CoCo D.A.: Martinez Man Found Guilty Of Trying To Meet Minor For Sex

A Contra Costa County jury on Feb.8 found defendant William Butte of Martinez guilty as charged of three felonies, including his attempt to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

Butte communicated with who he thought was a minor on the mobile application Kik on August 24, 2017. Butte interacted with an undercover law enforcement officer after he posted a sexually explicit post on Craigslist, which contained language suggesting an interest in minors, the D.A.’s Office said.

The undercover officer saw Butte’s Craigslist post in the now-defunct casual encounters section, in which Butte asked for a “naughty little girl” to engage in sex acts with him.

During the conversation on Kik, Butte discussed meeting with the minor in-person, shared graphic details of sexual acts and he expressed a desire to have sex with the minor.

When the undercover officer told Butte that he was a 15-year-old girl, Butte reacted favorably and asked questions about her sexual experience and history. Butte also invited the minor to his home to watch pornography together.

Butte and the officer discussed meeting in a public place. Upon Butte’s arrival to that agreed upon location, he was subsequently taken into custody and arrested.

The guilty counts against Butte found by the jury are as follows:

  • Count 1, Meeting Minor for Lewd Purposes
  • Count 2, Attempted Lewd Act Upon A Child
  • Count 3, Sending Harmful Matter to a Minor

Butte will be required to register as a sex offender. Sentencing will occur on April 12, 2019.

Registered sex offenders (especially with 3 counts of child molesting) should be automatically chemically castrated. Garantee most nasty ass old men will keep their hands to themselves.

How so? Do they castrate their hands?

There is no clinical or medical cure for a person who takes advantage of and harms children.

That includes lawmakers who legalize and support the horrors of….like the politicians in NY and NM.

The best thing to do with people who would harm children in any way is to let them push up daisies.

Thanks for the post. One minor typo, which I admit do a lot too due to the keyboard layout

Throw the book at him! Our society needs to be harder on child predators! Our kids should be able to be safe in our community and play outside like older generations did.

Society should be harder on child predators; however, under Proposition 57 Any person convicted of a nonviolent felony offense and sentenced to state prison shall be eligible for parole consideration after completing the full term for his or her primary offense… he will be eligible for early release.

what’s the matter with these people don’t they know they should go to a third world country if they want to have sex with a minor.

Where were you all when the priest was accused of the same crime? It doesn’t seem to outrage you all when it’s a member of the clergy. What a double standard.

So the undercover officer was a minor? How could the jury find for counts 1 and 3 unless this was proven beyond a reasonable doubt? I guess that there is more to the law than implied by the title of those counts.

Sex pervs should be treated like hardened criminals.

DVC Student February 12, 2019 at 6:03 PM

-Hi I’m Chris Hansen from Dateline NBC. Why don’t you come have a seat?

DVC Student February 12, 2019 at 6:05 PM

I appreciate the outrage, but why don’t you get outraged when another Priest is found guilty of raping an 8 y/o boy in the back of the church?

Why do you give them a free pass?

Now you’re just making things up.

Same thing with child pornography…….it’s always Crickets when you ask that they take down the ones who are creating and uploading it. ( All of it is Traceable ).
