Coming Up – The 29th Annual Bay Area KidFest In Concord On Memorial Day Weekend

The 29th annual Bay Area KidFest on Memorial Day Weekend, May 26-28, is one of the Bay Area’s longest-running family events and this year has three days of jam-packed entertainment, activities, food and fun in Downtown Concord.

In a spacious outdoor setting at Mt. Diablo High School, KidFest features free non-stop entertainment on the Main Stage, traveling attractions All-Alaskan Racing Pigs, Pedal Tractor Pullers by All-Alaskan, 1880s Pioneer Experience and Variety Show from Arizona, Kidz Science Safari from the University of Texas, Kids’ Town America and the chance to meet and have your photo taken with Spider-Man, Olivia and Olaf.

There are dozens of other free kids activities including face painting, balloon hats, spin art, keepsake hand-prints, inflatable slides and crawls, kiddie golf, soccer and much more included in the low admission price.

KidFest offers an all-day, all-ride wristband to be used on all the thrilling rides including zip line, Dragon Wagon roller coaster, Xtreme Lasertag, Bungee Spider Jump, Water Ballerz, giant slide, Spider Mountain, Ferris wheel, petting zoo, pony rides, Stars ‘n Stripes train and 10 more rides.

There’s an eclectic Food Court, arts and crafts and exhibitor booths.

For the eighth year in a row, KidFest will also present a special Memorial Day ceremony at noon on Monday, May 28, with the 18-time World Champion Concord Blue Devils C Drum and Bugle Corps, Mt. Diablo High School Jr. ROTC color guard and music honoring America’s service people past and present sung by young sensation Janelle Feraro.

Admission is just $6 with a donation of canned food to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano or $7 without donation to the Food Bank. Babies under 24 months and seniors 65+ are free. On Saturday, attendees can double the discount deal by bringing two canned goods to get $2 off an admission.

Proceeds from Bay Area KidFest benefit local educational, health and sports groups. KidFest continues for the 23rd year as one of the major annual donor events for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano.

KidFest is open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Memorial Day Monday. KidFest is held at Mt. Diablo High School, 2450 Grant St. in downtown Concord just off Highway 242.

On-site vehicle parking is $5 with plenty of free street parking around the site also available.

Do not leaving anything in your vehicles that can be seen thru a window and do not put stuff in your trunk when you park as thieves will he watching for that.
