a Sex Offender will ruin the rest of this guy’s life. Good riddance.

Just a suggestion…don’t try the ‘I was only going to show her a few moves’ line. Just take a plea deal and find some pond scum to hide under.

Glad the DA is pursuing these stings. Glad Claycord is publicizing them.

I have known in the past minors making initial moves on adults in high school and sports teams. It happens more often than the other way around.

@Bedazzled – It takes two to tango. If a teenager makes a sexual/romantic pass at you then first think about if you were doing anything that could be interpreted as flirting, give the kid advice on flirting with people their own age, and adjust your own behavior if needed. You remain in the adult/teacher/parent role.

So, what’s your point?
Adults are supposed to know better. Otherwise, they’ll get their education in jail.
