Solo-Crash Turns Fatal Near I-680 In Walnut Creek

A man has died following a solo crash near Interstate Highway 680 in Walnut Creek this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported around 10:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Danville Boulevard and Rudgear Road.

The driver apparently left the roadway and struck a tree.

Firefighters worked to extract the victim from the vehicle, but at that time his pulse had already stopped.

Personnel from the Contra Costa County coroner’s office have been called to the scene.

As of 11:15 a.m., a tow truck was at the scene working to recover the crashed vehicle, according to the CHP.

I drove by it this morning. With the two firetrucks, ambulance, four police cars, two motorcycle cops, and the helicopter I just assumed it was an Emergency Responder drill. RIP Mr. I hope you didn’t suffer.
