Better Business Bureau To Hold ‘Secure Your ID Day’ Paper Shredding Event In Concord

A free paper shredding event will be held in Concord on April 21.

“Secure Your ID Day,” sponsored by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), will take place on Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Concord Civic Center, 1950 Parkside Dr.

Bring up to five boxes of documents to be shredded on-site.

Documents should be removed from binders, but staples and paper clips are acceptable. This is a green event, and all paper will be recycled. Ripcord Digital, a BBB Accredited Business, will be present to shred documents. Their shredding truck is equipped with a camera so participants can watch the process.

Residents and small businesses are encouraged to attend the event and take a key step in identity theft protection by shredding their sensitive paper documents such as receipts, credit offers, credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, checks, bank statements, expired charge cards, and similar items that are no longer needed.

BBB staff will also be on-site to provide advice and tips for identity theft protection.

Is this for Concord residents only or can other local cities participate?

You can buy a shredder pretty cheaply and do it yourself when and as needed. I only have to empty the shredder once or twice a year.
