Sunday Afternoon Shooting Injures Man In North Concord

April 22, 2018 15:22 pm · 28 comments

A man was shot on Sunday just before 2 p.m. in North Concord.

The man claims he was shot while fleeing from three people on a trail near Bates Ave. and Industrial Way in Concord.

The man’s injures don’t appear to be life-threatening.

Police have not provided a description of the suspects.

He was shot while fleeing from three suspects ? question is why are you being chased? why would somebody shoot at you ? was this random? I highly doubt it was random but if so that’s not good… I know there are a lot of crazy people out there but people usually don’t shoot firearms at you for no reason unless they are nuts or on Anti-depression pills like 90% of the mass shooters. My guess is this is drug related or it’s gang related …. maybe it’s a female love triangle LOL you ladies and your drama. Or maybe it’s some ongoing funk this person had with a group of people ? Keep us updated

How about we give him the benefit of the doubt? Even if he was up to no good he doesn’t deserve to be shot.

Chicken Little April 22, 2018 at 5:07 PM

Maybe they were trying to rob him or something. Don’t be so quick to blame the victim.

Did you come up with that all by yourself? You must of read it somewhere. Here is some more reading.(even if it wasn’t random it wouldn’t be good)

@ Kristin:

“Even if he was up to no good he doesn’t deserve to be shot.”

Quite a generalization. What if he was attempting to rape one of those three other people?

“You ladies and your drama”???

Rollo Tomasi April 25, 2018 at 12:11 AM

Not sure who that vitriole was aimed at. I didn’t speculate about the incident at all. I simply challenged Kristen’s assertion that even if he was up to no good he didn’t deserve to be shot. In fact, my entire comment is based on the fact that nobody here knows anything.

Dear Kristen,

Let’s say someone is attacking you and or your kids with a claw hammer.

Hopefully no one shots the attacker, after all “no one deserves to be shot”.

Drug deal gone bad?

Not much going on up there on a Sunday afternoon.

Wrigleygum April 22, 2018 at 5:20 PM

Yes people do shoot at other people for no reason. There doesn’t have to be a motive as law enforcement and the media shouts there must be.
Times have changed and if you can’t see that, you better watch the news more often.

Maybe he will flip on his shooters.

Lots of wigged out homeless in the area, what with the shelter nearby on Arnold. Let’s see more details about the vic so we can jump to fewer conclusions.

makoman April 23, 2018 at 2:27 PM

my thoughts exactly

ConcordMike April 22, 2018 at 10:54 PM

I’m leaning towards homeless vs. homeless. I go out on a limb.

Dawn April 23, 2018 at 12:16 AM

My husband walks that trail every weekday. He has for many years. He always talks about the homeless and how they aren’t as they used to be. Some where pleasant. Not so much anymore in that area. I would bet this is a homeless vs homeless situation. Sad no mattter what tho.

All shootings are tragic and not necessary. Too bad we have a society like this. In Japan they have zero shootings. Think about it. Also the Japanese have no trash anywhere. The kids make their own delicious lunches in school and clean it up also. WE are a very sick society. We have a president that is completely off his rocker, He and is administration only add more stress to our society here in the USA. They do nothing to end gun violence. Every day you listen to the news and you cannot believe what you hear. People are shot all the time. SICK AND TIRED OF THIS, SICK AND TIRED OF THE NRA TOO.

G. April 23, 2018 at 8:43 AM

Grass is always greener eh? Personally I find your hyperbole to be pretty dramatic.

Rollo Tomasi April 23, 2018 at 10:18 AM

Japan has the sixth highest suicide rate in the world, and second worst among eight major industrialized nations. Yep, they’ve got it all figured out.

Yves harlowe April 23, 2018 at 1:19 PM

Right, right. The NRA shoots people. Crazy criminals have nothing to do with shooting people. Because the NRA makes sure crazy people and criminals can get guns without background checks. Sheesh.

makoman April 23, 2018 at 2:31 PM

sounds like someone needs an emotional support peacock as dramatic as your post was

Sweeney Todd April 24, 2018 at 4:15 PM

We should send all our shooters there, unfair we have so many and they have none.i In exchange I suggest they send all their kids who make all their own lunches and clean up after themselves. #fairtradeactofconcord

FWIW, I have seen a recent uptick of roaming homeless in Walnut Creek. Most of our homeless seemed to have a more or less permanent spot where they keep their stuff. The roaming homeless keep their stuff with them piled up on carts. One guy that’s been in the area for a couple of weeks now has two carts with huge piles plus five pit-bull dogs meaning he really stands out.

Like most people, nearly all of them are friendly. Also like most people, there are some that will try to escalate and/or resolve a dispute with a knife or gun.

Randy April 23, 2018 at 9:40 AM

All’s good it wasn’t life threatening.

On the way home April 23, 2018 at 11:04 AM

Sunday eve on my way home @ 5pm there were at least 6 Concord PD @ the homeless shelter on Arnold it maybe related. Always something going on there but this was the largest police presence I’ve seen there.

Bad Nombre April 23, 2018 at 12:36 PM

Isn’t that area on the short list for pot zoning? Should get interesting.

Citizen April 23, 2018 at 10:08 PM

Our society is very violent! It is not getting better but worse! End of story!
