(by Janis Mara) – Caltrans will close the Number Four bore of the Caldecott Tunnel on state Highway 24 westbound Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, causing delays, transportation officials said today.

The Number Four bore will be closed from 9:30 p.m. Monday until 4 a.m. Tuesday, from 9:30 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday, according to Caltrans.

The closure will allow workers to wash the inside of the tunnel, transportation officials said.

Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time for the commute, according to Caltrans.

They are suppose to use recycled water, capture, filter and reuse. Not just let it go to the storm drains.

We do like it all prettified. Thanks for the warning, Claycord! I hope it will be up and running smoothly tomorrow at oh dark hundred when I need it.

Huh?!? I can’t recall ever hearing about any of the bores being closed before for CLEANING! Maybe I’ve just missed the notifications because I don’t use the tunnel very often, but I’m sure those tunnels could use a good shower!! When will they be doing this for the other 3 bores??

don’t the older tunnels need it more than this last new one??
