The Tomi Japanese Seafood Buffet inside the Sunvalley Mall in Concord was shut down on May 17 after health inspectors say they found 30 wet rodents droppings in the kitchen area, behind ice machine, water heater, storage area, and under food preparation tables.

The restaurant has since been reinspected and reopened.

Where will this tail lead us?

Nunya May 21, 2018 - 5:57 PM - 5:57 PM

To the rats.

Enough already!
Just pay the piper and be done with it.

If the mice or rats are in one food area of the mall maybe there are other food areas that need to be inspected.

The entire mall has rats. I’ve seen them from one end to the other.

“Wet rodent droppings”

I’m trying really hard not to get that visual in my head.

Not a surprise – those places are run like a bad cafeteria. I’ve had food poisoning after eating there two of the three times I’ve eaten at one of their locations.

As a suggestion – perhaps you could add the date to the title of these articles so that when you make lists like the one in this article we can see the date of the offense. I don’t care if a restaurant was hit for a negative food inspection 4 years ago, especially if it is under new management.

You can see the date in the URL. If you are using a desktop you can run the mouse cursor up/down the list of URLs and see the dates in the status line.

The Claycord web site has the ability to both have articles in categories and to tag them. For example http://claycord.com/category/claycord-online-museum/ has all of the Online Museum articles and http://claycord.com/tag/police-concord/ has the Concord Police reports. Unfortunately, they have never categorized or tagged the dirty dining articles. If that were done then you could see a list with the dates.

I’m loving all these restaurants being shut down that don’t care about our safety! Keep up the great work CoCo Health Dept!

NEVER eating out in Contra Costa ever again!

I also notice a lot of restaurants getting shut down… Also notice that buffets are the most common to be so… ???

Goomba May 21, 2018 - 3:24 PM - 3:24 PM

Shocking.

The Professor May 21, 2018 - 3:45 PM - 3:45 PM

“wet” droppings sounds way worse then just droppings.

Theresa May 24, 2018 - 3:44 PM - 3:44 PM

I agree!

I’m reminded of the Jetson’s.

“Jane, get me off this crazy thing!”

WHAT?

ChuckStir May 21, 2018 - 6:37 PM - 6:37 PM

Wet dropping (fresh) verse dry droppings (not so fresh), who cares. Every restaurant in this county probably has unwanted guest roaming their floors, counters and walls each and every day. Been going on for years and there is no trail of dead bodies.

Da Doc May 22, 2018 - 6:01 PM - 6:01 PM

I saw some rats shopping at the 49ers section of JC Penney. I guess they decided to take a break from the nearby food court.

Consumer B May 23, 2018 - 3:09 PM - 3:09 PM

The owners should be present on the premises more often and I bet the restaurant would be cleaner. Because most of the time the owners, if they don’t need to be there, will not make themselves go to the business they own.

Rebecca King May 25, 2018 - 6:27 AM - 6:27 AM

I went on that day. The officers greeted us with bullet proof vest that said IRS…hmmm. something tells me this is not the whole story.
