“There’s just one thing Ryland Ward wants for Christmas this year: holiday cards.

And maybe $1 inside each one.

Ryland is 5, one of the youngest survivors of last month’s devastating Sutherland Springs church shooting.

He doesn’t know yet that his stepmother and two sisters died in the Nov. 5 shooting at the First Baptist Church — the deadliest mass shooting in Texas, which left dozens dead and more injured.”

Anon December 22, 2017 at 6:29 PM

He got a card and a dollar from me.I’ve never been so glad to send a card.

Nature Lover December 15, 2017 at 7:18 PM

Happy Friday everyone, especially Champagne Kitty. Hope you are feeling better.

Good way to get shot:

Not impressed or pleased:

A bit blustery is all:

Seems like alot of trouble:

Keep watching:

Knock it off, I warnin’ ya:

In the ocean, nothing is safe. Nothing:

His first, and not by shear chance, his last day at the plant:

So THAT’S a tornado. I wonder where the person in the road flew in from. I will pass. Beagles live to inhale the next morsel of food from their first to their last breath. And they will find it, no matter what. Thank you Mr. Atticus🙂!

KAD December 15, 2017 at 8:34 PM

Where is WAVE? Silva was last this week.

Silva December 16, 2017 at 10:17 AM

Hopefully, Wave had something better to do this time😉 I guess I got a twofer, since Shasta didn’t first, exactly.

Cowellian December 16, 2017 at 10:56 AM

I think that I give Shasta credit for being here first.

Silva December 16, 2017 at 3:00 PM

Well okay, Shasta was first, and peacing is nicer than firsting.

Did anyone report about the accident that happened on Hwy 4 tonight? It happened about 6:15 – 6:30, it looked bad but I didn’t see an ambulance there yet?

Dorothy December 15, 2017 at 8:47 PM

Hope you all have light and happiness for your holidays.

Book report. Another of my mom’s but one I’ve enjoyed a few times when I need something uplifting. Michael O’Halloran by Gene Stratton-Porter, 1915. It has a bit of bad people in it but nothing like what you find now. It has an innocence that one could wish was real instead of a story. You know how I sometimes complain about descriptions that are part of these older book? This on almost forces you to enjoy them as if you could see them. Michael is a newsboy on his own, finds an orphan girl and makes her is family. Almost all the people he interacts with are salt of the earth, honest and lovely. Some selfishness that has to be overcome keeps it from being too sweet.

Hello to ChampagneKitty! I hope you’re feeling better. I have arthritis and fibro too and have thought about you this week and prayed for you. Merry Christmas!

Marie December 15, 2017 at 11:02 PM

does anyone know where I can buy fresh eggs and local honey near the clayton area? thanks

Shasta Daisy December 16, 2017 at 8:01 AM

Every Saturday, Diablo Valley Farmers’ Market at Shadelands:

Fresh eggs, local honey and so much more.

Make sure to check out Top Cap Mushrooms, Crepe & Brioche Bakery, Bisou Chocolate, 60 Foot Farm (the best homemade jams&marmalades)…and lots of seasonal fruits and vegetables.

Mary Fouts December 16, 2017 at 1:49 PM

Marie, Diablo Foods in Lafayette carries both in their normal inventory. Johnson’s Pasture Raised Eggs from Briones and Mary’s Pasture Raised Eggs from Sanger. They carry several local honeys. I buy Magic Garden Honey (raw and unfiltered, from Walnut Creek). Use it in my sourdough baking, it is exceptional.

Ancient Mariner December 15, 2017 at 11:47 PM

@ Marie:
Whole Foods (at least, the one in Walnut Creek) sells Steve’s Bees honey. It’s local and tastes better than industrial-grade supermarket honey. The colour and flavour vary throughout the year, depending on what flowers the bees are visiting. Sometimes it’s light and mild, other times it’s very dark and tastes almost like molasses. It’s very good!
Not cheap, either, but well worth it.

Marie December 16, 2017 at 11:21 PM

thank you everyone! 😊

Scoob December 16, 2017 at 8:32 AM

Anyone know where the case against Jeff Kasper stands?

Dr. Jellyfinger December 16, 2017 at 2:49 PM

What the hell?….. Where did all these leaves come from?

Original G December 16, 2017 at 5:37 PM

Knew if I waited long enough they’d be gone.

Shasta Daisy December 16, 2017 at 8:58 PM

Some of my neighbors have Christmas lights on their back fence. I guess they are getting ready for the development of the CNWS property.

Primary Vet: If you need a Primary Vet in the Claycord area, I highly recommend Oasis Veterinary Hospital in Martinez owned by Dr. Louisa Asseo. We recently made a change in primary vet after 12 years. Had appointments with both dogs at Oasis today, saw relief vet Dr. Valerie Merrill, who is beyond fabulous, she treated our late dog Titus at our former vet. Dr. Merrill and the vet nurses took so much time with our dogs; understanding, including with our Chow-mix Lexi who is a Nervous Nellie at the vet. Rooms are airy and have windows open to outside. Wonderful first time experience for dogs and humans alike.

Silva December 21, 2017 at 1:35 PM

Happy 30th to my solstice baby!!!

Kirkwood December 21, 2017 at 2:55 PM

Hooray! The days are getting longer!

Dr. Jellyfinger December 21, 2017 at 10:52 PM

Well ….. it was the shortest day of the year for me!
I cruised into the office about 11 am …. only had 3 appointments booked for the day & only one seemed kinda urgent… so I just had Barb cancel them and we went out to see the new Star Wars movie.

Silva December 22, 2017 at 12:27 PM

My grandson has commandeered my computer. I have tried visiting with several browsers on my Samsung phone, and upon clickeng on most articles I soon get a message that my phone has a virus, and I have to close the site on whatever browser I’m on, It won’t let me go back, and I’m not opening their messages. It doesn’t happen with anything else I visit, and my antivirus stuff says everythig’s fine. Is anyone having this issue?

Silva December 22, 2017 at 2:00 PM

It only happens with all the news articles. I can’t read them from my phone, but not the regular features.

Jojo Potato December 22, 2017 at 1:48 PM

I’ve had it and the only answer seems to be to delete all browsing information. Not sure on the Samsung but it worked on my Apple phone. Read here:

We can discuss later why my internet life is mostly about fighting off scum. Is that what the net is supposed to be? How about those FCC clowns working on that instead of arranging things for more profit for Verizon etc.

Good luck Silva

KAD December 22, 2017 at 1:55 PM

Last for the week, in case I do not get back here soon enough. Happy Weekend.

KAD December 22, 2017 at 6:24 PM

What happened to backup traffic to Glazier heading east on Concord Blvd tonight around 5:15? Anyone know. Or is this the normal now? I am usually not out and about when it starts to get dark.

KAD December 22, 2017 at 6:27 PM

Forgot to Last again.

Silva December 22, 2017 at 6:59 PM

Thank you, Jojo Potato. I’ll try it.
