Get Rid of Trump…..he lies everyday…and he wants attention.

He should release his income tax returns …..no excuses….what a STUPID President he is!!

Darwin January 5, 2019 at 9:07 AM

TRUMP!!!! 🇺🇸
No more sanctuary state. It rewards people for negative behavior. If I get to California I get to stay!! What message is that sending???Something liberals can’t understand and it’s called accountability. You should not get rewarded for negative behavior.
Everyone is PRO- immigration, just come here legally. Is that too much to ask??? Liberals think so. One of the few things I like about President Trump is that he has the liberals in a tizzzy 😊

Jim R January 5, 2019 at 4:49 PM

Darwin, you are confusing sanctuary laws with the idea that sanctuary shields you from being arrested.

Darwin January 5, 2019 at 9:15 PM

@ Jim R
The sanctuary laws keep people who have come here illegally from getting deported ( rewarding for negative behavior), even though they have had several felony convictions. Oh Jimmy, see no confusion.

mtzman January 5, 2019 at 11:02 PM

@Darwin, you may not be confused but you are just plain flat out wrong.

Giddyup January 6, 2019 at 10:20 AM

Sanctuary status protects those who have entered the country illegally from prosecution and deportation. That is its sole purpose. It encourages them to report crimes in their community without fear of being deported because of their illegal alien status. As Darwin says, it not only permits law breakers, it encourages them by rewarding those who have broken our laws entering the country illegally. Once a cheater, always a cheater. How many cop killers do we have to let in before the light bulb comes on over liberals heads?

The process to immigrate legally is long and arduous and those who do so show remarkabke committment to the process. They must complete a number of closely prescribed steps, and it is expensive. But one can be assured they will make exceptional citizens . Contrast that difficult process with those who pay criminals to sneek them across the border for whatever reason, illegally entering the country. Listen to their demands to enter and their threats that they will whether it is illegal or not, and you get some sense of how much respect they have for the citizens of this country. It is not surprising that they present like a hostile, angry invading mob, because that is what they are.

Why are they entering illegally? There could be a number of reasons. Perhaps they could not pass the strenuous demands placed on those who enter legally. Perhaps they have criminal convictions. Perhaps they have been previously deported. What orher undesireable characteristucs do they possess that make them unacceptabke candidates for legal immigration? They can’t follow prescribed law for obe. These are the reasons they must be turned away. We don’t need any more people who are lawbreakers. We have enough. We don’t need anymore cheaters. We have enough. We don’t need anymore people trampling our rights because we’re “in the way” of their shortcut. They add nothing to society and are a burden and expense to us all.

Darwin January 6, 2019 at 10:55 AM

@mtzman
What part of what I wrote was incorrect??? You may be in denial.

Jim R January 6, 2019 at 11:07 PM

Darwin-You said “If I get to California I get to stay!”, and “The sanctuary laws keep people who have come here illegally from getting deported”. Those are both factually incorrect.

How illegals don’t add to the economy.
In fact, illegal immigration costs taxpayers a staggering $134.9 billion a year while contributing only $19 billion in state, federal, and local taxes. At the federal level, medical costs make up the lion’s share of government expenditures on illegal immigrants, while education is the largest single expense that illegal immigration imposes on state and local governments.

mtzman January 5, 2019 at 2:10 PM

That number has been debunked so many times it would be laughable were it not for the Trumpian lemmings who actually believe this load of manure.

May take six months to a year for democrats of the House of Representatives to work thru childish posturing and performing for their base.

US Senate was created to act as a stupid filter. Impeachment might make it thru the House but will die in the Senate as will inane bills passed by the House.

Meantime stock up on popcorn and watch the fun as lost cause Ocasio-Cortez will probably out ‘airhead’ both pelosi and MAD maxine for the next two years. Liberal voters deserve these three.

Robles January 5, 2019 at 3:04 PM

Quick, lets build a Southern Border wall because that’s how they are clearly infiltrating the USA.

The Fearless Spectator January 5, 2019 at 3:48 PM

If they really want to build the wall:

Award the building contract to a construction company interested in becoming publicly traded. Squeeze the banks for discounted underwriting services in exchange for revolving credit opportunties. Next offer IPO shares of stock to Pelosi and her affiliates.

Sign a long term contract with PlumpJack Group to provide food, beverage, and hospitality services to affiliates involved during construction. This will provide Mr. Newsom with years of additional income.

This is obviously an absurd and illegal scenario. However to get things done with politicians you have to appeal to the larceny in their hearts which is substantive.

“The Bible is the one supreme source of revelation of the meaning of life, the nature of God, and spiritual nature and needs of men. It is the only guide of life which really leads the spirit in the way of peace and salvation. America was born a Christian nation. America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness which are derived from the revelations of Holy Scripture.” – Woodrow Wilson, Twenty eighth President

Hope Johnson January 6, 2019 at 1:42 PM

The US is a nation founded on the rule of law precisely so the minority will not be denied religious freedom by the majority.

“In this enlightened age and in this land of equal liberty, it is our boast, that a man’s religious tenets will not forfeit the protection of the laws, nor deprive him of the right of attaining and holding the highest offices that are known in the United States.” George Washington 1793

“[T]hat the opinions of men are not the object of civil government, nor under its jurisdiction; that to suffer the civil magistrate to intrude his powers into the field of opinion and to restrain the profession or propagation of principles on supposition of their ill tendency is a dangerous fallacy, which at once destroys all religious liberty.” Thomas Jefferson, 1779

In other words, it was intended that no one is required to abide by your particular religious beliefs and we are not required to adhere to your belief that only Christians have the ability to behave ethically.

MY, My, my, . . . have patience, for in a few years governor Silver Spoon and state legislature will likely have put into place a CA health plan. Which within a decade or so after it’s imposition will be well on it’s way in accomplishing two things, decimating the quality of healthcare and bankrupting the state.

Back in 2017 CA Senate Bill 562 was pulled,
Analysis of the bill put yearly cost at $400 billion.

Must remember Silver Spoon comes from tax rich San Francisco, where they throw their almost limitless tax dollars at every problem. Many of which are product of their progressive liberal socialist nanny state governance.

And I’m sure you remember the time Dick Cheney told Senator Leahy to F off on the floor of the Senate.

You see, we liberals are proud of the fact that we honor and respect the truth, we reject hypocrisy, we’re not idiot enough to fall for the stupid wall, and, in any event, we don’t feel the need for a bloody war.

I come from a long line of law enforcement, with family members currently serving agencies in California, Oregon, Kansas, Alabama, and military police in Italy/Africa. One died in the 1960s while serving with the LAPD and another recently IOD and forced to retire. And while I have not worn a badge myself, I have spent many hours on ride-alongs with several agencies, was POST certified (PC 832), and have worked on a regular basis with local agencies on a variety of matters, from sexual assaults to drug possession to weapon possession, and even on cyber theft. I practiced law for many years before I retired and I know my way around a courtroom, the Penal Code and the Constitution. I have first-hand and personal knowledge that it is possible to be both liberal AND supportive of law enforcement.

I, for one, do not blame law enforcement but the simple fact is that the state sanctuary laws had absolutely nothing to do with the officer’s death, and you know it, or at least if you really are a retired LEO, you should know it.

Giddyup January 7, 2019 at 1:48 AM

Immigration needs to benefit America by attracting qualified persons who will not be criminally predatory or a perpetual drain upon society.

How about mandatory E-verify for every person working in the USA?

Cheap labor so campaign contributors to democrats can maximize profits, no thanks.

Progressive liberals back in the 60s and 70s decided to “HELP” the poor farm workers. What followed were regulations, Laws and governmental red tape which all served to raise the cost per hour for that unskilled labor. In so doing automation became cheaper.

Rollo, I assume you jest. Neither type of immigration bothers me. No hate, no fear, immigrants are welcome here!
og,facts don’t support your fears. Immigrant communities are less likely to have crime problems and while there are greater costs associated with initial time periods you are going to have to get a little more specific about a ‘perpetual drain’, Asylum seekers show at their court hearings at over 90% attendance. I’ve got no problem with e-verify, how about criminal penalties for ‘job creators’ that hire undocumented workers? Conflating automation and attempts to make a workplace safer is ridiculous. Automation is coming everywhere, it is just easier to start with simpler tasks.

Good to know. I’ll assume I have your support when when I convert my AR-15 to fully automatic. After all, there’s really no distinction between the two, and it’s just a silly federal law anyway.

Jim R January 7, 2019 at 1:19 PM

I’m not condoning cheating but why is it that you care so much about Newsom’s behavior but turn a blind eye to your beloved Trump? And this is also true for DJ Jr. who is a POS wife cheater and has slicked back hair?!?

Giddyup January 6, 2019 at 10:46 PM

Greaseball was holding public office when he cheated on his wife. Trump was not. Greaseball’s paramour was granted leave as a result at taxpayers expense. Trump’s wasn’t. The difference is that liberals like to drag their immorality out for all the world to see, and parade it in front of everybody while they are on the public dime. It’s their badge of honor and their “up yours” to the indebtedness they feel to their supporters.

But, moral people everywhere will have the last laugh. One day Greaseball’s children (the ones he is trying so hard to impress) will grow up to find out what a terribke human being he was and how dishonorably he behaved towards his best friend, his best friend’s wife, and the very first woman he ever promised to love, honor, and obey. They will wonder the rest of their lives if he really loved their mother and if he cheated on her, and nothing he says will convince them otherwise. In other words, they’ll discover what a miserable cad he really is.

Just watched Acting Chief of Staff Mulvaney try to explain (spin) a statement he made about Obama when he took Executive Actions on immigration. In 2014 GOP Congressman Mulvaney said “This country is governed by the rule of law, not the rule of one man. The President’s excuse – that Congress hasn’t acted is pathetic and insulting. His party had complete and total control of the White House, Senate and House of Representatives for 2 solid years, and completely ignored immigration reform.” Of course Mulvaney said Trumps 2 years of total GOP control is different.

The hypocrisy and indignation by the GOP would be laughable if it wasn’t so sad. The last 6 years of Obama’s administration was all about GOP obstructionism. It’s very rich that Trump thinks the DEMs started this. Can anybody say Merritt Garland? #StolenScotusSeat

mtzman January 8, 2019 at 1:02 AM

Quick question, Doc: if those undocumented Democrats are so good at sneaking in by way of the southern border, why are so many states along the southern border predominantly red states?

Dr. Jellyfinger . . . Thought you were kidding, they are actually going to let her on nation wide TV. Hope they make her take a nap before she goes on.

mtzman . . . Perhaps it is because residents of Border states have seen first hand problems caused by as you call them “undocumented Democrats” and they want it stopped.

mtzman January 8, 2019 at 11:27 PM

@OG, first of all, I did not come up with undocumented Democrats; that was the brainchild of Dr. J.

Much more importantly, your response seems to confirm that the red states like Texas and Arizona have NOT been overrun.

Chicken Little January 9, 2019 at 4:07 AM

@mtzman,
Texas and Arizona are still red because the illegals (or Unregistered Democrats) who enter there keep on truckin’ to California, where we give them free stuff.

mtzman January 9, 2019 at 9:14 AM

So, CL, what you’re saying is, we also need a wall on California’s eastern border?

Chicken Little January 9, 2019 at 3:05 PM

mm,
Stop being obtuse. If we put up a wall and keep illegals from crossing the southern borders of Texas and Arizona, we won’t need to worry about them heading east to California.

Alternatively, we could stop rewarding illegals for coming to California, but Democrats would rather keep sweetening the pot and protecting illegals from deportation.

mtzman January 9, 2019 at 4:10 PM

Not trying to be obtuse but I can’t get that scene out of my head in Blazing Saddles where they all have to go through a toll booth in the middle of nowhere. Makes about as much sense as that stupid wall, only a lot funnier.

Original G January 9, 2019 at 9:50 AM

Democratic national convention in 2016 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia was held behind fencing. They only wanted those who were authorized to be there inside their fence, too bad they don’t feel that way about OUR country.

https://wjla.com/news/nation-world/outside-the-perimeter-sanders-work-to-make-their-voices-heard

mtzman January 9, 2019 at 2:07 PM

So are we going to hear endless revelations about the existence of fences? Yes, fences can be good in appropriate situations.

I will admit it: I have a fence around my back yard. But its primary purpose is to keep the dog in, not keep undesirable people, drugs, gangs, or weapons out. It is 6 feet tall cedar at its highest point, it didn’t take years to build, it didn’t cost billions upon billions of dollars, it won’t cost billions more to maintain, and, most important, the dog has never gotten out. The cats, however, well that’s a different story altogether …

Original G January 9, 2019 at 2:11 PM

“… not keep undesirable people, drugs, gangs, or weapons out.”

What if those people with those things wanted in to your backyard?

mtzman January 10, 2019 at 2:30 AM

RT, in the 22 years we’ve lived here, we haven’t had a whole lot of trouble with undesirables, drugs, gangs or weapons, but if we ever do, I suspect I’d call 911, And we also have a home security system, with cameras, lights, and alarms, which is a whole lot cheaper and a lot more effective.

And therein lies the rub. No system will ever be perfect, but I am quite comfortable with the system I researched, planned and implemented quickly in a cost-effective manner. Trump has done none of these things. A concrete wall has now become a much more expensive steel barrier, but we really don’t know the true cost of the wall because there does not appear to be any detailed plans in place, hence the huge range of estimates, all of which are considerably higher than the $5.7 billion Trump is demanding, not to mention the massive additional costs of transporting steel.

And for those of you wanting to build that wall right now, keep in mind that Trump signed Executive Order 13767, directing immediate construction on January 25, 2017 and despite having control over both houses of Congress since that time, has managed to accomplish zilch.

Silva January 10, 2019 at 10:16 AM

Failure to come up with immigration system that works is endangering people especially children. Career politicians of previous Congresses and three previous Presidents failed, likely because of campaign contributions from companies and mega wealthy who make larger profits by exploiting illegals.

“Border authorities are referring 50 people a day for urgent medical care, including tuberculosis, flu and even pregnant women about to give birth,” …

“Most of those in need of care are children, and a staggering 28 percent are under age 5, having been dragged along for the trip by parents who in many cases are hoping to use the children as a shield against speedy deportation from the U.S”
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/dec/31/number-sick-kids-soars-border/

For an example, cost to treat drug resistant tuberculosis is staggering.
Moderate drug resistant tuberculosis $164,000
Extreme drug resistant tuberculosis $526,000

Right wing pensioners are SEVEN TIMES more likely to spread fake news than millennials, claim scientists

Republicans aged 65 and over shared seven times more fake new articles during the US 2016 election than people aged between 18 and 29. Ninety per cent of people did not share fake news but, of those who did, nearly a fifth (18 per cent) held right-wing beliefs and were of state-pension age, a study found. Only four per cent of democrats shared links to fake news sites. Each person of this age group shared 0.75 fake news articles on average, seven times more than millennials. Authors of the study from Princeton University say the findings show the need for more education of ‘vulnerable subgroups’ about fake news. https://tinyurl.com/y9breq55

President of US chamber of commerce claimed today US is out of workers.
Perhaps would be more accurate that businesses will have to become more efficient and pay up for US workers.

For decades companies have encouraged cheap labor via a broken immigration system or have exploited worker visa system rather than partnering with educational system to train up American workers.

It’s time to concentrate on improving the skill set of US workers so they can move towards living wage jobs. The natural course of supply and demand rather than government screwing things up with wage mandates.

As we’ve already seen with agricultural workers when cost of labor is greater than cost of automation, innovators design and build machines to take the place of low skilled labor. Granted there are jobs which can not be easily automated and in those cases business will end up raising wages to attract workers.

Fred P. January 10, 2019 at 9:51 AM

Randy – How does a “28.1 rating” translate to “over 70% of this country tuning out POTUS?” And how is your question of “it couldn’t be lower” derived, based on your quote of “28.1 rating?”

And did you bother checking out other websites, besides the one site that provided your “28.1 rating?” Obviously not, because that was one (left-wing) site that supported your belief. In other words, you’re guilty of cherry picking statistics that support your opinion and don’t bother to look objectively at the facts. I can find polls that range from less than 20% to over 80% favorable……but that doesn’t mean a damn thing.

You knowledge of statistics, polling and cause/effect is slightly less than my dog’s knowledge of the subjects. And it appears your command of the English language – including grammar – is even less.

You might want to think before you type (ie, ramble)….

“Here are some of the steel slats that the president’s been talking about,” … “But as we’re walking along here, we’re not seeing any kind of imminent danger.” … “There are no migrants trying to rush toward this fence.” …
“no sign of the national emergency that the president has been talking about”

Those crossing the Border, bringing in drugs etc. are going to where the walls are not and crossing there. The Secure Fence Act of 2006

The Secure Fence Act of 2006, which was passed by a Republican Congress and signed by President George W. Bush, authorized about 700 miles of fencing along certain stretches of land between the border of the United States and Mexico.

The act also authorized the use of more vehicle barriers, checkpoints and lighting to curb illegal immigration, and the use of advanced technology such as satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles.

At the time the act was being considered, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Chuck Schumer were all members of the Senate.

Obama, Clinton, Schumer and 23 other Democratic senators voted in favor of the act when it passed in the Senate by a vote of 80 to 19.

At that time, they were DEMANDING the wall.

Well, a wheel is older than a wall,” Trump said, though the earliest known border wall is actually thousands of years older than the wheel. “And I looked, and every single car out there, even the really expensive ones that the Secret Service uses — and believe me they are expensive — I said, ‘Do they all have wheels?’ ‘Yes.’ ‘Oh. I thought it was medieval.’”

He continued: “The wheel is older than the wall. You know that? There are some things that work. A wheel works and a wall works.”
