Hi Claycordians! – Your wish has been granted! We’ve added a new ‘edit’ feature in the comment section. Just leave a comment, then you’ll have about 5 minutes to edit it or delete it if you change your mind.

Hope you all have a great weekend, and as always, thanks for reading!!

Happy Friday

Glad to see it rainny outside we need the rain but for southern california they are in bad shape for drought they sure do need rain more than we do.

The east coast weather is just insane. many travelers are stranded to get to where they want to go to.A lot of flights are cancelled due to the very bad weather in the east coast. I think it the coldest in history.

travel safe

Roz January 5, 2018 at 8:55 PM

Another very cold place, just last week, was in Canada. Our Daughter & her Hubby on their way ( by Jeep) then Ferry to Cordova AK,..His new Coast Guard assignment for 3 years.
It was -51 degrees at Fort Nelson YT, Canada. Their dog was not happy about going out to do his business. Thank God ~ They’ll be in Cordova tonight, plus it’s warmer there than at their house out in Maryland.

Dorothy January 6, 2018 at 12:09 PM

Really cold! Saw on the news that some areas that had some flooding now have frozen streets. Cars are frozen into the resulting ice. I think I prefer earthquakes…

Cowellian January 5, 2018 at 8:00 PM

Concord Mom January 5, 2018 at 8:14 PM

Cold stone creamery in the Clayton shopping center is closed! We were sad.
Are there plans to reopen ?

Love the posts!

Glad you enjoy ClayDen. You’re right, I watched it again and no fuel.

Sledding dog – love it. I really enjoy your posts.

Jojo Potato January 9, 2018 at 9:05 AM

Four tires and fuel in 2.17 seconds? Uh, no. These days F1 cars don’t get fuel during the race. It is an impressive amount of guys though.

Please don’t litter!

Mary Fouts January 5, 2018 at 10:09 PM

Citrus: Diablo Foods in Lafayette has Sumo Citrus Mandarines/Oranges in stock. Will probably only have for a couple of weeks. Ain’t cheap, but for citrus lovers, these are the best citrus ever. Super easy to peel, not acidic

I’ve bought Sumos from other venues in prior years, but Diablo Foods’ Sumos have consistently been the best..

Anon-2-U January 10, 2018 at 7:46 PM

We’ve just recently discovered the good old fashioned Lisbon lemons at our Farmer’s Market. The lemons we grew up eating. They smell and taste like LEMONS! Eureka’s aren’t the same, too sour.

Barge January 6, 2018 at 6:42 AM

I bet you were speeding. You seemed to not mention that.

Kyle January 6, 2018 at 7:10 AM

I usually arrive at the Concord Bart station around 7pm on weekdays. I see on average 6 guys jumping the gate. I thought Bart was going to hire civilians to issue citations that no one will ever pay.

Concord Guy January 6, 2018 at 8:38 PM

It is a pet peeve of mine.

Keep all three barrels up January 6, 2018 at 9:54 AM

Obey the law and don’t get a ticket. Problem solved. You are welcome. 🙂

Marmalade January 6, 2018 at 10:18 AM

I thought I’d do a test just now. Pleasant Hill Bart, I jumped the gate milled around for a min, then a minute later jumped back over. I did this 4 times over a half hour.
No one asked me for a ticket etc. I suppose as I never got on a train I wasn’t doing anything illegal?

Mika January 6, 2018 at 6:02 PM

Be careful, BART police are known to shoot.

Shoulda Coulda January 6, 2018 at 11:14 AM

No, we make laws that are to be enforced.
It’s called justice. Don’t be Tweetle Dumb.

Marmalade January 6, 2018 at 11:25 AM

Oh grasshopper how uninformed you are…
The base fine goes to the city, county or jurisdiction the officer is in. So if a CHP gives you a ticket in Martinez, the base fine portion goes to city of Martinez not the state.

So…I suggest you research some before making statements of nonsense.

Really ??? January 6, 2018 at 1:05 PM

Hey Claycordians! Who has visited the new Veranda shopping center? They did an amazing job. A beautiful addition to our already amazing city!!

Nutcreek Frontier January 7, 2018 at 1:58 PM

Totally agree with you Really about the amazing new Veranda shopping center, Concord did that one right. Feels like a destination…horses could not have dragged me to Concord before at night, but think Walnut Creek downtown may have a bit of competition now.

Seattle Transit System January 6, 2018 at 1:26 PM

Operates on the Honor system, and has about 7% Fare Evasion. I shudder to think what the evasion rate would be if BART had such a system…..probably about 50%…

Weedeater January 6, 2018 at 4:15 PM

What stores can you go to and buy cannabis products in the Claycord area?

Marmalade January 6, 2018 at 5:11 PM

You can’t, the liberal powers in this area will do anything to keep them out, but there are plenty of private sellers for 50% less than the ripoff dispensaries Ask your kids or neighbor kids they’ll know or if you wear the correct color shirt with a leaf on it they’ll come up to you.

anon January 7, 2018 at 8:22 AM

Just go to any local high school.

Reality Bites January 6, 2018 at 4:29 PM

TweetleDe is almost right. It is the state(courts) and county that reap the greatest portion of the total bail amount for the violation. For example the base fine for the violation could be $35 which goes to the local jurisdiction, but the penalty assessments and court fees could exceed $200 going to the state and county.

Anatomy of a Traffic Ticket:

Uniform Bail Schedule and Fees:

Old Goat January 6, 2018 at 6:55 PM

You should see all the hoods jumping the turnstiles at the Powell Station on my way into work at 8:30am. I can just imagine what a zoo it must be in the late evenings.

Marmalade January 6, 2018 at 7:41 PM

Wife and I watching TV and the DUI marijuana commercials are non stop. This is ridiculous. We need to get back to premium channels with no stupid commercials..
Well back to the hookah get stoned and then head over to new Veranda shopping center to watch the new Star Wars movie.

Many people will always use drugs. Laws and slogans make no difference.

We must accept drug use a permanent cost to society.

What’s with the flu shot this year? In October we were told it was the best ever because they combined all the different varieties of flus into the vaccination.. I rushed out to get one .Now we’re told it wasn’t a good vaccination at all and people are dying.

Ray Thomas of the Moody Blues has died. 🙁

Jojo Potato January 8, 2018 at 5:53 AM

Made me look up “Nights in White Satin”. All these years I thought it was “Knights” and pictured armored gentlemen on horseback. Ray Thomas flute on that tune is unforgettable. Thanks Ray.

Camp Dakota January 8, 2018 at 8:01 AM

Awe – Moody Blues! My 1st big ticket concert at
Cobo Hall, Detroit 1971. So mesmerizing you could hear a pin drop. RIP Ray!

Silva January 8, 2018 at 9:02 AM

I first saw the band in 1968 at the Fillmore. Just yesterday my husband asked me to check and see if/when they would be back around. When I told him the news he burst into tears. I’d be playing my great collection of their music today, but someone relieved me of it. We love you Ray!

Justifyable Anger January 8, 2018 at 10:17 AM

RIP, Ray Thomas. That was a special era in music.

from THE BACKYARD FARMERS; Our goal is to build a community-based, cost-effective and environmentally sustainable model of hunger relief. We harvest excess backyard fruit for donation to the needy. We believe no one should suffer from lack of food. We also believe the poor and the hungry in your community are as important as the ones in our community. We have developed tools, methods, and procedures that are portable.

This non-profit will come out, pick the fruit, give you however much you want to keep, and take the rest to the food bank. A much better alternative to letting the fruit rot on the ground.

KAD January 9, 2018 at 12:29 AM

Thank you Silva for this.

You’re welcome, KAD. I bet they’d love mulberries!

Does anyone other than me remember “Anna – the Lemon Lady”? I wonder if she’s part of this organization.

Silva January 10, 2018 at 9:21 PM

I do remember Anna the Lemon Lady, and I don’t know.

Jojo Potato January 9, 2018 at 12:08 PM

Why does Contra Costa Animal services have such bad pictures? I mean the ones in the left column of this page. There was a recent one of a well posed rabbit with a nice purple background that was very appealing. Now it’s back to poorly lit and posed animals. I would think they could adopt out a lot more animals if they took some care in the images.

kirkwood January 10, 2018 at 1:11 PM

Jojo – Animal pics in the left margin are horizontally squeezed about 10%, but not vertically, thus distorting the image. To see the orig. pic, click on it which takes you to the Animal Control website.

Cowellian – Don’t know if you are on FaceBook or not. I just discovered “I remember Nashville when” there. I am enjoying reading the post and comments. Brings back good memories. I hate what happened to all of the retail shopping downtown. Other cities like Chicago were able to keep theirs going and it wonderful to shop in Chicago because of it.

Cowellian January 10, 2018 at 7:14 PM

That’s one of my favorite FB groups.

KAD January 10, 2018 at 12:36 AM

WAVE (Astound) cable service. I have raved and raved about them and I still do but I just discovered a problem, a small one, but still an issue for me. I had a service call on Sunday morning. The good news is I called the problem in the night before so it was good that they came out right away. This is another good thing about them. I asked the service tech if I could get closed caption. He said yes and went to settings to set that up for me. After he left, I discovered it was still on. Thankfully, he was still out in front of my house and had not driven off yet. I yelled out for him to please come back inside. It turns out the closed caption works all the time and not just when you mute the volume. I only wanted closed caption when the TV was on mute. Too bad this does not work on their equipment.
I hope I do not need to edit this comment because it is late and I want to turn the computer off for the night and watch Nightline. Jimmy Kimmel needs to stop having Rap music for his closing music. I hate Rap music.

Anon-2-U, if you can get hold of your certified Birth Certificate, that also works.

Jojo Potato January 10, 2018 at 10:29 PM

Wrong. Look it up somewhere else. I’ve tryed with this reply feature and can’t get a reply to show up.

Go to Department of Homeland Security website.
It’s the primary source on this.
(I made another comment below first because I forgot for a minute how this reply feature works. Sorry.)

Anon-2-U January 11, 2018 at 6:04 PM

Have embossed copy of Birth Certificate, but I’m NOT going to travel with it. And after doing more research, the new rule will not be enforced until October 2018, so we are safe as far as I was able to find.

I may as well start the lasting, it looks like we’re home-bound for the foreseeable future. We are enjoying our first winter freeze of the season. Seriously, Spring can’t come soon enough to suit me.

KAD January 12, 2018 at 3:43 PM

Last here as well. I had family arrive today from Nashville. Nashville is having a freezing snowstorm right now. The family got out of town just in time. I understand an airplane went off the runway in Nashville today as well due to the bad weather.
