UPDATE: Suspect Fatally Shot After Shooting At Deputy During Struggle

December 5, 2018 15:38 pm · 41 comments

A Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a 41-year-old Discovery Bay man who had fired a shot at him after a foot pursuit led to a struggle between the two in unincorporated Pacheco this morning, sheriff’s officials said.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., two deputies were finishing up a response to a call on Adelaide Drive and as one left the area, he noticed a man with an outstanding warrant on foot in the area of Adelaide Drive and Pacheco
Boulevard, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deputy went to contact the man, who reached into his waistband while running away, leading to a foot pursuit. The deputy commanded the man to show his hands and tried to physically control him, sheriff’s officials
said.

During the struggle, the suspect pulled out a firearm from his waistband and fired a shot toward the deputy’s head but missed. The deputy returned fire, shooting the suspect. Fire and ambulance crews responded but
he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, whose name is not yet being released, is an alleged gang member who had a no-bail warrant for evading and resisting arrest in another county and also had multiple prior contacts with law enforcement for assault, theft and weapon and drug offenses, according to the sheriff’s office.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (925) 313-2600. Any tips can be sent to tips@so.cccounty.us or by calling (866) 846-3592.

God bless the deputy!

“had multiple prior contacts with law enforcement for assault, theft and weapon and drug offenses”

Have to remember this is CA where liberals believe in ” FREE RANGE ”
for both chickens and criminals.

Law Dog December 5, 2018 at 5:22 PM

Thanks officer, nice job, glad you are ok.

Glen December 5, 2018 at 5:23 PM

i knew dude.he wasnt a gangster…police did the right thing when they seen a weapon, but really?what gang was he in?theres a lot of holes in the story…
so he missed the cop at point blank range?really?then what, did he drop his gun?because most people would have emptied the clip ,JUST LIKE THE COP DID

Skull December 5, 2018 at 7:19 PM

Well Makehim.
Like everybody else you were not
At the scene.
You have no clue if he emptied his magazine.

anon December 5, 2018 at 8:07 PM

He was a felon with a gun. I think all felons with guns should be killed.

Anonymous December 5, 2018 at 8:35 PM

Make him look…

Tell us dude, what is his name?

Talk about a story full of holes. You win the prize.

LimeRidge Larry December 5, 2018 at 8:40 PM

Makehim……

Boy you are a special kind of special. As those in the south say, “bless your heart”.

DJ December 5, 2018 at 9:55 PM

The gang you didn’t know about,

Sign from Above December 6, 2018 at 7:20 AM

“I knew dude”, “when they seen a weapon”, and making statements about things he doesn’t have a clue about, like the cop emptying his clip. Yes….very credible post!

Keep it Real! December 5, 2018 at 6:58 PM

After his name is released, the children’s books written by this guy are available on Amazon! Just in time for the holidays!

Liveinmartinez December 5, 2018 at 9:02 PM

Sounds like suicide by cop. What did the dumb ass think was going to happen shooting at a cop? Anybody crazy enough to shoot at a cop is better off dead. The guy sounds like a loser in life with absolutely nothing useful to contribute to society.

As the saying goes: play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

anon December 6, 2018 at 7:10 AM

“Sounds like suicide by cop.”
No..Mensa member – he was trying to kill the Deputy
how hard is this to understand..he did not want to go back to prison
one for the good guys

Mr. Pink December 5, 2018 at 9:04 PM

One less POS to worry about. No loss.

Supportourpolice December 5, 2018 at 10:07 PM

Too. Many. Guns.

Nope! December 6, 2018 at 6:01 AM

No. Not enough guns in the hands of honest people.

PO'd December 6, 2018 at 8:29 AM

Too many guns in the hands of people that shouldn’t have them. He is a loser, a gang banger with a gun firing on the Police.
Glad he was terminated. Glad he missed the officer. Glad he won’t cost the taxpayers anymore with expensive incarceration.

Trailer_Joe December 6, 2018 at 11:13 AM

No there’s just too many people like you that mistake drug addiction/mental illness problems for a gun problem. Majority of us legally posses firearms and will only use them it if needed. This crazy tweeker obviously chose his path. Glad there’s one less loser on the streets, wish there were more heart warming stories like this in the news. 💙😤☠️

Diablo December 5, 2018 at 10:19 PM

Good Riddance Scumbag!

Reload December 6, 2018 at 7:44 AM

One bullet, problem solved.

YourMom December 6, 2018 at 9:12 AM

I saw his girlfriend on the news whining about what a great guy he was. *eye roll*

Kat December 6, 2018 at 10:37 AM

Hello all, I don’t know the cop and I don’t know the guy that died and I don’t know what really happened, none of us do except for the please officer still alive who shot to man. What strikes me most about all of the comments on this is the callousness. This is not supposed to be entertainment.
Human being lost his life. Another human being took that life. Realize that analysis of all the facts and what really happened have to play out. Just makes me sad, you know?

chuckie the troll December 6, 2018 at 11:38 AM

With THAT rap sheet, why wasn’t he already in custody? At least we don’t have to worry about ‘early release’ leading to more crime in this case. And just imagine how much his demise will save us over the next 40 years!

Had to say it December 6, 2018 at 4:30 PM

Welcome to CA

uh huhhhhh December 6, 2018 at 7:33 PM

He didn’t want to go back to jail and as for his tweaker girlfriend, oh, ya right, He was a good guy getting his life together. Guess what Angelica, you are as much trash as he was.
