UPDATE: Man in Critical Condition After Shooting in Concord

February 13, 2018 10:00 am · 21 comments

A man is in critical condition this morning after he was shot Monday night in Concord, according to police.

At 9:15 p.m. Monday, police received a 911 call from someone reporting a shooting that had just occurred in the parking lot of a complex in the 4800 block of Clayton Road.

Arriving officers found a man down in the parking lot with a single gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to the hospital where he is in critical condition this morning, police said.

Police searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspects. Although police have not officially released a description of the suspects, witnesses say they were two black men and one white man, all in their 20s. One of the suspects was carrying a messenger bag.

Police were assisted by a California Highway Patrol helicopter.

The case is currently under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Loercher at (925) 603-5922.

Police were assisted by a California Highway Patrol helicopter. CHP incompetence too? I’ll take that bet.

How are the police incompetent? The call comes in at 9:15 PM. The actual shooting happened prior to that. Say 2 or 3 minutes to determine what someone heard. Another 3 or 4 minutes to decide if they really want to call the police. The 911 call goes to CPD or maybe CHP where it gets transferred to CPD. The CPD call taker questions the caller to find out whats up – 3 or 4 minutes. The call gets dispatched. The beat officer, unless they just happen to be johnny on the spot has to drive to the call – 5 to 7 minutes. Once they arrive and everything is secured, they question people and find the victim -10 to 15 minutes. They confirm they have a crime, request fire and ambulance and then they request a helicopter. Dispatch calls the Sheriff/East Bay Regional/CHP to find out who if anyone is flying tonight. The helicopter is dispatched. The helicopter has to fly to the location from God only knows what part of the county or adjacent counties it was on station at. Get my point? You can drive a long way in 13 to 18 minutes it takes the beat cop to determine what the hell is going on and another 5 or 10 for the helicopter to arrive. “Just occurred” is a relative term.

I wonder if they took the guys messenger bag and if he was a delivery person.
I also wonder who raises people that don’t respect life. I doubt they will be sitting next to you in Church.

You’d be surprised who is sitting next to you in church.
And sadly, who’s teaching your kids at school, serving your Grand Slam breakfast or packing your Amazon order. You’re right about raising kids though. Somewhere there was a disconnect, and if i had to put money on it I’d say it began late 60s/early 70s, the “anything goes” generation. “If it feels good, do it.” I’m not even kidding, i was there– actual slogans! It has not improved since. No one teaches responsibility anymore.

Native,

The City website has the application for police officer trainee position, so feel free to throw your name in the hat. Well, if you’re not too much of a coward. You could show them a thing or two on doing their jobs…

I’d also put money on the moms of these perpetrators, that they are not horrible people. You sometimes see the parents, mostly the mothers, being interviewed after the arrest of their kid, and I often think, she really did the best she could. Of course there are exceptions, but I’m a bit of a softie and tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. Glad to hear the victim did survive, hope he pulls through, and we’ll be hearing more of this story. And let it not go unsaid, these men are adults, and are 100% responsible for the decisions they made here.

You are seeing a 3 minute interview. Anyone can hold it together and look somewhat competent for 3 minutes.

I could not agree more. “The experiment” to “liberate” women and take them out of their homes and neighborhoods has not been a success. Children need to be taught values in the home and not just “quality time” where it can be fit in. We are now reaping what we sowed. Not a pretty picture.

Concordmom February 15, 2018 at 11:33 AM

wait, what? Liberate women and take them out of their homes? Are you serious? Newsflash. Lots of women who work have kids that don’t commit crimes. Why don’t we start making men accountable for leaving their kids so moms CAN’T stay home with kids.. or better yet. Make men who have kids, ACT LIKE FATHERS?! There’s an idea. People who commit crimes come from ALL walks of life. To imply they ONLY come from single parent homes is complete ignorance.

I’m pretty critical of police wrong doings myself, but to say CPD is anywhere near one the most corrupt departments is laughable. There are many far worse cities with far worse problems on that list my friend. Relax a bit and enjoy your city, we are lucky, it’s a pretty nice one.

shootings where criminals get away and never found …I mean a staples was robbed recently

this city is a crap hole waiting to implode

More will come when they build the shopping center on N Concord BART property, along with 300 or so apartments. Yay.

Aww “your soaking in it” thats cool of you to say. For the rest of you… Have you never heard of someone doing someone wrong and they get “paid back” Im only speculating but come on now one dude face down? someone approached this dude and had a few words and that was that. We dont know why, maybe he robbed one of their mommas or hurt their sister. Maybe hes an abuser or a pedophile, snitch or just a lame (jk) Dont assume. Id expect my perp to be handled accordingly too. Just sayin…(i do Not know this situation) just talking…

Nothing like random speculation to stir the pot. The victim’s wife, Milly, is posting on Claycord. She is asking for witnesses to come forward. Doesn’t seem like the victim knew the shooters.

K! February 14, 2018 at 4:00 PM

my neighbor is the man who was shot police were on scene in less than 5 minutes 10 squad cars worth. your accusation the my neighbor somehow deserved to be shot us far off base it would make more sense to say the president deserved to be shot. my neighbor is o e of the kindest people that u know.i am lucky to be his neighbor. it is very unfortunate that the perpetrators have not yet been caught!!

Not surprised February 14, 2018 at 6:02 AM

Did they ever catch them probably not… smh
