Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) will be offering free adoptions of all available animals beginning today until Saturday, Dec.15 as part of their Home for the Holidays adoption promotion. Interested adopters can take advantage of this free adoption promotion by visiting CCAS’ Martinez and Pinole adoption centers to meet the animals and adopt their new family member. Animals available for adoption can be viewed at

“The holiday season is about spreading love and joy, and what better way to find love and joy than providing a loving home to a pet in need” said Steve Burdo, Community and Media Relations Manager for Contra Costa Animal Services. “ Whether you’ve been thinking about adopting, or you’re looking for the perfect gift for a family member, Adopting a pet from CCAS is most truly the gift that keeps on giving.”

The free adoption promotion does not include the cost of licensing and any refundable deposits for surgery.

Oh, bless all the little creatures. I wish we could adopt more.

The ASPCA recommends that a pet should only be given as a gift to someone who has “expressed a sustained interest” in having a pet and who has “the ability to care for the pet”. An animal shouldn’t be adopted on a whim, or as a novelty.

We just adopted our sweet Mila yesterday from Martinez! We bring her home Saturday after she is spayed on Friday.

Total cost for licensing, registration , spay, etc was $20 just for the licensing with the free adoption promotion.

They also give you a list of vets that will do a free health exam the first three days you own your new pet. Along with discount coupons to pet stores for new gear for your new friend.

We are planning on doing the 5 week training course for just $75 for adopted pets.

We had a hard time choosing there were so many cute loving animals in there! Go check it out. You’ll fall in love!

Like someone noted, although free, pets are a big responsibility. The money saved on fees, consider putting that in a money jar for good bed and toys for your buddies. Remember you will be with this pet till death do you part. That’s something no parent wants to tell little devin, but I’m here yet you Know kindly. I love these animals and I love you too.
