“Happy Friday to all the wonderful citizens in the City of Claycord”

Yeah…. what about the rest of us?

Dorothy June 22, 2018 at 7:20 PM

On my last Mrs Pollifax book and happy to be reading indoors today! As I went through all the ones that I had here I found there at least 3 I never read before. I don’t think my mom read those either before she passed away.

Keep cook and have a great weekend.

Cowellian June 22, 2018 at 7:28 PM

Cowellian’s first

Courtney Russell June 22, 2018 at 7:44 PM

Trying to get to Pavilion via Myrtle and traffic is backed up beyond reason. Is there an accident on kirker?

Concordejet June 22, 2018 at 8:24 PM

Me second happy Friday happy summer

Shasta Daisy June 22, 2018 at 8:39 PM

Mayor, have you thought about an app for Claycord?
Enjoy your evening.
✌🏼

Dr Jellyfinger June 22, 2018 at 9:26 PM

No… it is an event at the Pavilion & attendees are ignoring traffic laws and blocking intersections…. it took me an hour to get through this mess to get home.
It’s Kevin Hart… not familiar with his work, but my first impression of the crowd tells me Safeway will probably close early.

Tally ho June 22, 2018 at 10:45 PM

Way to go herbie!

KinseyLeaky June 22, 2018 at 11:29 PM

And my friends have wondered all these years why I carry a gun…now they see exactly what it means to carry to protect ones family while on the road in the middle of the nice country drive.
Never let some politician take away your gun rights cause at some point you will excersise your right to use that gun legally, yes even in Ca..

cant sleep in heat June 22, 2018 at 11:56 PM

Any idea what debris falling from sky on Willow pass towards Evorna is? Cant see anything but hear hitting car and some reporters on side of the road roday as well. Im guessing some swarm of bugs…

Dr Jellyfinger June 23, 2018 at 7:51 AM

Well…. USI range is closed thanks to a bunch of wrist wringing Libicrats so you can’t blame it on them.

Law Dog June 23, 2018 at 7:50 AM

Law and order requires more jails. Build those jails now. And lock those bad guys up.

Scoob June 23, 2018 at 8:00 AM

Please don’t litter!

Barge June 23, 2018 at 9:10 AM

Does anyone know the names and addresses of recreational marijuana stores in El Cerrito? They must have laws that don’t allow advertising on websites.

S June 23, 2018 at 10:13 AM

S. 56th & Potrero Ave. Usually plenty of street vendors for your drug needs. Curbside service, keep your car in Drive just in case….. I don’t think they are “licensed” vendors……………

Kirkwood June 23, 2018 at 10:03 AM

Yesterday morning I spotted a motorcycle officer on eastbound Kirker Pass about halfway down the hill, hiding behind a bush, not the usual spot at the bend..

Antler June 24, 2018 at 2:36 PM

Stop looking behind bushes and DRIVE! 🙄

S June 23, 2018 at 10:07 AM

Just learned my favorite restaurant of all time is closing for good after 91 years and 4 generations of family ownership. Yes Folks, Mexicali Rose (Oakland) will lock the doors next Friday. The “Family” is retiring and the next generation is not willing to run with it…. I was a fan for 37 years…… I am actually sad about this……..

Jojo Potato June 23, 2018 at 11:05 AM

Too bad. I spent many a late night having a meal there in my youth. Back then I think it was open until at least 2am, maybe later. Never dared try the Menudo. Guess I’ll add that to one of my life’s regrets.

Cowellian June 23, 2018 at 11:07 AM

That is a shame! When I first got to the Bay Area, my company put me up in the London Lodge. I loved how many restaurants were within easy walking distance, and Mexicali Rose quickly became one of my favorites. They also had one over in Alameda that I liked a lot.

Silva June 23, 2018 at 7:41 PM

An old favorite of ours also. Did you know Rudy?

S June 23, 2018 at 9:25 PM

Yep indeed, everybody knew him. Good guy. I just left there. NEVER so packed and loud, 1 hour wait. Best of times, everyone talking to each other… I asked to keep a menu. Was ok… Will miss the classic taste of their salsa. Sad to see it go…

Silva June 23, 2018 at 10:25 PM

Thanks for posting.

S June 26, 2018 at 1:34 PM

Hurry! After today, you’ve only 3 days left to experience the best… Don’t miss out……….

Clayton Mom June 23, 2018 at 6:41 PM

Has anyone heard anything about the black smoke coming from the hills behind Clayton? You can see the smoke from Ygnacio Rd. Can’t find any info on the news or Claycord.

Dr Jellyfinger June 23, 2018 at 9:02 PM

It’s a Lyton Injun Tribe ad for a $10k slot winner guaranteed every Saturday night at San Pablo Gambling Hall.

WC Resident June 23, 2018 at 10:05 PM

I too wondered about the smoke. From where I was (near PH BART) it seemed to be coming from the Cemex plant as it was from somewhere beyond the quarry that’s visible from the west side.

CLAYCORD.com June 23, 2018 at 10:12 PM

The fire is burning in Antioch.

WC Resident June 23, 2018 at 10:17 PM

Thank you. Smoke sure can be deceptive!
https://imgur.com/a/No3N940 is a photo taken at 5:32pm from the Contra Costa canal west of N. Main Street. It looking at it now I think it was between me and the quarry.

drivesatruck June 24, 2018 at 6:27 AM

There was a fire burning at Marsh Creek and Bragdon. most likely the smoke you where seeing from over there

Silva June 23, 2018 at 10:21 PM

I got off the freeway onto YVR with a large fire vehicle carrying a small caterpillar dozer who put the siren on at the end of the ramp, and traveled EB on YVR at around 1:30 pm. I wondered where it was going.

Kirkwood June 24, 2018 at 10:07 AM

Race day today at Sonoma Raceway, Patriots Jet Team will be performing around mid-day. They usually fly over Claycord on their way over, and back. Six aircraft.

Lena June 24, 2018 at 10:50 AM

Looks a little smokey in Clayton this morning.

Anon-2-U June 24, 2018 at 2:52 PM

Did anyone besides me see the formation of 7 dark colored jets that flew overhead this morning around 10:00 am? We saw them long before we heard them.

City Girl June 24, 2018 at 11:11 PM

I did not see nor hear them, and I was working in my yard all morning.

Lena June 26, 2018 at 10:23 AM

If you are disposing of your barbeque or fireplace ash in the regular garbage pickup, please wet them thoroughly or contain them in a bag or wrapped and secured in newspaper before doing so. If you just dump them in your garbage can, on pick up day, the garbage truck goes down the street leaving a trail of ash behind it, and each new can that is emptied into the truck sends up a cloud of ash that is settling on cars, drives, windows, and everthing else on the street. It gets tracked into the house and settles on furniture, carpet, and countertops, as well. Ash can be dug into the soil to amend the clay soil in the area, or added in small quanties to compost heaps and bins. But, if you dispose of ashes in the garbage pickup, please contain it securely some way. Wetting it prior to disposal is the easiest.

Jojo Potato June 26, 2018 at 2:32 PM

Regarding the soccer world cup. How about we just have the final between Moses (Nigeria), Mohamed Salah (Egypt), and Jesus (Mexico)? Watching a great game between Nigeria and Argentina right now! Since I was a neighboor of the Nigerian great Mikel at least for a while I’m rooting for the Super Eagles. Go baby go!

KAD June 26, 2018 at 10:45 PM

I am fed up with receiving bills with no return envelope.

Consumer B June 27, 2018 at 1:29 AM

Kad… No envelope because they want you to pay your bills online now.
Or you can call and pay your bill by phone. New world order 😕

KAD June 27, 2018 at 2:51 PM

Not all of the bills can be paid online. They are just being cheap.

Kentucky Derby June 27, 2018 at 9:05 AM

I agree with KAD. We pay our bills online, but occasionally receive a bill (with a return envelope). If companies want to get paid, they need to send their customers a return envelope. It’s common courtesy, and good business sense.

Jojo Potato June 27, 2018 at 2:32 PM

Speaking of the World Cup, how can anyone seriously root for Switzerland? Isn’t their whole thing that they are neutral? So I’m neutral on them too, whatever.

KAD June 27, 2018 at 5:49 PM

Strawberry Moon tonight.

Kirkwood June 28, 2018 at 3:42 PM

When is Durian moon?

Silva June 29, 2018 at 7:46 AM

Durian moon! Aahahahaha!! Hopefully not for at least 30 years.

KAD June 28, 2018 at 8:13 PM

I spotted solar panels near the homeless tents in Berkeley today.

Silva June 28, 2018 at 11:14 PM

I saw that too.

Anon-2-U June 29, 2018 at 3:56 PM

Fire at YVR – scanner is mentioning that WCPD is going to close Ygnacio Valley Rd., and Montecito Homes area is being monitored.

Dr Jellyfinger June 29, 2018 at 4:01 PM

What’s burning?

Kathy June 29, 2018 at 4:33 PM

Fire in Turtle Creek!! We are at a distance but there is
A lot of brownish clouds!! It looks like it might be near
The middle of Turtle Creek Rd by upper park!!

KAD June 29, 2018 at 4:51 PM

Last for the week. Let’s hope the fire is contained soon.
