We don’t have a National Emergency, we have an absolute National Disaster and Embarrassment in the White House!

wave February 15, 2019 at 7:14 PM

I totally agree….Trump is a JERK!!!

Captain Bebops February 15, 2019 at 7:26 PM

Trump IS the National Emergency. 😉

Tsa February 16, 2019 at 11:56 AM

And we have a State Diaster in Sacramento that goes by the name NewScum…

Robles February 16, 2019 at 7:39 PM

@TSA

Name a couple-three things that you consider disastrous that Governor Newsom has done?

Giddyup February 17, 2019 at 9:45 AM

@ Robles

“Name a couple-three things that you consider disastrous that Governor Newsom has done?

1) Has stated he plans to oppose the President at every turn. A foolish pronouncement when California can’t seem to solve its own problems as we have seen in recent years.

2) As Mayor of San Francisco, helped create the policies which have allowed the city to descent into the turmoil we see today.

3) Cheated on his wife with his best friend’s wife and blamed it on his alcohol consumption. Apparently, his side trick was more challenging than his duties as Mayor,. Side trick took leave at taxpayer expense after the affair was made public and scandal ensured.

4) As Lieutenant “Do Nothing” Governor, considered the job boring and said so in public, didn’t attend meetings he was charged with attending, didn’t vote on important matters at those state agencies he was charged with leading, couldn’t be bothered. Took the money … no work, no problem.

5) In office as Governor less than a month, adopts a slash and burn approach to the state’s problems because finding real solutions would require he actually “do something” for the money and prestige he enjoys .

6) His hair gel usage alone has created an hazmat disaster in his wake.

Etc., etc., etc.

Robles February 17, 2019 at 12:23 PM

@ Giddyup

1) trump overturns just about everything President Obama has passed .

2) trump has cheated on all THREE of his wives and has children with four different women.

3) trump spends at least 60% day tweeting, watching TV and now has a room sized golf simulator.

4) Makes up a crisis and emergency, can’t strike a deal when he claims he makes the best deals and now calls for a National Emergency where he also states that he doesn’t need to do, but just wants the wall built faster.

Tsa February 17, 2019 at 6:33 PM

@Robles

Name one thing the sleazeball NewScum has ever done that was not disastrous. Sorry, there isn’t enough space to list all his negative accomplishments. He can now destroy the state as he helped do to SF.

Original G February 15, 2019 at 7:08 PM

President Trump’s Emergency Declaration, or democrat knickers in a twist.
The true crisis on the border would be a wall, for it would stem the flow of cheap exploitable labor being used to hold down wages in USA. Then there is the Census stuffing going on so democrats will end up with more seats in US House of Representatives.

As Emergency Declarations go Trump is far behind other Presidents.

Today President Trump suggested to a reporter that people should look it up and see what percentage of Federal Prisoners are illegal aliens…..

I know nobody will bother so I looked it up for all to see… plus some really interesting details & info about the crime stats from Texas… Wow!

Imagine how much higher that figure would be if states like California didn’t release illegals! Imagine how much higher that figure would be if they still jailed people otherwise let free under Prop 47.
Also, Democrats want to give illegals a ‘get out of jail free card’ if they are caught trying to buy a gun illegally!!! What?!?!?! Jail a citizen, but let an illegal go free. Makes sense…NOT!!! O.K. Yes it does. All so they can keep those illegals on the voter rolls.

Immigration is a federal issue so immigration enforcement is one of very few federally enforced crimes. The vast majority of prisoners are in State prisons. See https://www.prisonpolicy.org/reports/pie2018.html

Limiting the sampling to only federal prisoners is a serious distortion of the prison population demographics because federal prisons represent such a small proportion of the overall prisoner population.

THE BLACK KNIGHT February 15, 2019 at 8:28 PM

Jim R. (from last week),

“tbk…and none of your comments disprove anything either. When will supporters of the current administration admit that this investigation is not searching for crimes (ala the Benghazi investigation), they are investigating criminal activity.”

OK, I didn’t disprove anything other than it’s federal law that the sitting President and Vice President have their taxes audited while in office, just as other posters didn’t prove anything. I wouldn’t say I support or oppose the entirety of this administration or any prior administration. I’m simply an American that is tired of Congress wasting time and money on “investigations” that are done for nothing other than political purposes. When it comes to President Trump’s tax returns the Congressional investigation is searching for crimes and anything that can be used to politically embarrass him whether leaked in its entirety or not, just to further a news cycle. The Congressional investigation into President Trump’s tax returns is being done with no evidence of “criminal activity,” while the IRS has mechanisms in place to deal with criminal activity found during the auditing process. If you don’t think it’s wrong or dangerous for government entities to search every aspect of an American citizen’s life to search for crimes then you’d enjoy living in a country where that activity is the norm.

Giddyup February 15, 2019 at 8:29 PM

9,938 weapons charges in Texas alone by criminal aliens and Democrats want to control gun sales and use. The are, of course, misdirected in their opposition to controlling illegal immigration with a wall, with a fence, in any way available.

Ricardoh February 16, 2019 at 8:35 AM

Suppose as the democrats and Republicans would like we improve detection at ports of entry to stop drugs from flowing into the country. Do you think the cartels would say,”We give up”. No, they would send even more to places where there are no walls. So one way or another we need more walls.
With three hundred people a day dyeing of drug overdoses how can you say there is no emergency? If they were being shot from across the border we would have invaded Mexico long ago. After decades we finally have a president that gets it and he is fought by stupid people tooth and nail.
Wake up you haters.

Ricardoh February 16, 2019 at 8:41 AM

Democrats, Rinos, and the swamp are leading this country on the road to Hell. I hope they wake up before they get there.

Not a Trump Fan February 17, 2019 at 4:15 PM

@Nunya
You just described Trump and his merry band of cohorts “lying, cheating, self-centered politicians.” It amazes me how Trump lovers are unwilling to see this (or worse yet, excuse it) but bad mouth others for exact same behavior. I don’t like Trump not because he’s republican but because he’s a pathological liar and I can’t trust a word that comes out of his mouth. It’s very sad when you have to fact-check everything the leader of your country says before you can believe it.

Nunya February 17, 2019 at 5:12 PM

@Not

what has the president lied about? where is your proof of such lies. i assume you will say all the people that has been charged by mueller. so how many of those lied about things completely unrelated to the president. i bet if you looked into the facts you would have to lie to yourself and say it isn’t true. good luck with that.

Not a Trump Fan February 18, 2019 at 12:00 PM

@Nunya,
You’ve got to be kidding me! He has lied or misled the American public over 7,000 times since he’s been in office. Far too many to list here. Try factcheck.org or politifact.com or snopes.com are just a few sites. One of the most recent lies is that the violent crime rate dropped drastically in El Paso, Texas after the border barrier was built there. The truth is that its violent crime rate from its highest in 1993 steadily dropped to a low in 2006. The 57 miles of border fencing was approved and built starting in 2008 well after the violent crime rate had already been drastically reduced by other means. He lies about this because the facts don’t support his narrative that the southern border is an Emergency.

And just for fun, lets not forget about how many iterations of the Trump Tower meeting story, from it didn’t happen, to Trump never knew about it, to it was a nothing burger about adoption, to Trump didn’t help Jr’s explanation of said meeting, to Trump dictated that explanation which of course was not the truth, etc. etc. etc.

And lastly, with regard to his tax returns (mentioned by someone else), they aren’t requesting them to look for crimes, they (me included) want to see who he has been doing business with and who he might be favorable to such as Saudi Arabia and Russia in particular. Just the fact that he’s holding on to them so tightly makes him look guilty of something. As my momma used to tell me, “those who have nothing to hide, hide nothing.”

Dr. Jellyfinger February 18, 2019 at 1:58 PM

Not a Trump Fan – The El Paso crime stats? That’s all you got?

Maybe what Trump said wasn’t accurate but he was only repeating what Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton had told him.

You want to call Trump a liar because he trusted the Texas A.G. to know what he was talking about?

Paxton was either woefully mistaken or he deliberately set Trump up.

Not a Trump Fan February 18, 2019 at 3:01 PM

@JF, First, I said there were too many lies to list them all. So I just picked one of his most recent blatant example of a pattern that happens every time Trump opens his mouth.
Second, Trump was giving a national speech which even after being told the stats were false, he continued to use them every chance he got.
Three, I would expect the President of the United States (and his inept staff) to check their facts before they put them in any speech.
Four, instead of correcting themselves, he and his inept staff continue to double down on the incorrect numbers because the real numbers won’t add any prudence to their position that a wall is needed to significantly decrease violent crimes in border cities.
Five, I have no idea if or why AG Paxton told Trump false numbers but it really doesn’t matter because I refer you back to #3 above.

Nunya February 22, 2019 at 5:12 PM

@NOT if you care there is a huge difference between exaggeration and lying. one is means you are off in the details, the other means you are a liberal.

Commonsensenor February 16, 2019 at 9:09 AM

With an estimated 40 million here illegally, that can’t vote, pay taxes, drive, get vehicle insurance, speak or understand our language (not all, but too many), enroll in healthcare, and sending 25 billion annually back to their countries that does not get circulated in the US economy, I have to agree with the Democrats on this one. There is no National Emergency. There is a National Crisis and humanitarian disaster going on. What other government funds can we use to fix this? I’m glad that Pelosi didn’t give Trump one dollar, and instead more than a billion of them to build the wall. Trump just secured 2020, I hope the dems understand how they just screwed the pooch. btw, Go AOC! Absolutely LOVE her!

Max February 16, 2019 at 10:12 AM

Illegals can get drivers licenses. If you believe none have voted you are from a la la land.

Captain Bebops February 16, 2019 at 9:27 AM

Given the grumblings from the public about tax returns, smaller refunds and owing more tax, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Trump supporters, who happen to also be grumbling about this, might tear the G out of their MAGA cap and replacing it with a B to say “Making America Broke Again”.

You do all know where your tax dollars are going to? It’s to pay the interest on the national debt which has been racked up by “wars of empire” to protect “American interests”. We all know those “American interests” being protected are the profits of the Military Industrial Complex. War is a racket.

Ricardoh February 16, 2019 at 9:49 AM

I find it amazing that people do not understand that if less money is taken out of your paycheck every week you will get a smaller refund at tax time. In all you have paid less taxes. As far as the tax cut for the rich goes. Their deductions were severely cut so in the end they will pay more taxes.

Mcgee February 16, 2019 at 3:35 PM

They can’t buy that big screen tv with the smaller tax return. That’s all they see.

Taxed less February 16, 2019 at 4:16 PM

Anyone who thinks the amount of the tax refund is more important than the amount of taxes paid deserves to pay a stupidity tax. Most Americans saw bigger take-home paychecks this year and still paid less in Federal taxes. Of course, the State keeps finding ways to make people pay more in taxes, but that’s because of the idiots that keep getting elected in California.

Not a Trump Fan February 17, 2019 at 4:36 PM

Neither my net pay went up and had to pay more taxes because of the SALT itemizations taken away/capped. In the end, more middle class families are going to pay more taxes. Yet corporations and their shareholders are laughing all the way to the bank. And the federal deficit grows and grows. Anyone who still thinks that the huge corporate tax cut was for them is a fool.

Dr. Jellyfinger February 16, 2019 at 10:31 AM

I agree we need to block off the border with Mexico & “America First” should be the rule…. However alot of us only look at the illegal immigration issue as a Host/Parasite relationship…. and that is basically what it is, but if you take a look at things from Jose the Plumber’s point of view it gets more involved.

He wants to work here because the rate of exchange is great, he makes crappy wages here but then sends a lot of that back to his family in Mexico, Guatamaula… wherever, and it becomes a small fortune.

Then there’s the big picture. What if illegal immigration is brought to a standstill by border walls & additional enforcement?
The supply of USD sent to Mexico & Central America will be diminished…and if the USA begins to tax those fund transfers (from illegals already here) to pay for the border wall… even less money heading south.
Those families that relied on USD being sent home on a regular basis from the husbands & sons living & working illegally in the USA are now poor again and don’t have money to spend.
Suddenly their country’s economy is taking a huge hit and things begin to fall apart (even more than usual).
No wonder Mexico & the rest are in no hurry to stop their poor people from jumping the border.
If all that happens….if we cut ’em off… how will it affect the USA?

Kirkwood February 16, 2019 at 4:14 PM

Right! Money wired from the states has long been a major boost to Mexico”s economy.

Silly February 17, 2019 at 9:22 PM

If the US no longer has illegals to do the work that Americans won’t do or American employers won’t hire Americans to do, the consequences will be hard and immediate: food prices, especially meat and produce, will skyrocket; construction will come to a near standstill; restaurant menu prices will double.

But then again, Trump told farmers and ranchers last month in New Orleans that he’d make sure they’d get their “migrant” workers from south of the border. Lol.

Nunya February 18, 2019 at 3:34 AM

@Silly

let’s try it, i bet that restaurants will hire English speaking Americans again like they used to. pricing will not double, due to the law of supply and demand, probably you missed economics in HS, or maybe it is racist to teach that kind of capitalism now. same with the rest of your fear mongering. farmers can use more machinery to harvest. and as for a guest workers program, those folks wouldn’t be illegal aliens. ain’t facts great!

Gippyup February 18, 2019 at 9:22 AM

@Silly “food prices, especially meat and produce, will skyrocket; construction will come to a near standstill; restaurant menu prices will double.”

All those things have occurred anyway in recent years, even with illegals doing the work.

Original G February 18, 2019 at 10:46 AM

@Silly …
When cost of unskilled workers exceeds cost of automation machines win. Contrary to what democrats want you to believe we are not one illegal away from starvation.

Liberal politicians back in 1970 – 1980s decided to “HELP” farm workers in CA. What they actually did was raise cost of human labor to the point where machines became cheaper.

Not a Trump Fan February 17, 2019 at 5:09 PM

OG, you obviously spend a lot of time finding stories to fit your narrative but around 60% of Americans don’t feel the southern border wall is an Emergency. Not even the Texans that live on that border. In fact, fixing the immigration laws and loopholes would do far more than a wall (that Mexico was supposed to pay for).
Here’s some things that, in my opinion, are more of an Emergency than that stupid wall:
1. Mass shootings/gun violence
2. Homelessness (many veterans)
3. Hunger in America
4. Climate Change (Trump is so stupid he still doesn’t get that global warming isn’t “fixed” because it’s so cold in certain places)
5. Helping mentally ill
6. Affordable/accessible/quality Healthcare

Rollo Tomasi February 18, 2019 at 9:10 AM

“OG, you obviously spend a lot of time finding stories to fit your narrative but around 60% of Americans don’t feel the southern border wall is an Emergency.”

Likely the same group that believes a man is a woman because he says so. No accounting for stupid science deniers.

Original G February 18, 2019 at 10:20 AM

The “National Emergency” is what’s happening in OUR country and to merely equate to a physical barrier is naive.

America is where criminals, in their own countries, come to hide out.

Rollo Tomasi … took no time at all to find those previous examples.
Merely need the initiative to find out what’s actually happening in our country rather than blindly accepting what liberal bobble head media spews.

A very brief sample from part of first page of press releases on
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement webpage.
Note, there are FORTY NINE additional pages of press releases.

“… (MS-13) gang member associated with the Los Angeles Crazy Salvatruchas clique and wanted in El Salvador was removed from the U.S. Friday by deportation officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO.)”

“Denver ICE officers deport Mexican fugitive wanted for premeditated homicide”
https://www.ice.gov/news/releases/denver-ice-officers-deport-mexican-fugitive-wanted-premeditated-homicide

A larger crisis is members of congress would rather serve their own interests (stuffing 2020 Census) and providing the mega rich one percent, who profit when wages paid Americans are held down by, illegal workers. Appears they care more about campaign contributions than they do the American people

Dr. Jellyfinger February 16, 2019 at 3:31 PM

Democrats need to cut the BS and pay attention to what the President said.

“We now have an actual humanitarian crisis on the borer that only underscores the need to drop the politics and fix our immigration system once and for all”

Who can argue with that?

Robles February 16, 2019 at 4:38 PM

Guess the only way to work to fix the (makeup) crisis and emergency is to fly to Mar-a-Lago and play a few rounds of golf. He could have stayed at the White House and played at his recently installed golf simulator if he was that concerned.

Mcgee February 16, 2019 at 5:14 PM

Had he only said that and walked away but he surrounded it with 10,000 words of nonsense. Perfect for a fool.

94517 February 16, 2019 at 6:06 PM

The radical left argument of no crisis and 5.7 billion for a wall is a waste of taxpayers money is laughable since when did they care about wasting taxpayers money? Yet they think wasting 100 billion plus a year to fund illegals at taxpayers expense is not a waste of taxpayers money.

Dr. Jellyfinger February 16, 2019 at 8:54 PM

That was a President Obama quote from 2014…. maybe I shoulda mentioned that.

amieollie February 16, 2019 at 9:03 PM

What is the “humanitarian crisis on the borer?” In that rambling, unhinged welter of incoherence that was his “speech,” it was hard to pick up and follow any thread of thought, so I guess I missed completely any mention of whatever a “borer” is and why I need to be shivering in my boots about it. A more troublesome thought: if he gets on the horn and announces that the North Koreans have just launched an intercontinental missile at Seattle, I’ll have to stop and think about whether to believe him or not. Sad.

HappyPappy February 16, 2019 at 10:57 PM

BADA BING!!!!!………… Well done, Dr. Jellyfinger.
Fooling the fools is it’s own reward.

Giddyup February 17, 2019 at 7:59 AM

The humanitarian crisis is the one that will befall the country’s legal citizens if illegal immigration is not addressed. The humanitarian crisis is the realization that taxpaying citizens of the United States cannot possibly afford to support the extensive social services promised and required by illegal immigrants, especially considering their robust reproductive tendencies. It will eventually take absolutely everything legal taxpaying citizens have, own, or ever hope to have or own, and eventually result in bankrupting the country. It will actually be cheaper to build a wall.

Fred P. February 17, 2019 at 8:13 AM

Well played, dr J!

NOw let’s pull up the quotes from the democrats in years past that claim there is/was a border crisis and we need a wall…. and watch the libs come unhinged AGAIN!

And they have the gall to call themselves “progressive.”

Whatta bunch of idiots.

Dr. Jellyfinger February 17, 2019 at 8:26 AM

Sorry amieollie… it was just a copy & paste of an Obama quote… I did not notice the typo, but just to make it clear for the Liberals, the word was (obviously) “Border” – that area that defines the boundaries between 2 different countries and is not to be crossed by citizens of those countries without first getting permission to do so.

Giddyup February 17, 2019 at 10:04 AM

@amieollie We really don’t expect liberals to understand real solutions to real problems when they have constructed their very own reality that defies logic and is opposed to every law of nature and human edict observed by mankind since time began

“I think it would be a profound mistake for the president of the United States to overturn American immigration law with the stroke of a pen. Issues of this magnitude should always be resolved with the consent of the governed. Signing an executive order, giving a speech, barnstorming around the country defending that executive order is not leadership.” — Governor Mike Pence, 2014

“Repubs must not allow Pres Obama to subvert the Constitution of the US for his own benefit & because he is unable to negotiate w/ Congress,” Donald Trump, Nov. 20, 2014

Trump said that Obama couldn’t make a deal — and so “now he has to use executive action, and this is a very, very dangerous thing that should be overridden easily by the Supreme Court.” He added: “We’re looking now at a situation that should absolutely not pass muster in terms of constitutionality” and argued that Obama “certainly could be impeached” for it.” Donald Trump on Fox and Friends, November 2014.

I guess there’s a few badas in our bing, too.

Last week, New York’s new green radical Congresswoman, AOC, derailed the Amazon deal.

AND, last week, another New York green scandal emerged. Governor Andrew Cuomo planned to save upstate New York by investing in “green technology”.

It was known as “the Buffalo Billion.”

Well-connected allies of the Governor raked in millions of dollars on failed solar projects. Little was produced in return. Multiple people are now going to jail in what is turning out to be more of an organized crime racket.

Meanwhile, New York revenue is dropping, as higher earning residents flee to Florida and other better managed states.

Could green work in California?

Remember Obama’s Solyndra fiasco?

AND, the bullet train fiasco?

For those of you who support the Democrats, remember this. They tend to eagerly fund powerfully backed green pet projects.

Green pet projects wrapped in disappearing green dollar bills, that is.

We should use ALL of our resources. Petroleum, Green, hydroelectric, nuclear, solar. Not so keen on thousands of acres of windmills. The eco nut / Democratic connection is very short sighted. Especially about artificially introducing tens of thousands of invaders from other ecosystems. All within a years time. Build that WALL.

Why are eco nuts and Democrats so keen on decimating the peaceful and hard working population that exists in California? Is it votes? I think a more accurate answer is exploiting a dependent population for money and power.

Not to worry. We can declare a national emergency and enact OACs green agenda. No Congress approval necessary.

Republicans have jumped the shark. Now they are the party of hypocrites. Laws do not apply to them. Trump hired illegals for Mar a Lago and many other businesses for decade after decade after decade. A GOP official in Iowa who housed and paid Mollie Tibbetts killer, and this woman. It’s time to tell the truth: Dems don’t need illegals to turn them in to voters. Reps need them for cheap labor. Yet in 2020 when a Democrat gets elected, you can be sure the Republicans will go back the family values and morality party that cares about pork barrel spending and the national debt.

Silva,

The City of Concord also likely has employed or likely currently does employ individuals that are illegal aliens.

On September 26, 2017 the Concord City Council adopted “Resolution No. 17-73 — A Resolution Affirming the City of Concord’s Commitment to being a Welcoming, Inclusive, Tolerant, and Supportive Community for All.”

In Section 2 of the Resolution it states the following: “It is our policy not to use the voluntary e-verify system to investigate or determine the work eligibility of applicants for City employment.”

When government will hire illegal aliens is it any wonders that businesses and individuals will do the same?

Hey y’all, how ’bout those crooked politicians who went out on a limb in supporting Smollett and blaming Trump supporters for that Smollett circus. They now must face reality that they were wrong – dead wrong.
And don’t we all know, politicians simply can’t be seen as being wrong about anything.
This is especially true when it comes to the issue of race and, to a lesser degree, sexual preference. There is only one right way to see these issues. Of course that means, blame whites for hating minorities and straight males for hating gays. Oh the horrors that a black, gay actor would try to put one over on them. Well that’s exactly what happened. Now your crooked candidates who came out rabidly supporting Jussie Smollett with NO evidence and loads of questions about the incident, have nothing to say.
Hmmmmm, imagine that!
In particular, three democrat presidential candidates made especially obtuse statements on the staged attack.
Incredibly, your fake news journalists are excusing these fake accusations and non-responses as acceptable, despite the colossal smear against their political opponents that was based on zero evidence.

That’s just how they roll, those democrat bottom feeders from the swamp.

How about they put in place penalties for those who fail to ensure existing laws are followed?

Original G, so liberals are to blame because an angry man with a .45 shot a bunch of people, five dead and another five wounded?

I really feel sorry for the young person who started his first day at the company and got shot dead. Poor kid. I’m sure his parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles would rather he were alive and home with them than lying dead in the morgue.

Our country has to get serious about preventing gunshot fatalities. As now they kill more Americans yearly than car crashes. That is absolutely crazy. It’s not a Democrat versus Republican thing. It’s an American thing — our lives, our childrens’ lives, our neighbors lives.

This madness where folks go postal and shoot people dead has got to stop. Somehow, some way. We need for it to stop.

The FBI profiles individuals who are likely to commit mass murder. They have a short list of the characteristics of individuals that commit this type of crime. They have a wealth of data to draw on, since mass shootings have been occurring for years.

It always would seem that the individual involved is troubled, or in some way presents with serious problems that are a signal they must be handled with caution. They may be socially outcast for one reason or another, difficult to get along with, have been bullied by others, or, as in this case, have a history with the legal system.

It would seem that quite possibly when that it the case, and the problems are known, individuals required to resolve issues involving them would take perhaps extraordinary steps to approach the situation in such a way as to mitigate the desire to retaliate.

For exampke, how much did the company he worked for know about his background? Had he been a problem employee consistently, or had his behavior suddenly changed to become disruptive? Did anyone from the company sit diwn and discuss with him the issues which led to his termination to shed light on what might be causing the problems? Was he offerred assistance in managing the issues interfering with his performance? Was he given a warning that his performance was being scrutinized with a view to reassignment or termination? And, so on.

Trump dismissed US intelligence on North Korea because Russian president Vladimir Putin had given him different advice. ‘The president said he did not believe that the North Koreans had the capability to hit us here with ballistic missiles in the United States … because President Putin had told him they did not.

According to Japan’s Asahi Shimbunnewspaper, Abe formally nominated Trump for the award for his efforts to make peace with North Korea following the historic summit in June between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. But Abe apparently only did so after receiving an “unofficial” request from the US government last fall.

An who didn’t see this high speed train wreck coming?

Blundering democrats running this state, who must have slept thru any economics classes they ever took, are now claiming lack of enforcement is cause for not meeting their over estimations of POT tax revenue.

STILL after Prop 64 passed,
“As much as 80% of the marijuana sold in California comes from the black market…” … “Analysts also found that California’s illicit pot market was valued at an estimated $3.7 billion last year, more than four times the size of the legal market.”
https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-gavin-newsom-crackdown-pot-black-market-20190219-story.html

Supporters of Prop 64 claimed if passed it would reduce law enforcement costs associated with POT. Now we are supposed to believe lack of enforcement against illegal POT is the reason for THEIR failure.

There is big money in POT, to pass Prop 64 supporters spent $31,013,416.87
https://ballotpedia.org/California_Proposition_64,_Marijuana_Legalization_(2016)

Per LA Times, governor silver spoon received $340,000 in campaign contributions from POT industry while running for governor.
So of course, expect CA to spend how ever many taxpayer dollars it takes to protect future campaign contributions to democrat politicians from CA’s legal POT industry.
.
An don’t be surprised if they spend more on enforcement than they did before Prop 64 passed.

Besides it’s just flat embarrassing when consumers following human nature buy the cheaper illegal POT instead of legal overpriced, because of taxes, CA legal POT.

One can only guess; probably much of the same stuff that happens at 65? On the positive, higher speed limits would surely make driving fun again,… at least, from my perspective, anyways. Today, driving offers very little in terms of excitement. The rules are nearly the same on an open road, with little to no traffic, as they are on congested freeways in urban areas. There should be some flexibility, depending on: road conditions, road type, population density, and geography. 100 mph on a long and open highway hardly seems or feels unsafe, especially in a modern car.

Tax returns show it spent 3.2 million in 2017, with over 1 million spent on salaries. The group was also banboozled in a wire transfer email scam and lost about $250,000.

Justifiable anger February 20, 2019 at 1:57 PM

Non profits use corporate salaries as a justification for exorbitant pay scale. Interesting: As a 501(c)(4) nonprofit, the group would not be required to disclose its donors. Don’t politicians have to publicize this as an act of transparency?

We definitely have a front row seat.

Speculation: The wire transfer scam-sounds fishy. Maybe one of the donors felt entitled and thus arranged a scam. This would be a fabulous way to skim money. Another oops, my bad moment.

The Trump administration canceled $929 million of our tax dollars marked for California’s Crazy Train folly and demanded the state pay back $2.5 billion in funds already wasted.
Gov Newsance says he’ll fight for the money, claiming it was California’s money and the administration’s move was politically motivated because the state is suing Trump over his emergency declaration. Duh?
Sane taxpayers disagree with the radical leftist governor about whose money he was squandering.
The Crazy Train folly has had repeated cost overruns and delays since ignorant California suckers approved it in 2008. The Trump administration showed that the state hasn’t provided required matching dollars and, due to the usual incompetent management, can’t complete certain construction work by the 2022 deadline.
The Department of Transportation is seeking ways to reclaim the money and vows to use every legal means to get it back.
The 2010 grant agreement between CA and the federal government outlines several scenarios in which the federal government could take back the money; if the incompetent fools fail to make “adequate progress” or “fail to complete the project or one of its tasks” or if the state doesn’t meet its matching fund requirements.
The federal government doesn’t have to wait for California to write a check. The agreement states the federal government could offset the money it would pay California for different transportation or other projects.
Gov Newsance is bluffing like a toothless hound dog.
I await the CA bankruptcy.

mtzman….please explain to us again how you were absolutely positive that kid wearing the MAGA hat was trying to intimidate that poor native American guy beating his drum and start a riot.
You claimed that your experience as a teacher provided you with the expert ability to know what the kid was doing just by the expression on his face.

mtzman February 22, 2019 at 1:20 AM

Of course, that’s not what I said at all, but I still don’t buy the kid’s claim to altruism. I based my conclusion then on the totality of the circumstances as I saw them — the smirk, the other kids egging him on, the fact that Phillips was not among the ones creating the disturbance and was attempting to leave the area, the school’s reputation, to name a few — but what I found most compelling was the fact that the kid never told Phillips what he was up to. And then they bring in a Republican PR firm to handle the narrative, and now a $250 million lawsuit against the deep pocket, which just seals the deal for me.

I asked you almost a month ago to show me where I got anything wrong and, as usual, neither you nor any of the other dimwit brain trust contingent were able to come up with anything other than personal attacks on me.

Giddyup February 22, 2019 at 8:11 AM

@mtzman You saw what you wanted to see … what fit your narrative. I saw a young man with a patient, loving smile on his face, not a smirk. Phillips has stated he was trying to diffuse the situation which erupted when a group of black Hebrew Israelites began taunting the Catholic students because they were wearing #MAGA hats. He was not trying to leave the area, nor was he blocked by the young man,

I believe several people answered you a month ago, but you didn’t reply and now, just like your colleagues and liberal left miscreants, ,resort to insults because of your own failure in retrieving the replies.

HappyPappy February 22, 2019 at 8:39 AM

mtzman,
The risk of a mistake didn’t seem to matter to you, because the uncorroborated and unverified delusion of a Trump-supporter berating another human being was simply worth more than the negative and devastating impact the story would have on Sandmann’s life, even if it wasn’t true. You’re just one more radical leftist bully who doesn’t give a damn about who you hurt and destroy.
Say what you will, but there’s no defense for your behavior.
Thanks for the laugh!

Fred P. February 22, 2019 at 10:21 AM

Mtzman is a “teacher”? That explains a lot about what’s wrong with California. Obviously, most parents and schools do not teach or encourage critical and objective thinking.

Was probably part of the strike in Oakland.

Yes, there are good teachers. But claiming to be a teacher will NOT automatically place you on a pedestal. Teaching facts and critical thinking is one thing; pushing your opinions is another.

I’m sure everyone here would LOVE to know your real name Andrew school at which you “teach”, so they can yank their kids out of your “class.”

Have you noticed that, according to various polls, California ranks in the bottom half of the state w/ respect to HS graduations …. anywhere from #26 on to #49. And blaming it on a lack of funds is a classic liberal effort to try to shift blame.

Look it up, cupcake.

Of course – mtzman saw what he wanted to see. And apparently, being a “teacher” is supposed to lend credence to that claim.

And that’s all based on a video.

Critical thinking ? I don’t think so.

@mtzman:
“the fact that Phillips was not among the ones creating the disturbance and was attempting to leave the area,”

You mean the CLAIM? And if you accept his claim at face value, in spite of his dubious at best claims regarding his military service, why can’t you accept the students’ claim of altruism in spite of whatever you CLAIM is the school’s “reputation”? Can you comment on Phillip’s claim that his intent was to diffuse a situation, then the best method his adult mind could conceive was to approach the kids (shown clearly on video) and bang his drum within a couple feet of the kid’s face? Why wouldn’t he approach the much smaller group of black hebrews who were clearly the instigators (also shown clearly on video)?

You think Sandman’s facial expression was damning? Well, by that standard we should remove the likeness of that smirking bi*ch Mona Lisa from it’s place of honor in Le Louvre. It’s clearly disrespectful to somebody…

Anyone who believed Smollett’s story from the outset has the intelligence of a saltine.

Obama’s “Brother’s Keeper” tour held in San Francisco recently and attended by a number of celebrities was completely overshadowed in the media by the Jussie Smollett fiasco. But, that’s San Francisco for you.

As it turns out, two of Smollett’s sisters worked for Obama when he was campaigning for President, and Smollett gained some measure of his fleeting fame dancing in a video that went viral with a funked-up Michelle Obama.

If Trayvon Martin could be Barack Obama’s son, a sentiment Obama reiterated at the Brother”s Keeper get together, certainly Obama would be proud to claim the likes of Jussie Smollett, too.

It would appear also that the truth is as irrelevant to Smollett, as Obama’s attempts to remain newsworthy since leaving office. Smollett gave his brother’s name when stopped by LA police and was later charged with DUI, among other things. What a guy!

Meanwhile, Obama can’t get his Chicago “Presidential Center,” off the ground, either. The site chosen is in violation of statutes dating to the 1800’s which don’t permit private development in public parks. Just a minor affront to the city’s taxpayers who bought, paid for, and maintain the park.

President of Sudan declares “State of Emergency”. I guess the U.S. has now officially sunk to the worst of the third world. Same tactics from ego inflated so called leaders that are most interested in protecting their cash and serving their masters. Sad.

LOL!

he lied about racism in America to get a better paycheck. wow, what WON’T liberals do to get stuff? i guess nothing. and in Chicago of all places, where crime is a huge problem wasting the police’s time with this fantasy of his. must be a snowflake thinking that the world is out get him and the media bought it. he should face real jail time after all it appears he lied about the letter he got, might have sent it to himself. and he also was charged with filing a false police report back in 2007!
