Congressman DeSaulnier Issues Statement On Military Action In Syria

April 13, 2018 21:31 pm · 36 comments

Congressman Mark DeSaulnier (CA-11) issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s announcement that the United States will carry out strikes in Syria in response to a chemical weapons attack brought by Assad’s regime on Syrian civilians.

“The military situation in Syria is incredibly complex, but Assad’s heinous use of chemical agents on Syria’s civilian population must be met with a strong response. I am grateful that we are partnering with our French and British allies as we carry out these attacks.”

Well I’ll be…..

Dems=Repubs April 13, 2018 at 9:42 PM

Without any investigation into the supposed gassing of Assad’s own people (right before he was about to claim victory in civil war, totally makes sense) our Dem Congressman knows, for sure, that “Assad’s heinous use of chemical agents on Syria’s civilian population” happened and that he is “grateful that we are partnering with our French and British allies as we carry out these attacks.”
How anyone still believes in a two party system today amazes me. They’re all the same, they just listen to their corporate masters, not us the people.

“Once a Republican always a Republican.” Mark seems to be going against the Democratic Party leaders concern over Trump striking without approval of Congress.

AW April 14, 2018 at 12:15 PM

I agree two-party system is dated. How about some candidates worth voting for.

Elwood April 13, 2018 at 10:15 PM

It Seems Like Only Yesterday When Mark couldn’t make anything more complicated than a beer and shot. Now he knows everything about everything.

He uses the same set of talking points as Aspirn, Loca and Randy. There must be a website loaded with cut and paste choices. I wonder how they get paid? Probably a per diem plus talking points. Or maybe by the word.

I also bet they are on the same payroll.

Roscoe April 13, 2018 at 10:26 PM

Now if we could just bomb Saudi Arabia and liberate the women.

GBC April 13, 2018 at 10:26 PM

Surprised that Marky isn’t taking credit for initiating the military strikes…

Dr Jellyfinger April 13, 2018 at 10:30 PM

Geez! All the California “D” Ladycrats want us to put it on the ballot to let the Californian milltary/diplomatic expert voters decide the issue! I expected Mark to follow suit… but he says “Bomb the Baby Killers”? Was there a poll taken already? Soooprise!

Alan April 13, 2018 at 10:43 PM

That’s great, Congressman. You’re a real champ. Super-brave stance you’re taking, supporting another undeclared war. You do realize, Congressman, that when we bomb a sovereign nation, that is an act of war. Congressman, if you search your memory, you might recall a time when only Congress had the authority to declare war. You know, back when the Constitution was more than a scrap of paper.

The deep state tried to gin up a war last year with a supposed Syrian gas attack against civilians that was recently proven to be fake. This latest gas attack was equally fake. This is all just a lead-up to eventual war with Iran. Whether you’re coming from the right or the left, this bizarre lust for major wars has to be very disturbing to you. But with the appointment of John Bolton last week, war became inevitable.

Risking World War 3 over an obviously staged chemical weapons attack is beyond stupid. A lot of people voted for Donald Trump because he campaigned as a non-interventionist, and Hillary all but promised war with Russia. Turns out the country was screwed either way. This is where I’d normally insert a sad-faced crying emoji…

Dr Jellyfinger April 14, 2018 at 8:22 AM

Geez Alan … we could see another holocaust & you’d say itz none of our business?

Mitch April 13, 2018 at 10:51 PM

Eat **** Mark, you fake. Tell me what stake your constituents have in Syria? None at all.

Badge1104 April 14, 2018 at 7:10 AM

Oh…. now the Liberals don’t like Mark. How funny. You hypocrites! Had it bennwas transgender or LBGTQ people being gassed, You would have championed all out war.

ClayDen April 13, 2018 at 11:05 PM

I agree with Mark on this one. There’s a first time for everything. It is Friday the 13th though………

Weppin April 14, 2018 at 6:09 AM

Surprised with Mark’s statement on this, but totally agree with him.

NunYa April 14, 2018 at 2:18 AM

Worthless statement from a gutless puppet coward Demokrat.

PO'd April 14, 2018 at 6:34 AM

Most of the Bay Area dems raised constitutional issues that they forget to bring up when their team carries out raids. Typical of Lee, Speier, Pelosi et al. Mark better get in line, or they will run someone else in his district.

There’s not going to be WW3 over this action, as Russia is too weak. Assad
is brutal, but will remain. Nothing will change here in regard to the big picture

Sick of it April 14, 2018 at 7:07 AM

And no word about having a Strong president that created this partnership

Nunya April 14, 2018 at 7:14 AM

“haters”? What you are twelve years old?

BB April 14, 2018 at 8:07 AM

It’s amazing how ugly people can be when it comes to politics. I’m embarrassed for you guys who cant make a point without obscenities and name calling. Grow up

Welcome to Claycord

chuckie the troll April 14, 2018 at 8:22 AM

No thanks to Mark. Stick to what you know…whenever you figure out what that is.

Smee April 14, 2018 at 8:24 AM

It’s estimated Assad had utilized chemical weapons attacks 50 times. The international Chemical Weapons Convention calls for a response to destroy those weapons. BUT, our constitution requires the president go through Congress before doing so. There’s good reason for that, especially in this type of situation.

Mister G April 14, 2018 at 9:31 AM

“We have proof on the chemical weapons, including means, motive and perpetrator, but the intelligence is too sensitive to share with the public. You’ll have to take our word on that.”

It’s practically a carbon copy of 2003, totally unacceptable. I think Trump’s 50% approval rating just went in the toilet. It did as far as I’m concerned.

The Man April 14, 2018 at 9:38 AM

Elections are coming need I say more?

Rdub April 14, 2018 at 9:54 AM

Don’t use chemical weapons and you won’t get air striked. USA/UK/France were right in doing what they did.

Never Enough April 14, 2018 at 11:49 AM

The president does not need congressional approval for military strikes. If funding is needed congress has to approve the money. This is taught in basic government classes in high school.

DD April 14, 2018 at 12:19 PM

This was a necessary move, and it was smart to bring in some allies, but where the Hell is the U.N.?

Ricardoh April 14, 2018 at 2:20 PM

As usual under the bed.

chuckie the troll April 14, 2018 at 2:53 PM

“We’re so happy we can hardly count. And did we tell you the name of the game, boy? It’s called ‘riding the gravy train’.”

Pac Islander April 14, 2018 at 1:38 PM

How long until he changes his tune and calls the President a war mongering profiteer that attacked Syria for no good reason and that we should mind our own business..

Oh….that already happened? Damn political puppets move fast.

Ricardoh April 14, 2018 at 2:29 PM

I was against this attack but I also understand the need to prevent a country from using chemical weapons so I am a house divided on this one. With the many different factions in this war I am not positive you could exclude any faction of not using chemical weapons. They are not that difficult to make. We live in a screwed up world. I think President Trump as funny as that may sound is the right person to straighten up a few messes.

Citizen April 14, 2018 at 10:07 PM

Thank you Congressman!

Pac Islander April 15, 2018 at 11:28 AM

Hi Mark… you should just use your real name. We know its you.

AlwaysBePositive April 15, 2018 at 3:49 PM

The unfortunate truth is that the Syrian people are no better off today than they were last week. Assad has killed far more of his people with conventional weapons than chemical ones. I am against unauthorized by Congress of military force, but I am in favor of hitting back against those that would use chemical weapons.

I’d feel better if I thought djt knew what he was tweeting about when he used ‘mission accomplished’.

NuMerica April 16, 2018 at 1:19 PM

Firs time I’ve agreed with him
