The “Water Cooler” is a feature on where we ask you a question or provide a topic, and you talk about it.

The “Water Cooler” will be up Monday-Friday at noon.

Today’s question:

Do you buy Christmas gifts for your animals?

Talk about it.

LOL! I did when I was younger, and the kids and animals got stockings.

Simonpure December 4, 2018 at 12:26 PM

Not really but I buy them gifts all year long. Mostly treats as they are rather old now and don’t play much anymore. Just bought them new bedding last weekend.

The Mamba December 4, 2018 at 12:26 PM

I do get them a little treat or rawhide bone, this year will be missing my pup who passed though, and trying to keep the other guy happy.

TraumaRx December 4, 2018 at 12:27 PM

Absolutely not. Animals aren’t human. And they shouldn’t be dressed up in ridiculous costumes either.

Lovelace December 4, 2018 at 3:39 PM

What if it’s a seatbelt costume?

Boomer December 4, 2018 at 6:59 PM

Animals are more human than you think take a look around you.

TraumaRx December 4, 2018 at 7:15 PM

Animals are animals and should be cared for as animals not humans.

TJ December 5, 2018 at 8:09 AM

TraumaRx – send me a photo of you so I can show it to my dog and remind him to chase you

ME December 4, 2018 at 12:35 PM

Of course.
As a child and as an adult the traditional dog gift was a large beef bone from the grocery store. Sadly a bunch of fools ruined it for the dogs. Most stores won’t sell the whole bones anymore because too many people were trying to cut them at home and slicing off fingers. Now they are only sold pre-cut. –I say if you’re dumb enough to do that, then you deserve to lose your fingers. Poor dogs! They are smarter than you, they can be trusted with whole bones while you can not.

Mamousee December 4, 2018 at 12:36 PM

Of course….and my grand animals too!

S December 4, 2018 at 12:37 PM

Yes…… Chew toy! Keeps the dog occupied and out of the wrapping paper trash pile…. Dog gets to open present first………

Cbw December 4, 2018 at 12:38 PM

Yes. Just a bag of treats or a new collar..stuff he’d get anyway but wrapped up and under the tree.

martinezmike December 4, 2018 at 1:18 PM

Of course. All their presents are wrapped in banana leaves.

Ricardoh December 4, 2018 at 3:01 PM

Banana leaves are OK just don’t give them a present in a styrofoam container.

Concorejet December 4, 2018 at 1:27 PM

yes we did it for our dog before she passed away years ago

SF oh December 4, 2018 at 2:01 PM

Yes – got my cat a little scratching post. She’s part of the family.

SF oh December 4, 2018 at 2:04 PM

The pets often show more enthusiasm than the humans, so heck yeah! 🙂

Rubyvee December 5, 2018 at 8:03 AM

Sure do, pets show more enthusiasm, unconditional love, are sooo excited every time I walk through my front door, somehow know when I am sad and sit with me…..heck yes! If pets are “just animals” why do they have more human qualities than most humans?

Hippityhop December 4, 2018 at 2:28 PM

Yes! They have their own miniature fake tree and mini stockings too!

The Fractionator December 4, 2018 at 2:32 PM

Don’t have any animals but buy Christmas Treats for our sons dog in Sarasota, Fl. When we go there for Christmas we stop at the local Dog Bakery and buy flavored dog bones that look like candy canes, snow flakes, Stars and other shapes. We wrap them up and include a little card. Dog loves them. Once we even baked our own Doggie Christmas Treats. Yea, I know, spoiled dog!

Dorothy December 4, 2018 at 2:49 PM

I don’t have a pet but my bro & his family do. I used to when it was one dog and one cat. But now there are lots of cats and 2 dogs and I gave up.

Dawg December 4, 2018 at 2:50 PM

Somehow I have a feeling my cat isn’t a Christian, but she is well taken care of.

TJ December 5, 2018 at 8:10 AM

LOL – does she gravitate towards the menorah?

Mimi (original) December 4, 2018 at 3:14 PM

Absolutely!! The Chihuahuas get clothes (because they’re always cold) and the larger dogs get chew toys. The cats get catnip toys – Yay! Drunken Kats! And this year, a special treat – a new cat tree!

Mir24 December 4, 2018 at 3:38 PM

Of course! Treats and/or toys for my dogs and their fur cousins.

Boomer December 4, 2018 at 3:52 PM

They buy for me with my credit card so says my wife.

Dr. Jellyfinger December 4, 2018 at 9:06 PM

Every day is Christmas for my dog. She has a different toy for every day of the year.

Joanna K Mohr December 4, 2018 at 9:49 PM

Our cat actually got her own stocking this year. We always bought gifts..but’s on!

Ancient Mariner December 4, 2018 at 9:59 PM

Yes, but I never get a thank-you card.
