I was always afraid to cross those tracks to get to the restaurant.

Don’t play chicken with a train.

This often happens when people are reading their phone and have headphones in… never even see it. Or, it could have been a choice.

KinseyLeaky July 6, 2018 at 6:58 PM

Of course no injuries on the train…why would there be?

When the train slams on the brakes, passengers or crew can get injured by falling.

KinseyLeaky July 6, 2018 at 7:33 PM

I heard they were hit, hit again and again and again…and so on till the train got stopped.
Unless it was a blind and deaf person with a white can that got hit the only other excuse is stupidity and you just can’t fix stupidity.

Kinsey, I would like to contact with you. Curious where you heard that. I’m looking into what happened, and would like to talk to someone.

Trains will NOT stop once in motion, no matter who is on the tracks. The engineer will sound horn continuously and that’s it. There’s not sufficient time and proper safety measures to slow down to a stop prior to impact. Engineers see the inevitable and say the same thing as the citizens who read the crap later….”You made a choice, always a consequence”.

Chicken Little July 7, 2018 at 5:17 PM

Amtrak trains have an emergency brake and the engineer will, in fact, hit it when they are about to hit someone. It pretty much never stops the train in time, but it’s better than nothing. They don’t just blow the horn and keep on truckin’.

Speaking of stupidity, near Martinez Marina, I see moron after moron hit the gas at rail crossings, as soon as the bell sounds, the lights flash, just before the gate comes down, the train is soon to cross. It’s probably the same dummies who are too impatient to stop at red lights. Perhaps, they have a gambling problem?

The weight of a train is in the multi-millions in terms of pounds. Just one locomotive can weigh, 300,000 to over 400,000 pounds. Not something to compete with in a game of chicken!

Oh, please July 7, 2018 at 6:21 PM

This might be a case of “person lets train hit them, thinking only of themselves and not of the damage and trauma they will cause.”

why not instead of saying rude hurtful things, you keep your comments to your self. You have no idea what was happening at that moment or what was going on in this persons head.
lets not pass judgment, not just you reads these comments.

It’s very easy to insult people who’re too dead to retort.

Local Girl July 9, 2018 at 1:59 PM

Thank you Megan. No one know what really happened, so why judge them.

Cowellian July 9, 2018 at 2:15 PM

Megan must be new to Claycord. Nevertheless, she posts her opinion while telling everyone else to keep their comments to themselves. That’s a nice bit of hypocrisy.
