15-year-old Concord Resident Identified as Victim of Fatal Vehicle -vs- Bicycle Collision on Willow Pass Rd.

A teenage boy fatally struck by a vehicle in Concord on Sunday evening has been identified by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office as 15-year-old Sergio Pop-Pacheco.

Pop-Pacheco, a Concord resident, was riding his bike north in the west crosswalk of Willow Pass Road at Fry Way when he was struck by a westbound pickup truck on Willow Pass in a collision reported at 6:51 p.m., police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, a 40-year-old Fairfield man, stopped and called 911 and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the collision, according to police.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Officer Matt Forristall at (925) 671-3172.
