Wave ….first!
I’m glad I gave up all that “First” nonsense!
2nd? …… I was number two?
Damnit!
Hold ‘er, Newt! What’s up with the correct spelling?
(Where I’m from, it’s just “Dammit”!)
i went number two once, mindblowing…..
WAVE FIRST?
Happy Weekend Claycordians!
Cowellian’s first!
Have a great weekend.
Sorry I’m a little late.
I was dancin’ with a friend.
Peace and smiles to all.
If it’s true that school shooters are activating fire alarms first maybe we should think about alarms that go to the office before they sound. I’d have a phone with video coverage of it. If it’s a real fire the office could sound the alarm.
It’s only one small idea , but worth considering . I don’t think there is a simple solution.
Most schools have already changed the protocol on fire alarms. Just for this reason.
Most schools have already changed fire alarm protocol for this reason.
WTF?
I enjoyed last week’s book I dug out all the Mrs Pollifax books. Since I’ll be reading through the pile of them, I won’t be doing book reports for a while. Dorothy Gilman is a fun writer and Mrs Pollifax is a hoot. If you need light reading, these stories will cheer you up or at least give you a chuckle or two. I found 9 of them in the bookcases and there may be more out there.
What were the best and worst neighbors you’ve ever had over the years?
The second people ever to own the house next door were gems. Friendly and fun, but not in your face or your business. The worst was a garage band, mostly when the parents weren’t home. They were incredibly loud. I should have found out the band’s name because they could have been Metallica, or Green Day, or one that became famous.
Someone update me on the whole CVCHS thing..
It’s still a mess.
I propose that if a shooter uses another person’s weapon to commit a crime, the weapon’s owner goes to prison.
So, if you have a firearm safely stored and secured, but a crook manages to steal it anyway…. U spend life in prison when the crook kills with your gun? Remember U have it safely secured….. Ur reacting, not responding… knee jerk will not solve this issue. Mental Health Services need to be improved.

I call Shenanigans on the skateboard guy! Obviously a younster wearing a wig/mask combo (notice the tuft of dark brown hair at the neckline).
Too bad Dolly no longer looks like Dolly
Does anyone know of a really big parking lot or road with very little traffic where my daughter can practice driving? She has her permit and wants to get used to driving before hitting the real roads.
DVC
Concord High.
K Mart in Pleasant Hill.
The parking lot at the old K Mart in Pleasant Hill is pretty deserted.
Shadelands business park tend to be very quiet on weekends.
I practiced at the Pavilion parking lot when the gates were open.
Yes,…I did my practice driving at DVC too,…1974!
Go to your local cemetery. Slow speed with lots of turns for practice. And heck… If you goof, your at the right place….
Cal State East Bay…Near YV and Ayers. I took my boys there on a Sun. afternoon. was great.
I took my kids to the cemetary at the west end of Grayson rd. Very quiet.
Thank you for all the suggestions everyone!
Concord Pavillion has a large lot with roads great for teaching when they don’t have concerts
We went to the Golden Gate Fields racetrack parking lot. I guess that would’ve been 15 years ago so it could be different now, but it’s right on the bay with nice views. It was especially good fun at sunset.
Please don’t litter!
Did anybody else see Venus near the moon last night and tonight?
Me!🌝
✌🏼
Cal State Hayward parking lot on. Ygnacio.
They’ve closed the lot across from dvc on weekends
I took my kids to practice at the CSU East Bay lot when they were learning to drive. It’s especially good if they are learning on a manual transmission, as there are parts with a very slight slope where they can practice clutch engagement going downhill and then when they are getting good at it, refine their skills on the slight uphill.
What is needed is a large open and wet area to practice car control and skid recovery. The skill level of most drivers is appalling, and this would help.
If you go to a big parking lot and start practicing your skid control, you’re likely to find yourself in the back of a police car, with your car on the back of a tow truck.
Concord Pavilion parking lot or Shadelands business park on a weekend
what is going on with the lane changes on Concord Blvd, and Clayton Road?
So confusing and poorly marked.
I have a neighbor that starts his motorcycles, cars and truck around 7 am and revs the engines. Does anyone think that’s disrespecting to the neighbors?
So ds to me lie your neighbor is just warming up his vehicle to go to work. Most people with jobs are already up by then.
Question for Claycordians: I watched a recap of the Royal Wedding on Good Morning America. They said that Oprah was there and she talked to Meghan’s mother about the racism that Meghan has had to deal with. (?) I never heard about any derogatory racial attitudes or remarks aimed at Meghan. Has anyone else heard of her being harassed? All I’ve heard is that the English people are very welcoming to her. Is this another – making something out of nothing – story?
Oprah is a known racist and baiter…
I have seen it in the comment sections in the DAILY MAIL. There have been thousands.. MILLIONS of examples of it in all of their articles from the very beginnings of their Meghan Markle coverage.
Could be referring to the racism in the country and not England.
I think the Brittish are showing remarkable restraint.
Lena! You are a shoot from the hip kind of gal! Let Freedom ring!
Yes the Brits are horrible snobs and yes bigots and The R word can probably be applied to some royals as well.
But puLEEZE, no one says a word about Oprah and Sharpton? A couple of self aggrandizing creeps out to spoil Meghan and Harry’s special day. I hope Doria is smart enough not to step into that arena. Better to follow suit honoring Bishop Michael Curry. An American Man of God using the power of love.
Time to toss out the radical haters. Loved Bishop Michael Curry’s message…and so did the British.
@JL They were just being polite. You can take the girl out of the trash but you can’t take the trash out of the girl. Wouldn’t surprise me that she’s already pregnant and Harry is just doing the “right” thing.
Lena: Your comments are not nice.
I’m just tickled that Harry is so undeniably besotted. I hope the’re very happy life together. Jealousy will make you miserable. I did so want a thought bubble over Phil’s head.
Nature Lover: Lena not nice? LOL. Precisely. I am waaay nicer, but she is funny. Poor Meghan may be in for a rough ride, but I won’t trash talk her. I am hoping she and her mom will find a cozy spot for a great show.
I give it two years.
Nice got me where I am today, so I thought I’d try something a little different.
Lena: You have to let those dogs run sometimes.
Likely not even his … probably his best friend’s kid.
@ Silva – ok, thanks for pointing that out. I don’t read the Daily Mail so I didn’t get where Oprah/ABC news was coming from with that remark.
If you’re not reading the Daily Mail then you are missing out on the best gossip. That paper occasionally publishes real stories but specializes in dishing the dirt. Try it but be careful, it can be addicting!
So true, Jojo potato. If you want serious news about real stuff happening in the world good luck finding any, and article headlines are written In to raise hackles, and levels of truth vary from 0 to 50 percent. Comments can sometimes be very interesting, but so much troll/bot activity to weed out.
From now until eternity there will be racists. Look at the number of onlookers at the wedding or on television. Why would you worry about racists that will always be there. You ignore them and get on with your life.
@ Ricardoh – Ya, that’s why I asked the question. I couldn’t figure out why ABC even made the statement. There were thousands of people lining the streets and cheering. Also, millions watching at home. It seemed like a weird thing to bring up. I guess the news just loves to stoke up controversy.
From posts last week, sounds like a visit to DMV might be interesting.
Not to conduct any business but to check out their “new” system.
This business of a line out the door . . . what are they going to do in 95 degree plus weather and how do they treat people using a cane or a walker ? ?
Guess I’ll have to thumbnail through the second season of “13 Reasons Why” on Netflix to find Martinez settings. The show is just too juvenile for my taste, the acting and writing not that good either. The “court house” (actually the financial building standing in) shows up in the first few minutes of episode 1.
A good number of Americans died so we wouldn’t have to be concerned with royal weddings. I’m gonna exercise that privilege and urge you to do the same.
I thought we kissed and made up (figuratively)?
We were in London many years ago on July 4th and there was no mention of our holiday (that we saw anyway).
They consider July fourth one of the days they lost the colonies. To the rebels.
Is Harry even a legitimate Royal? Isn’t he the love child of Diana and that red-headed “riding instructor” she was having an affair with while Charles was cavorting with Camilla?
Yes Lena, Harry is a legitimate Windsor. Neither of the brothers is as homely as their father, but Harry resembles Charles more than William’ especially around the eyes and mouth. Ginger coloring was strong in Diana’s family; her father and brother were born gingers. As far as the theory goes, the timing is too far off.
I read differently.
In this day and age, the colonists would have labeled terrorists.
jtkatec ~ WTF?
Did the “Colonists” (I assume you mean Militia & not the Colonial Army) wantonly kill non combatants? What are you referring to?
jtkatec ~ “Terrorists”?….. really?
Did the “Colonists” (I assume you mean Militia & not the Colonial Army) wantonly kill non combatants? What are you referring to?
Wind, wind, go away…..
Peace.
Yes, please! It’s much too cool and windy for this time of year. Would like to see things warm up a bit –
Macawlady: 10 yrs or so ago, I was on an HOA board. I took note of the weather, how windy and cold it was, at a meeting with lifeguards. It was the week before Memorial Day. I knew it was a trend but had never marked it in my mind to check for repeat trends.
My findings since have been, warm in February, cold in May. Fun! You may or may not find it true. I also track the summer heatwave tempurature. It always differs from the airport and posters on this site. More fun.

In watching the wedding procession, as the carriage passed I could see thousands of outstretched arms apparently giving the Nazi salute. Closeups revealed that every hand had a phone in it. Sign of the times I guess.
Wow, glad you stopped before explaining how Mein Kampf leans too far to the left.
My impression was not political. In watching a recent documentary about the Third Reich, I had observed the visual symmetry in crowd shots and that came to mind as I saw the same symmetry in the wedding procession by onlookers along the road – and for a different reason.
I get it. It’s a curious juxtaposition you never expected to see. There’s a smidgen of dark humor in there.
Hello to all my fellow Claycordians from Germany…..
Prost…
Atticus nice to look at your list . Good laughs
Off to Wurzburg for some sightseeing and great bier
Peace out
For some reason the comment pane is not autofilling the name and email fields anymore. Nor is it posting the comment with the edit time countdown. Anyone else seeing this? Must be a bug.
I noticed this about a week ago. Two minutes later both my comments were posted. I can tell it’s happening to others, because there are several duplicate comments – a few minutes apart. I haven’t had any duplicate comments (my comments are going through so far – I don’t re-type them) but I do appreciate the ability to edit my comments if necessary.
Same problem. Browser, Firefox version 60.0.1
I’m seeing the same thing on no autofill. It was working earlier this morning
Yes. I was hoping it wasn’t just me. There’s also no confirmation that the post went through, and I am redirected to the top of the page.
I had noticed this on my computer too. This was using Firefox browser. From what I could find out Firefox was updated recently so that new tabs would be opened in private mode which clears those fields. Look at the symbol in the address bar to see what mode is set. I would make a nasty comment about vendors changing things in updates I never asked for but hey, this is family friendly site. Enjoy!
I had forgetting the name and e-mail happen to me today. I posted a reply to a comment and then wanted to post a comment at the end of the same article. My name and e-mail was not showing and also is not showing when I came over to the talk-about-whatever article. I exited out of Firefox and on reloading the names are still blank.
Whatever happened did so without a browser upgrade. While I use Firefox I’m on an ESR chain and using version 52.
The thing about post waiting for moderation is missing.
The countdown for edit-cancel is also now missing.
I also noticed that the auto-fill didn’t work, but I just assumed it was my computer.
I usually use Firefox for browsing, so I tried using Chrome. Again, auto-fill didn’t work, and I couldn’t see my post while it was in moderation. This post is being made in IE. Maybe this one will be different.
. . . or maybe not.
Has anyone else noticed the site behaving differently when you posted in the past couple of days, or is it only me?
I m iSS t he edit/cancel feeture the m0st. That was very usEful/
There is something wrong. I noticed it yesterday. When I click on a comment, it takes me to the top and not the comment itself. When I submit a comment, the site is telling me it is a duplicate when it is not.
It’s not the site. It’s your browser that has been updated without your knowledge by people who think they are helping you. You did read all those license agreements didn’t you?
You are not right. We are using different browsers.
I agree with KAD. I first noticed this at work, and then noticed the exact same thing at home. My employer is not using the same browser as our home computer.
We’re also having different issues. I’m able to click on a comment, and it does not take me to the top of the page. The info doesn’t hold in auto-fill, and the comment doesn’t show awaiting moderation. Not able to edit.
As long as the comments go through…
This probably has to do with Claycord.com not having an SSL certificate. If it did then you would see an https prefixing the site. Can’t blame them much as there isn’t much here one would need an SSL certificate for and they are expensive and need to be maintained. Small sites generally don’t have them.
See, it’s doing it again!
Saw a hangglider that landed in the field across from the fire station on Crystyl Ranch Dr. He gave me a 👍 that he was okay.
Hanggliding… ultra light flying was as close as I got, oh well.
✌🏼
Shasta Daisy, How cool. I once saw a hang glider (possibly the same guy) gliding over Lime Ridge at I was driving East on Treat up the hill. I tried to find him after losing sight a few times, and I think he came to Earth somewhere near Newhall Park. That’s so cool!
Too bad Dolly doesn’t look like Dolly anymore.
Brrrr!!!!
So much for my new 👙
✌🏼
Haha! Don’t worry, the heat is coming, Shasta Daisy. What a long windy stretch though. I had other plans too, and so did the roses!
Failure !

Fire near Willow Pass and 242?
To whoever was asking about the proposed bike lanes on Treat between Jones rd and Buskirk: there is a meeting of the Walden homeowners association on Monday the 4th at the Rennaisance hotel to discuss this. Features the WC mayor and a county traffic guy. See here:

( click on the pdf file to open)
Three million dollars for two blocks worth of stupid bike lanes that won’t get used? What a deal. At least I’l never use them, too dangerous, there are two safe places for bikes to cross 680 already in that area and this plan doesn’t even do that. Oak Park blvd and the CC canal trail are safe and available.
IKEA’s bike has been recalled because the belt can snap and make you crash. That is if you figure out how to assemble it!
https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2018/ikea-recalls-bicycles-due-to-fall-hazard
Is this just part of the old saw about you get what you pay for? Maybe, but then why do people keep taking the bait?
Too soon for last?
Last.
Last.
